In addition there is provided on the stay 9 a cap 14. rFhe cap 14, which is formed of a piece ofsheet iron, is rigidly fastened to the stay 9 and is provided with two spaced downwardly projecting lugs between which' the end 4, ofthe stay 9 is inserted. Each of the stays 9, 9- is provided with a bolt 16. This bolt exten-ds into a boring 17 (Fig. 7) on the folding leg2 and also into aboring 18 provided in a downwardly extending lug 19 on the sleeve 5. Each stay9, 9 has in addition a plate 20 which engages the lug 19 on the sleeveY 5 when the spacing stays 9, 9 are eX- tended and by this means the poles 1, 1 are spaced apart and the fabric ,T isl drawn taut.
Y The stays consequently maintain thelegs 2 and the poles 1,1 inthe correct position. The load carried by the stretcher is taken up 'oy the stays 9, 9 through the plates 20. All the parts of the stretcher are now in their vlocked position.
