In a device'of the class described, the combination of a framed structure composed of back and end frames rigidly secured to each other, an upholstered seat comprising two sections hingedly secured to each other and to the back frame the upper section adapted for being used as aseat and r as aback for a writing desk, the lower sec- -tionadapted for use forstifiening the frame a andas a writing desk and means for actuatdesk and for actuating the desk section into ing the sections into and out of writing positlon relatlve to the, frame.

combination of a frame, a seat memberv comprising a seat section and a writing desk section each hinged relative to the other,
