The present invention relates to improvements in boxes or containers and has reference more particularly to a receptacle especially adapted for-receiving a pile of wax sheets of paper.
One of the important objects of the present invention is to above-mentioned character wherein the lid therefor is formed with a central opening,
w opposed flap members being provided to form a closure' for the opening, the outer side edge portions of the fiaps being hingedly associated with the lid sothat when the fiaps are swungupwardly, access to the interior of the box or container may be had to facilitate the removal of a single sheet of paper without disarranging the remaining sheets in the pile.
Another object is to provide a container'of the above-mentioned character that will maintain the pile of individual sheetsofpaper in a Sanitary condition, the opening in the lid for the box being of such size as to preclude the possibility of the sheets of paper being accidentally discharged therethrough.
Another important object is to provide a container of the above-mentioned character that includes a' particular lid structure whereby the entire pile of sheets of paper can be removed one at a time without disturbing, disarranging, mutilating or messing-up any of the other sheets of paper that compose the pile arranged within the container, the, lid
emg readily removed from the container in order to refill the same with another pile of paper whenever necessary.
A further object is to provide a container of the above-mentioned character that can be constructed at a very low cost, the same being furtherstrong and durable and at all times positive and eflicientin carrying out the purposes for which it is designed.
Other objects and advantages .of the invention will become apparent from the following description when taken in connection with drawing.
In the accompanying drawing wherein like reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the same; l
Figure 1 is a top plan View of the container 5.0 and the lid therefor embodying my invention,
provide a container of the' a portion of the lid being broken away; and
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view through the container'and lid showing the uppermost sheet of paper in the act of being removed from the container.
In the drawing wherein for the purpose of b illustration is shown the preferred embodimentof my invention, the numeral 1 designates a substantially rectangular shaped paper or ca-rdboard container that is open at its top, and within w 'ch container is adapted to be arranged'a pile of wax sheets of paper such as are used in Wrapping up sandwiches and the like. These sheets are preferably denoted by the reference character 2.
Slidably fitted over the container or box v 1 is the removable lid or cover 3 that is also constructed of paper' or cardboard material. The top of the lid is formed within the spaced longitudinally extending' weakened lines or elongated perforations 4 and 5 respectively that terminate inwardly of the ends of the lid 'I and a weakened line 6 extends transversely of the central portion of the lid and connects the longitudinally extending weakened lines 4: and 5 at the intermediate portions thereof as clearly suggested in Figure 1.
The top of the lid is scored along the transverse'line 7 that connects the longitudinally disposed weakened lines 4 and 5.at one end so thereof, the other end portion of the top of the lid being scored along the line 8 that connects the other ends of the longitudinally extending weakened lines 4.- and 5 in the manner as also shown very clearly in Figure 1 of s5 the drawing. A notch 9 is formed in the central portion of the top of the lid adjacent the weakened transverse line 6. V The weakened lines cooperate with the score lines' to forma i pair of opposed flaps,10 and 11 respectively go and when the weakened. lines are cut com-F pletely through, the fiaps 10 and 11 will then be free :to swing upwardly with the scored lines acting as hinges therefor.
When the opposed fiaps 10 and 11 are separated i from the body portion of the top of the lid 3, a substantially rectangular shaped opening 12 will be formed in the central portion of the top of the lid whereby access to the pile of sheets of wax paper ;nay mo be had and the uppermost sheet of paper can be withdrawn in the manner as suggested very clearly in Figure 2 of the drawing without disturbing, dlsarranging, mutilating or ;missing-up the underlying sheets of paper that compose the pile positioned in the con tainer or box and after the single sheet of.
paper has been removed, the fiaps 10 and 11 will be again positioned flush with the top of the lid to provide a closure for the opening 12 thus maintaining the pile of paper within the container 1 in a Sanitary condition free from dust and the like. When the pile 'of paper in the container has become exhausted, the lid 3 can be readily removed and an additional supply of sheets of paper arranged in a pile can be placed in the container.
While I have mentioned the present invention as being particularly adapted to be used in the handling of wax sheets of paper, it is to be understoodthat the same container may be equally as well used to receive other kinds of paper wherein only a single sheet can be obtained at a time and this without disturbing the other sheets of paper in the pile.
A container of thiskind can be constructed and sold at a very low cost.
While I have shown the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that minor changes in the size, shape and arrangement of parts may be resorted to with- 'out departing from the spirit of the invention of the scope of the appended claim.
WhatI claim is: i A container for a pile of waxpaper sheets comprising a rigid cardboard box having the top thereof formed with parallel spaced weakened 'lines and a transverse weakened line connecting the intermediate portions of the parallel weakenedlines, the top of the box being further formed with score lines connecting the respective ends of the parallel weakened lines whereby the portions of the top of the box between the weakenedlines and score lines will provide a pair of opposed closure fiaps when the weakened lines are cut entirely through, said closure flaps adapted to be raised to provide an opening in the top`.of the box and permit access to the pile of wax paper sheets within the box, said closure fiaps normally closing said opening.
In testimony .whereof I afiix my signature.
