'31, 1931 UNITED STATES PATENT foFFic/E HECTOR MiicxnieHT, or EAST oEANGE, NEW JERSEY, AssIeNoE To coENELIA caNETELD BATHROOM CABINET This invention relates to a cabinet designed for a bath room and has for its object, broadly, to provide a cabinet arranged to contain all articles and supplies generally needed 5,5 or required in a bath room used by a'single family and making allowance for guests.
llt is an object of the invention to provide a bath room cabinet of such proportions that it will occupy a limited floor space, but which w will provide ample storage room for every needed article. Another` object is to provide such an arrangement that all of the parts will be convenient in use.
Still another object is to provide a cabinet ol symmetrical and pleasing design which may be portable or may be builtin a building as a permanent fixture having compartments of such proportions that they may contain large or limited supplies of articles corresponding to the quantity or kind required for use. lt is an object of the invention to provide, us an additional feature, a bath room cabinet which may be constructed of sheet metal, plain or enameled having parts which willfbe accessible tor cleaning and maintenance in a sanitary condition. f
The invention includes a bath room net having lextensible-parts and includes a stool for containing various toilet articles and supplies and adapted to be removed from the cabinet for use or to be vstored therein.- One the specific objects in view is to provide a new article oit manufacture for the purposes mentioned, consisting of parts which may be conveniently, manufactured and assembled.
lVith the foregoing objects in View, and others to be mentioned the' invention presents new and useit'ul construction, combination and arrangement ol parts as described herein and claimed, and as illustratedl in the `accompanying drawings, it being understood that changes may be made in form, size, proportion ol parts and minor details, said changes being within the scope of the invention as claimed.
En the dra-Wings, Fig. 1 is a perspective View ol a bath room cabinet embodying my invenv tion. 2 is a view ot the saine in front elevation. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectionv on linewS-S ofFig. 2. Fig. 4 is a' transverse section on line 4-4 of Fig. 2. Figi 5 is a transverse section on line 5-5 of Fig. 2. Fig. 6 is Ja transverse section on line 6 6 of Fig. I2. Fig. 7 lis a perspective' view of a stool, being a separable part ofthe cabinet.` Fig-8 is an end view of the bath cabinet. Fig. 9 is an enlarged detail, being a t-op plan view of a vertically adjustable clothes hanger. Fig. 10 is a detail illustrating, in perspective, one of the uses of the removable stool.y
Referring now to the drawing for a more particular description, l provide a bath room cabinet preferably of rectangular form in plan and elevation, its top, sides, back and bottoni being indicated respectively at l1,
,12, 13 and .14.
' ln order that ample space may be provided for a supply of towels for 'family use and -i that a similar supply may be provided for guests, two separate sections A and B (Fig. 2) are provided in the upper part ot the cabinet, each consisting of a rear compartment 15 and a front compartment 16, said compartments being separated by intermediate doors 17, racks 18 being provided tor bf f the rearcompartments 15 and racks 19 being ca 1'` mountedoiiV the inner sides of the vdoors 20 of said sections.
' rlhe rear compartments' 15 are adapted to -cont'ain' bath towels, vand the front compart' ments 16 are for containing tace-cloths and face towels, andthis arrangement permits the required separation ot these towels, and f provides a 'convenient access tothe towel supply to members of a family `or for guests.Y Towels in` use or the clothing ot a person while bathing may be hung on the hori-y Zonta-l slide-rods 21 or upon the vertical adjustable hook-'rods 22.
Numeral 28 indicates'a hamper arranged to be swung forwardly on. its hinges 24 at the bottom of the cabinet, and it will be appre-` ciated that such a container is convenient for many purposes in a bath room since in many instances storage should be provided temporarily for articles to be laundered.
Numerals 25 indicate a pair of .drawers adapted to be used for storage of small Itowels or wash cloths not generally hung on room and the stoolmay be moved outwardly from or moved into the recess as may be required.
It is considered that, by use of the stool, the cabinet will be complete to supply every article needed in a bath room. This stool may be used not only as aseat while dressing but may contain brushes and shoe-polishing mav terial; also since it is provided with compartments 30 and a doorm closing said compartmately a horizontalposition.
ments it may contain such needed articles as hot water bags, electricalpads, or a supply of toilet soaps.
Numeral 31 'indicates a wing-cover or pad which has a connection at 32 with the ltop of the stool to permit it to swingand to lie upon the top of the stool for use when polishing shoes, and which serves to prevent injury or soiling of the top of the stool, said pad or wing being provided with a depression 33 for receiving the ,sole or heel of thel shoe during the oieration of cleaning orshoepolishing. Nlumeral 3l indicates a recess formed in thevertical wall'of the stool for receivingthe pad or wing when not in use so that it will not be obtrusive.
' As best shown in Figs. 8 and 9 of the drawings, the aperturedbrackets 35. which support the .hook-rod 22 are each provided withl a sl'ot36 opening on its aperture and therefore this rod may have vertical sliding movements in the brackets and may be adjusted vertically to dispose its hooks or prongs above the cabinet as shown in Figs. 1 and 8, or may be disposed as shown lin Fig. 2, when not used, the-prongs of said rod moving through the slots 36 whilekmaking said adjustments. After an adjustment has been made the rod maybe rotated in a limited arc so that the prongs will not be disposed lin line with the slots, and when thus disposed the rody and its hooks or prongs will support any required weight. n
' As best'shown in Fig. 3 of the drawing: collars or sleeves 37 are. provided forthe inner side walls of the' cabinetso that the.'
slide-rods- 21 will be maintained in approxiis not important if theserods are mounted in such a manner that they, will be disposed closely adjacent to the top wall 11,. of the cabinet.
lVhile I have shown onlya single hook` rod 22 and four' slide-rods' 21, the number may, of course, be changed if desired.
Numeral 38 indicatesa drawer intended use'as a container forcombs andhair brushes,
However, this' and a mirror (not/shown) is generally used in connection with the cabinet, and is placed on the top, adjacent to the guard rail 39 of said cabinet.
It is considered that, in the present instance, provision has been made for storage of all toilet articles and supplies generally used in a bath room, and that the arrangement of parts is such that they will be convenient in use. It will be appreciatedthat the cabinet may be installed in bath rooms of small size, and could be built into the wall of a bath room if desired.
'Ihe advantages in the use of cabinets generally and particularly of kitchen cabinets is that they provide a specific place for every needed article coupled with convenience in use, and the present invention, it is believed,
provides these same advantagesl rooms.
I claim as my invention,-
