This invention relates to improvements in perfume Vaporizers, particularly to an electrically operated vaporizer having the form of an incandescent electric lamp, and adapted to simultaneously serve as perfume (liffuser and light.
It is the principal object of my invention to provide a vaporizer of this character adapted to be associated with electric fixtures and one which is attractive and ornamental in appearance, color and shape, yet comparatively simple and inexpensive, while eflicient in disseminating and diffusing a perfume and which may simultaneously serve as light.
Another object of my invention is the provision of a vaporizer and lamp equipped with the customary vacuum chamber containing the filaments, one of which is formed as an electric resistance wire in order to develop the heat required for thoroughly diffusing a particular perfume contained in a wad of asbestos wool or other suitable material satu rated with the particular perfume.
The lam is so constructed as to allow the pouring o a few drops of liquid perfume into the same for evaporation and diffusion.
The other of the filaments may be any type of customary light filament, and such light filament may also be used alone for developing the heat required for diffusing a perfume.
A further object of my invention is the provision of a combination perfume diffuser and electric lamp or light particularly well adapted for use on Christmas trees, as it is ornamental and pleasing to the eye of an observer in shape, size and color. In this instance preferably a wad of asbestos wool or the like saturated with a pine essence or extract is used to simulate, if for instance used with artificial Christmas trees, the pine odor incident to the live pine or fir trees.
A still further object of my invention is the provision of a perfume vaporizer of simple construction in form of an electric light bulb which may readily be attached to any light socket of a fixture within the light circuit of a house to diffuse a perfume or deodorant for purifying the air in a room, while simultaneously on account of its decorative features it is adapted to serve as an ornament 1&29. As illustrated in.Figure 1, the novel and improved perfume vaporizer has the form of an electric light bulb or lamp 10 of conventional shape, seated in the usual screw socket 11.
A vacuum chamber 12 is provided within bulb or shell 10, and the customary loopshaped glass filament holder 13 therein contains a coil 14 of heat resisting wire, the ends of which are connected in the usual manner to the socket and its contact.
The chamber 15 surrounding the chamber 12 is adapted for the reception of asbestos wool or an like suitable material saturated with a per ume, for instance pine extract to be diffused or disseminated.
The lower, open end of bulb 10 is equipped with a suitable socket 16 extending into its interior, and adapted to be closed by any suitable means, as a cork, or the like, or as shown by a plate or disc 17 on which two suitably bent spring fingers 18, 19 are mounted allowing upon their compression :1. ready introduction into the socket 16 and holding the closing disc in place. A hook 20 on. the
outer face of disc 17 is adapted for the attachment of one end of a chain 21, the other end of which is attached to an eye on the outer face of socket 16. In the embodiment of my invention illustrated in Figure 2, the outer face of bulb 22 seated in socket 23, has an attractive and ornamental ap earance resemblin for instance a pine-app e or the like, as indicated by reference numeral 24.
Into the vacuum chamber 25 formed within bulb 22 extends a loop-shaped filament holder 26 containing in this form a filament wire 27, as it is customarily used in incandescent lights The lower open end of the bulb 22 is also closed by a disc 17 shaped and constructed as described above with respect to the form of my invention illustrated in Figure 1.

In the form of my invention illustrated in Figures 5 and 6 the bulb 28 seated in socket 29 is comparatively small and particularly well adapted for use on Christmas trees or the like.
Its outer mantle ma be any color and shape and shows any d esired decorative or ornamental design.
In its interior the bulb 28 contains a'filament holder 30 within chamber 31, and holdin a light filament 32 of conventional type.

The chamber 31 is adapted to receive a wad of asbestos wool 34 or similar suitable material adapted to be saturated with a perfume or fragrant extract or essence.
The operation of my device will be entirely clear from the above description and simultaneous inspection of the drawing, and it will be evident that upon connecting the lamps to the light circuit of a house the heat developed by t e resistance wire or the light filament will volatilize the odor or perfume in the wool and the same will spread in a room, and perfume the same. In case the smaller lights illustrated in Figures 5 and 6 are used on Christmas trees, particularly artificial Christmas trees, the evaporating perfume preferably pine extract will simulate the odor of a real pine tree.
It will be clear that if light filaments are used, the lamps or shells may be used not only for perfuming but also for llluminating pur poses, and a few drops of a liquid perfume may readily be introduced into the lamp for evaporation and diffusion.
It will be understood, that I have shown and described the preferred forms of my device only as examples of the many possible ways to construct the same in ractice, and that I may make such changes in their general arrangement and appearance and in the construction of the minor details thereof as come within the sco e of the appended claims without deviation rom the spirit of my invention and the principles involved.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patentis:
1. A vaporizer for use in rooms comprising a shell for the substance to be vaporized, said shell having an opening and comprising an outer glass mantle having substantially the form of a pine-apple, adapted to be suitably ornamented, a solid substance difiusin a perfume, an electrically operated heating element in said shell to vaporize the substance in said shell, a means for closing the lower end of said shell, and a socket in which the upper end of said shell is seated adapted to be attached to the light circuit of the room.
2. A perfume evaporator comprising a transparent outer casin having an open lower end, a socket in W ich the upper end of said casin is seated adapted to be screwed into a light 'xture forming part of the light circuit of a house, an element within said shell adapted to be heated by the light current, and a wad of perfumed material nearsaid element for diffusing the perfume during the heating of said element, and closing means for the open lower end of said casing.
3. A Christmas tree ornament having the shape of an ornamental pine-apple and comprising a shell having an opening, a light bulb in said shell, a socket therefor, said shell and bulb formin a chamber, a solid body in said shell diffusing perfume under the influence of the heat developed by said light, a plate for closing the opening of said shell, and spring fingers combined with said .plate for holding the same in its opening closing position allowing a readyremoval.
