provlde an envelope or jacket therefor, and two ornate marginal panels having consplcuously distinctive visual characteristics by which they are clearly defined, these two marginal panels being twisted immediately adjacent the opposite ends of said aritcle thereby to provide rosettes at said opposite 2 ends which embellish the article of con fectionery that is exposed to view through the transparent jacket or envelope, and incidentally, to fasten the wra per in position upon the article. The side marginal panels maybe made white, black, or of any suitable and desirable color whereby very ornamental attractive and distinctive effects are secured in which the color, or other visual characteristic of the exposed article, is a contributing factor. K

As herein shown, the wrapper of my improved package consists of a single rectangular piece of thin flexible sheet materal 1 whereof the major portion is con stitnted by a middle body panel 2 that is colorless, glossy and transparent, and whereof the remainder is constituted by two relatively small and narrow destinctively shaded side marginal panels 3 and {l whichare illustrated as integral with said body 5 panel 2.

3 is a perspective view of my new ing used with one kind of candy In practice the wrapper 1 is preferably made from a piece of the well known cellulose product celophane which is a colorless cellulose pellicle, and the end marginal panels 3 and 4c are provided by printing the same thereon with printers inkof the desired color, or having the desired visual characteristic. In Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings these marginal panels areiindicated conventionally as of a red opaque color. The middle body panel 2 is left in its nautral transparent and colorless state.

In using the above described wrapper 1 the latter is wrapped about the article of confectionery 5, with the panels 3 and 4 outside the. opposite ends thereof. The

projecting side marginal portions of the wrapper 1 are then twisted as at 6 and 7 thereby securing the wrapper in position upon the article 5 and providing ornamental rosettes at the opposite ends of the article which latter is clearly exposed to view by the intermediate transparent panel of the wrapper. i l

The article 5 is inclosed and protected by the body panel 2 and since the latter is colorless, very thin and transparent, said article is fully exposed to view and its own color or visual characteristic, enhanced by the glossy finish of the celoohane, enters into combination with the colored twisted and bunched marginal panels 3 and 4 to provide a very attractive and distinctive package. s

A manufacturer of confectionery producing several kinds of candy all of the same color, or having the same visual characteristics, may employ wrappers having marginal panels of different colors, each color beonly, thereby enabling one to distinguish between the different kinds for the purpose of selection. Also, as suggested above,tl1e visual characteristic of the candy itself may enter into the color scheme of the package as a whole. For instance, in the case of white candy the wrapper 1 may be printed with one marginal panel a red and the opposite panel 3 blue, with the result that the completed package will have a color scheme including red, white and blue, with the white in the middle however the package is viewed.

I am aware that thecolorless transparent cellulose product known commercially as celophane has been used in the form of an envelope for holding confectionery and as a closure for cartons and the like, but it is not known that a wrapper of this or similar material, and of the character described, has ever heretofore been proposed based upon the idea of a'transparent wrapper Inade-at its opposite sides with ornate panels which enter into a color schema involving the color or characteristics of the candy itself.

What I claim is: x

1. A package of'the character described comprising an article to be vended and a single wrapper completely inclosing the same consisting of a thin flexible sheet made up of threefsubstantially. parallel panels extendijrig lengthwise thereof including an intermediate approximately invisible cellulose film-like panel of glass-like appearance and, transparency wound lengthwise completely around said article to form a tubulaifcontainertherefor, and two ornate artidle-embellishing marginal panel extensions,

one at each side of said intermediate panel, having conspicuously distinctive visual characteristics by which they are clearly difierentiated' from said intermediate panel,

said marginal panel extensions being twisted immediately adjacent the opposite ends (if said article-thereby to secure the wrapper in position on the latter and also provide outwardly flaring rosettes at said opposite'ends that are axially alined with said trans arenttubular container.

2. package of the character described having, in combination, an article to be vended and a single ornamental wrapper enclosing the same comprising "a tubular intermediate container portion entirely surlrounding said article made from a thin cellulose pellicle of glass-like appearance and transparency provided at its opposite ends with ornate and distinctively shaded extensions for embellishing the article that is exposed to view through said tubular intermediate container portion, said extensions being twisted immediately adjacent the opposite ends of said article into rosette-like forms that are axially alined with said tubular intermediate container portion and flare outwardly away from the latter.

3. A package'of the character described having, incombination, an article to be vended and an ornamental wrapper inclosing the same comprising a tubular intermediate container portion entirely surrounding said article made from thin film- Y like sheet. material of glass-like appearance and transparency provided at itsopposite ends with ornate and distinctively shaded
