This invention relates to ice bags and the like articles.

An object of this invention is to provide a flexible ice bag of the character described, adapted to lie fiat against the body of the user, which shall be positively leakproof and comfortable in use.

A further object of this invention is to provide an ice bag of the character described,

wherein the cover member is provided with a rubber washer, means for preventing looseness or accidental loss of the washer from the cover.

A further object of this invention is to provide an ice bag of the character described having means for conveniently tying the ice bag to the users body.

A still further object of this invention is to provide a neat, compact and rugged device of the character described which shall be comparatively cheap to manufacture, comprising few and simple parts, easy to assemble, and which shall yet be practical and simplc to a high degree when used.

Other objects of this invention will in part be obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out.

The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combinations of elements, and arrangement of parts, which will be exemplified in the construction herein after described, and of which the scope of application will be indicated in the following claims.

Referring now in detail to the drawings, designates an ice bag embodying the invention which is seen to comprise a body 11 having a neck portion 12 for receiving a cover 14. The body 11 is preferably made of leakproof flexible material, such as rubber, and is formed with a flat bottom portion 15 and overlapping folded portions 16 forming the }top of the bag and extending inwardly to provide a central opening therefor. Every portion 17 of saidtop portions 16 is folded upon itself and inserted in an annular-member 18 of substantially U shaped cross-section forming the neck 12. Said member 18 isprovided with an internally screw threaded portion 19 and parallel flanges 20 and 21 extending outwardly therefrom.

The folded edge-portion 17 preferably lies adjacent the screw threaded portion 19, and is tightly pressed against said portion by collar 22, said collar being held in place by a downwardly folded'bead 23 formed on the upper flange 20. It will-be noted that the collar presses down on a portion 24 of a bag adj acent'to the folded portion 17 to press the same against the flange 21. This construction causes the entire top folded portions 16 of the ice bag to be substantially flat and extend outwardly. Thus the ice bag may be placed fiat against the body of the user, making for a more comfortable ice bag and one requiring less space, and forming a smaller bulge than the elongated ice bags now in use.

It will be noted that accidental movement, shifting or loss of the gasket is prevented, due to the recess 33 formed for receiving said washer.
