This invention relates to improvements in combined baby bibs and harnesses.

The principal object of this invention is to provide a device which may be worn by a child while in a chair, such as a highchair,

which device will not only serve to protect the clothes of the child but will also serve as an anchor or securing means whereby the child is effectively held within the chair, and

yet will have perfect freedom of movement.

A further object is to'produce a device of this character which is simple in construction and therefore economical to manufacture.

A still further object is to produce a device which is capable of being washed, and one which will be sanitary.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the following description.

In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same,

It is common to employ bibs for the purpose of keeping children clean while they are eating, which bibs are usually made of a non-pervious material such as a rubberized cloth which may be readily washed after use. These bibs serve no other purpose, and unless a harness is employed, the child is perfectly able to rise up in the chair or to climb out of the chair, and as a result, many serious accidents have occurred thru the chair tipping over, or the child falling therefrom.

Applicant has provided a bib which has a flap portion, which flap portion forms an anchor between the bib and the chair, thereby preventing the child from rising in the chair, and at the same time, permitting all of the freedom of movement necessar for the childs comfort.

In the accompanying drawings wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred' embodiment of my invention, the nu- L65 meral 5 designates a blank having arm holes 6 and 7 and leg holes 8 and 9. A neck band is shown at 11, which neck band passes around the neck of the child as best illustrated in Fig. 1. A waist band 12 extends from the opposite sides of the blank 5 which is adapted to pass around the waist of the child as is best illustrated in Fig. 1. Securing straps 13 and 14 are fastened to the lower end of the blank 5 a and have their free ends connected to short straps 13, and 14, each short strap having a buckle 16 and 17 on one end thereof and a snap fastener 16 and 17 on the opposite endv thereof. As disclosed to advantage in Figs. 3 and 4, it willbe noted that the securing 7 straps 13 and 14 can be readily detached fromv the buckle and likewise the snap fasteners can be readily detached from the supporting ring. Cross braces 18 and 19 are secured to p the blank 5 for the purpose of keeping the 7 portion of the blank between these cross braces in a fiat or extended condition. A triangular fastening flap 21 is secured to the blank 5 at a point adjacent the brace 18 which is provided with a ring 22 at its free end, which ring is adapted to be engaged by the snap fasteners 16 and 17 (see Figs. 2 and 8.) The result of this construction is, that when the bib is placed upon the child as shown in Fig. 1, the flap 21 is placed under the child, 35 while the lower end of the blank 5 is passed under the chair seat so that the straps 13 and 14 may be passed around the back of the seat and brought over the seat so that the snap fasteners 16 and 18 mayengage the ring 22.- 9

The waist strap 12 is now placed around the waist of the child and the child is then fully protected and at the same time, anchored to the chair seat in such a way that it will be impossible for the child to rise up in the seat. It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is terial, size, shape and arrangements of parts maybe resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scopeof the subjoined claim.
