This invention relates to mountingI devices such as clips for attaching lamp so ets and the like articles on Christmas trees or other objects to be decoratively illuminated.

An object of this invention is to provide an improved device of the character described for firmly and securely mounting a socket on a Christmas tree, the construction of the device being such as to permit same to be easily snapped onto a miniature lamp socket such as is ordinarily used for Christmas tree illumination, and further permittin a twig or branch of a Christmas tree to be easily snapped therein whereby the socket is readily and securely mounted in desired position on the tree.

A further object of this invention is to provide an extremely simple and neat device of the character described which shall be inexpensive to manufacture, easy to manipulate and yet practical and eflicient to a high degree in use.

Other objects of this invention will in part be obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out.

' The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combinations of elements, and arrangement of parts which will be exemplified in the construction hereinafter described, and of which the scope of application will be indicated in the following claims.

Referring now in detail to the drawings, 10

example, a twig or branch thereof, and 11 designates minlature electric lamp sockets,

clamped to said twig in the manner hereinafter described, by means of mounting devices Christmas tree lighting outfit 15 being interconnected in series circuit by conductor wires 1? and carrying miniature, decorative bulbs l The mounting device 12, here shown as clamping miniature lamp sockets to the twi of a Christmas tree, although particular y adapted for such use, may obviously be employed for various other purposes.

Said device 12 is preferably. made of a single piece of resilient metal, for exam le, 8. thin elongated flat strip bent or shape into the form shown in Fig. 4.

Said device 12 comprises a split circular portion 20 terminating in a short outwardly curved end portion 21 and a second portion 22 bent backwardly and outwardly forming a loop portion 23. The loop portion 23 comprises a portion 24 curved outwardlysymmetrically to said portion 21 and s aoed therefrom and forming therewith a aring mouth for the annular portion 20. Said loop portion 23 further comprises a portion 25 contacting the outer surface of said annular portion 20 and terminates in a curved portion 26 flaring awa from said annular portion and forming t erewith a flaring mouth for the loop 23.

It will now be understood that the clip 12 may be attached to the socket 11 by merel pressing the socket against the flaring mouth portions 21, 24 of the clip, to force the split annular portions 20 to. spread and permit entrance of the socket therein. Obviously, upon further pushing the socket, the split portions of the clip snap back into clamping engagement with the socket for firmly attaching the clip to said socket.

The twig or branch 10 may then be pushed thru the flaring mouth of the loop 23 to clamp the device to said branch. By reason of the flaring mouth portions of the socket receiving portion 20 and the twig receivin loop portion 23, the mounting operation is rendered easy and may be quickly and readily carried out for mounting the decorative lamps on the Christmas tree.

It will thus be seen that there is provided a device in which the several objects of this invention are achieved, and which is well adapted to meet the conditions of practical I use.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters 16 Patent:

1. A device of the character described made of a single piece of shaped resilient metal having a split circular portion terminating in an outwardly bent portion and in a bent back so looped portion, said looped portion having a portion disposed adjacent said circular portion and terminating in a portion bent away from said circular portion. 2. In combination, a lamp socket and a as clip therefor having a split circular portion disposed about said socket, and a bent back portion forming a loop with said circular portion, said bent back portion having a portion contacting said circular portion. 80 3.
