This invention relates to e catsmeniel appliance end hes as its object the provision of such on appliance which will be completely concealed when in use, which is not subject to inadvertent dislodgement, and which can beworn with minimum discomfort. In the accompanying drawing is illustrated one form in which the invention may be ein= bodied, but it is to be understood that this is presented by way of illustration only, as the invention may be utilized in forms varying in detail from that here shown.
In said drawing Fig. l is a bottom view;
Fig. 2 is a side view;
Fig. 3 is a sectional view iflustrating e manner of application; and
Fig. 4 is a sectional view illustrating the ep hence in operative position.
' e device comprises a pad or disk 10 of soft, compressible, highly absorptive material, such as ion step e absorbent cotton, or other suitably co erent and flexible substance or substances. For convenience this may be or circular contour and should be relatively thin to admit of the manipulation as here inafter'described. A silk string 11 is strongly secured through the middle of the disk and is tied to form a loop'which will depend for once is several inches from the pad. The
applied b inserting itin the manner illustreted in ig. 3 to a position somewhat above that which it is to occupy, with the string depending. The string is then drawn downwerdly with the result that the'protuberant crown or central portion of the pad is retrscted end the material compressed or telescoped within the surrounding portions, to
, n position more or less approximating that illustrated inFig. s. This is accommodated by the flexible end compressible nature of the pad. As then applied the device occupies a position at the lower end of the sans], the w of wmch are shown in dotted lines, and is held in position by the natural muscular tension. It thus forms an efiective yielding pack held under a certain degree of compression and afiording complete stoppage in a position where it is completely out of sight; Ween desired, it mey he withdrnwn by the string.
t l claim 1s:
An appliance of the sort described com I hility snol compressibility that it may be convoluted and compressed by retracton of its central portion from a protuberant position a relative to the marginal portions thereof by traction on the string when the pad is constricted.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed rny neme.
