MONEY srERrLIzE n Application filed October 24, 1931. Serial No. 570,254.
This invention is a money sterilizer which is particularly adapted to the automatic sterilization of money and papers deposited in the drawer of a cash register.
The main object of the invention is to provide means for automatically spraying an antiseptic on money or papers deposited in a cash register drawer.
Another object of the invention is to provide means for automatically spraying a sterilizing medium in the interior of a receptacle or cabinet coincident with the clos ing of a drawer or door. e
Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent as the follow ing description is read on the drawing forming a part of this specification and in which similar reference characters are used to indicate similar parts throughout the several views and in which:
Fig. 1 is a plan view of the invention with a portion of the cover broken away.
Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the invention, partly in section, the section being taken on line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a section taken on line 33 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a modification of the invention.
The invention consists of a housing having compartments 11 adapted to receive bottles 12, which may be of any suitable form, a compartment 11 being provided also in the end portion 13. Suitable fastening means, such as ears 14 adapted to receive screws 15 provide for mounting of the device on a drawer 16 which is slidable between the base 17 and top 18.
A recess 19 of arcuate form is provided to receive a resilient bulb 20 which is provided with a suitable outlet 21 secured in the rear wall as indicated. Secured to or integral with the outlet 21 is a forked tube having oppositely directed branches 22 and 23 which terminate in tips 24, the branches passing over the bottles 12 as shown at 25, a depending branch 26 communicating with the branch portion and being open at the bottom and extending into the antiseptic solu f to permit removal of the bulb 20, bottles 12 and tubing as a unit.
A modification of the invention is shown in Fig. 4 in which a plunger 31 is forced outwardly by a spring 32, the piston :rod 33 having a piston 34 which operates in a cylinder 35, an aperture 36 communicating With the cylinder and with a T tube 37, which has a nozzle 38 extending into the drawer 39 through the back wall 40, suitable breather apertures 41 being provided in the stoppers 42 to permit operation of the atomizers.
, The operation of the device is as follows: With the drawer 16 open, the drawer is closed by pressing on the bulb 20 which coincidently sprays disinfectant from the bottles 12 over F the money in the drawer, through the nozzles 24.
In the modification shown in Fig. 4, closing of the drawer 39 engages the plunger 31 forcing piston 34 into cylinder 35, forcing the air out through passage 36 and tube 37 coincid-ently drawing disinfectant from bottle 12 and spraying through the tip 38. Opening the drawer permits the spring 32 to retract the piston 34 ready for further spraying of disinfectant on closing the drawer.
Having described an operable method of constructing and using the invention it will be noted that variations in construction and arrangement which are consistent with the appended claims may be resorted to without detracting from the spirit or scope of the invention or sacrificing any of the advantages thereof.
I claim:
1. A money sterilizer comprising a housing secured to a cash drawer, atomizing means removably disposed in said housing and having spray tips extending into said cash drawer and a bulb on said cash drawer for said atomizing means whereby pressure on said bulb closes the drawer and sprays the interior thereof.
2. A disinfecting device adapted for attachment to a cash drawer comprising a housing having two compartments and a resilient bulb interposed therebetween, a spraying device in each compartment in communication with said resilient bulb, and spray tips in communication with said bulb and said spray means and extending into the drawer.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
CHAUNCEY D. MONETT.
