An object of this invention is the provision of a knock-down paper box which is prima.-. rily designed for use by florists for the -handling, conveying and displayingof potted plants, but which, of course is susceptlble for use as a holding, conveying and display device for other articles, and in which the construction is simple, ,cheap and thoroughly efiective in accomplishing its purpose.

To the attainment of the foregoingand other objects which will present themselves theinvention consists in the improvement as hereinafter described and definitely claimed.

Figure 5 is a similar view of one corner of the blank from which the partition or rack is formed.

Both the body and the partition or rack of the improvement, are formed of some suitable cheap cardboard which embodies "sufficient strength to accomplish my purpose. The body or box includes a substantially rectangular base 1 having extensions which are scored therefrom to provide sides 2 and ends 3. The sides'2 are formed with end extensions in the nature of corner tabs 4 divided from the ends 3 by slitting or cutting the said tabs in line with the longitudinal score lines 5. The ends 3 are wider than the sides 2 and are scored, as at 6, to provide outer flaps 7. The sides and ends are bent upon the score lines 5 and 8 to arrange the same at a right angle with respect to'the bottom 1, the corner tabs are folded inwardly against the sides and the flaps 7 'are folded inwardly over the ends and" against the tabs 4. If desired, the flaps 7 and the tabs 4 may be adhesively connected toextended and the said ends being lmocked down when the parts are not adhesively connected which is preferable.

The partition 0r rack comprises a. top portion 9 provided with any desired number of openings 10'which, in the showingof the drawing are round to receive therethrough the pots 11 for growing plants. Th8 top 9 has its corners cut away and is provided with both longitudinal and transverse scorelines 12 and 13', and. the portions yond the score lines afi'ording endable sides 14 and bendable ends 15. The ends, adjacent to the corners thereof, are provided with substantially U-shaped slits and the portion of the ends bounded by the slits afford bendable tongues 16 and these tongues aredesi ned to 'be forced below the lower edges of the aps or projecting beflanges 7 as disclosed by Figures 2 and 3 of the drawing and thereby effectively sustain the rack orpartitionin the body 1.

As previously, stated, the im rovement is primarily designed for use b constructed of diflferent sizes br of potted plants for conveying a'comparatively large number of such plants from the green house to the market. The plants are properly displayed when the boxes are arranged upon the sales stand and as the said device is very cheaply and easily constructed it may be given free to the purchaser of the plants. The potted lants are held properly spaced so that the owers and the leaves of the plants will be retained in a better tion thanshould the same bepermitted to contact with each other. Obviously the device may be successfully employed for conveying and displaying articles other than potted plants, and while we have illustrated a satisfactory embodiment of our improved device our features of invention are capable of extended application and we do not wish to be restricted to the specific structure herein shown and described. I

Having described the invention, we claim: 1. A holding and displaying device for the purpose set forth, comprising a paper box having an open top, said box havin its ends nt into the box in a line with the open top of the box to provide flanges, a flat apertured partiv orists and is I the handling tion plate afl'ording a,rack arranged in the box to contact with the side walls and with the flanges in the box, and said partition plate having depending side and 'end flanges to 5 contact with the bottom of the box and certain of said flan es being formed with bendable tongues designed to be bent against the box and to underlie and contact with the flanges in the box.

A holding and displaying device for the purpose set forth, comprising a paper box scored and cut to include a bottom, sides, corner tabs extending from the ends of the sides, and flaps on said ends, said flaps de- I signed to be folded over the corner tabs when the sides and ends are arranged at a right angle with respect to the bottom and an a ertured partition plate to be received in the ox and having depending sides and ends to contact with the inner walls of the box, and the depending ends being formed with bendable tongues designed to be pressed against the ends of the box and to underlie and to contact with the edges of the flaps.
