(01. l28--59)' This invention relates to a massage device for massaging portions of the head, the general object of the invention being to provide a pair of handle bars hingedly connected togetherat one end with massage devices attached to the inner face of each bar sopthart by grasping the free ends of the bars with the hand, the massage devices can be caused to engage all portions of the head to massage the scalp.

Another object of the invention is toprovide means whereby liquid for treating the scalp and hair can be attached to one of the devices so that they head can be treated with this liquid at the same time it is being massaged.

Thisinvention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts to be hereinafter fully' described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.

In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings where in like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and. in-

In these drawings, the numerals 1 and 2 indicate a pair of handle bars which are preferably formed of flat stock and these bars are con-v central part of its bight portion connected to the other bracket.

The plate 5 and each end of the plate 6 are adapted to support the massage devices shown at A, each device consisting of a body part 7 having the fingers 8 attached thereto, these fingers being. preferably formed of rubber and each body part is formed with guideways 9 for receiving the parts 5 and 6 so that each massage device isdetachably connected with its supporting part. Projections 20 are formed on'each guidewayfor, engaging indentations 21 in the plates 5 and 6 to hold place.

The adjustment ofthe springs 10 permit the yielding action to be increased or decreased as desired and thus the pressure with which the devices engage the head can be regulated. V

A bracket 13 is connected to each of the handle members below the brackets 4 and a disc 14 having the resilient fingers 15 thereon is carried by each bracket 13.

A container 16 preferably'of glass has one end threaded to receive a cap 17 which is attached to the plate 5 and said cap and plate are formed with the registering holes 18 which register with a hole 19 in the body 7 of the massage device on the plate 5 so that liquid placed in the container 16 will pass through the holes 18 and 19 and thus flow onto the scalp and hair of the user so that the scalp and hair can be treated by a suitable liquidwhen desired.

As will be understood, the free ends of the I handle members are grasped by the hands of the user and the device placed over the head with the massage devices A engaging the upper portion ofthe head and the discs 15 engaging the sides of the head. The deviceis then manipulated so as to cause the massage devices and the discs 15 to engage all portions of the head to massage the scalp.

It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the 1 9 intermediate the ends of the bar, a massage de-' vice supported by each bracket, a second bracket on each bar located below the first bracket and a massage device carried by each of the second brackets each of the last mentioned massage devices being arranged at substantially right angles to the first-mentioned massage devices.

2. A massage device of the-class described comprising a pair of bars hingedly connected together at one end, a bracket having a horizontal part carried by each bar, a member on each horizontal bar having resilient teeth, and a second bracket on each bar arranged under the first bracket and a member on each of the second brackets having resilient teeth thereon the member on each of the second brackets being arranged at substantially right angles to a member on the first mentioned bracket.

A massage device comprising a pair of bars hingedly connected together at one end, a bracket on the inner face of each bar intermediate the ends thereof, a resilient support of elongated form on one bracket; a U-shaped member having resilient limbs on the other bracket, a member having resilient tongues thereon carried by each limb of the U-shaped member and the elongated supporting member, the elongated supporting member and the member thereon fitting between the limbs of the other member when the handle bars are movedtowards each other.

A device of the class described comprising a pair of bars hingedly connected together at one end thereof, a bracket on the inner face of each bar, a U-shaped member having its bight connected to one bracket, a plate connected to the other bracket, massage devices on the limbs and said plate, and each consisting of a body part having resilient fingers thereon, the plate with the massage device thereon fitting between the limbs of the U-shaped plate when the bars are moved towards each other, the extended portions of the brackets and the plates being resilient and adjustable spring means engaging the parts.

A device of the class described comprising a pair of bars hingedly connected together at one end, a bracket on the inner face of each bar intermediate the ends thereof, each bracket having an inwardly extending part, an elongated plate of spring metal connected to one bracket, a U-shaped plate having its bight connected with the other bracket, the plate being formed of spring metal, a massage device carried by each limb of the U-shaped plate and by the elongated plate, each device consisting of a body having resilient fingers thereon, the elongated plate fitting between the limbs of the U-shaped plate when the bars are moved towards each other, and ad- 'justable springs connected with the bars and engaging the limbs of the U-shaped plate and the elongated plate, a second bracket on each bar 10- cated below the first bracket and having an inwardly extending part, said part having a head on its free end which is parallel to the-bar, and a disc having resilient fingers thereon connected with each head.

6. A device of the-class described comprising a pair of bars hingedly connected together at one end, a bracket on the inner face of each bar intermediate the ends thereof, each bracket having an inwardly extending part, a plate of spring metal connected to the said part of each bracket, a spring adjustably connected to each bar and having a part engaging a plate, a massage device carried by each plate, each device consisting of a body part removably engaging a plate andreiio silient fingers carried by the body part, a container removably connected to one of the plates for holding a liquid and the plate and body of the massage device having openings permitting the liquid in the container to flow onto that part of the body being treated by the massage device.
