i atented Nov. 20, 1934 UNETED STATES PATENT @Fi iCE 1 Claim.
The present invention pertains to a novel enclosure and support for articles of wearing apparel of a type particularly adapted to receive a plurality of neckties.
The primary object of the present invention is to provide an enclosure with means for receiving a plurality of neckties for supporting the some free from dust and wrinkles and in a manner permitting the same to be readily exfor the purpose of selecting any of the in this connection the invention includes a group of members providing an individual support for each necktie, the group of supports being carried by a slidable member that is received in guides in an enclosure having means of access permitting the slidable member to be projected outwardly from the confines of the enclosure so that the ties on thesupports are exposed to view for the purpose of selecting from the same.
With the above and other ends in view the invention consists in matters hereinafter set forth, and more particularly pointed out in the appended claim, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective View of the enclosure illustrating means for attaching the same to a supporting structure;
2 is a fragmentary perspective view i1- iustrating neckties; supported in an exposed position;
Fig. 3 is a perspective view with the enclosure covering removed.
Fig. l a transverse cross section of the necktie supporting members; and
Fig. 5 is a perspective detail of one of the enclosure supporting members;
Like characters of reference are employed throughout to designate corresponding parts.
Reierr to Figs. 1 to 5 the numeral 1 india pan of channel members having integral projections 2 secured together by bolts 3 to hold said channels in definite spaced relation and thus provide a uide for slidably receiving a bar i of rectangular cross section. It is obvious however, that the guides 2 might well be made of arcuate cross secon to support a sliding bar of circular cross 2 cticn. The projections 2 are formed adjace' t the ends of the channels 1 and when secured together in the manner described channel members define a groove 5 in which is received a pin 6 that is secured. to the sliding bar l. It is obvious that the sliding movement of the bar 1 is limited by the pin 6 coming in contact with either end of the slot 5.
Supported in the projections 2 is a substantially r ctangularly shaped wire frame 7 on which is supported an enclosure member or case 8 having a closure in the form of flaps 9 in one end thereof equipped with securing means 10 permitting the flaps to be opened easily when desired. Fig. 1 illustrates the "flaps in their closed position and Fig. 2 illustrates the flaps in their open position and the sliding bar 4 moved to a position where it projects outwardly through the opening thus formed by opening the flaps. Hook-like members 11 are secured in the sliding bar l thereby forming a garment rail to receive neckties 12 so that when the bar 4 is moved inwardly and the flaps 9 closed as in Fig. 1 the ties are carried within the enclosure and protected thereby, and when the bar 4 is in the position illustrated in Fig. 2 the ties are exposed to view and any of the same may be selected and easily removed.
The for supporting the enclosure is illustrated in 5 and reference to this view will now be had, the numeral 13 therein illustrating a substantially V-shaped spring-like clamping member which is connected to the em closure by threading one end thereof through openings 14 in the top of the enclosure and through an opening 15 in the projections 2, there being one of such clamping members provided for each set of projections 2. Each clamping member has a pair of substantially parallel arms 16 and 17 that are preferably protected by rubber sleeves. The arms 16 and 1'? respectively engage the top and bottom of a horizontal member 18 such as a table-like top of an article of furniture and the lower arm 1'! has an angularly bent portion 19 engaging the vertical support 20 for the member 18 in a manner to provide additional rigidity for the V -shaped clamp support.
Although specific embodiments of the present invention have been illustrated and described it is to be understood that various chan es may be made in the details of construction without departing from the spirit of the invention as defined by the scope of the appended claim, and such changes are contemplated.
What 2 claim is:
A device of the character described including a pair of channel members secured together to form a guide, a frame attached to said members, an enclosure mounted on said frame, said enclosure having neans of access thereto, a slidable support carried by said members and adapted to project through the means of access to said enclosure, and a clamp-like clip extending through the upper part of said enclosure engaging said members and adapted to secure itself to a supporting structure for the purpose of supporting said guide with said enclosure surrounding the same.
