1 Claim.

This invention relates to an improvement in sanitary appliances.

A primary object of the invention is to provide a supporter including a pouch and a band adapted 5 to carry a sanitary pad which serves as a rectal shield to be worn by sufferers from hemorrhoids or the like to protect under garments or clothing.

A further object is to provide a device that may be easily applied and removed and which may be easily laundered since it has no metallic parts permanently connected therewith.

With the above and other objects in view which will more readily appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement or parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated and claimed.

A preferred and practical embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing, in which:-

Referring to the drawing, it will be observed that the device includes a front pouch portion B and a strip-like web or strap C connected with the rear end thereof.

The pouch B may be sanitary pad E in place.

This pad may consist of from eight to twelve layers of soft toilet tissue paper of proper strength, or a suitable number of layers of other soft absorbent material soluble in water, so as to be readily disposed of in the toilet.

Its length, when folded in center over (Cl. 12S-98) the loop E', to extend back about nine inches and also to extend a half inch on each side beyond the width of the supporting web C. At the center fold the width to be tapered off to t inside the loop and the rear ends also to taper to the Width of the supporting web to which they are to be attached superimposed. This pad made of suitable material may also be medicated or use-d to apply medication to the affected part in certain cases, under the direction of a physician.

I'he loop E' is secured to the sides of the pouch above the lower end thereof and serves to keep the pad which is folded thereover, in place and flat, even without a fastener or safety pin at this point; and, thus, by only requiring one fastener at the rear end, adds to the simplicity and convenience of the appliance. In warm weather, or if the wearer perspircs greatly, a safety pin at the pouch end just below the loop is necessary.

From the foregoing it will be apparent that the present device provides a simple and practical supporter and sanitary pad that does away with elastic leg straps and other similar parts, which chafe and bind the body of the wearer, while at the same time providing comfortable and convenient means for carrying out the intended functions of the device.

The rear side of the band C may be provided with the markers C2 for assisting in locating the safety pin fasteners to insure their passage through the pad properly to hold the same in place.

Without further description it is thought that the features and advantages of the invention will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art, and it will of course be understood that changes in the form, proportion and details of construction may be resorted to, without departing from the spirit of the invention and scope of the appended claim.

I claim:

A sanitary appliance for male use, including in combination, a waist band, a pouch carried thereby, a web strip attached at one end to the lower margin of the pouch, a loop connected to the sides of the pouch, a renewable rectal pad folded over the loop whereby the pad is positioned at its front end adjacent the lower portion of the pouch and having its free ends extending rearwardly over the web thereby to provide a rectal shield adapted to closely conform to the body of the user, and a fastening for securing the said free ends of the pad to the band.
