In the illustrated embodiment characterizing this invention there is shown a double or twin drainage vfitting device A for noors, roofs, and the like, adapted for connection with the drainage system of a building designated as B. j In the present'instance the device A is shown as mounted in and adapted to effect drainage of a floor 1 and comprises the complemental inner casting section 2 and outer casting section 3. The outer section Sis formed with a central depending internally threaded annular flange 4 and flaring or extending outwardly and upwardly therefrom is the inclined section 5 terminating at its `upper end in the vertical wall or hub member 6. Said supporting orouter section 3 is adapted to be threadedly mounted on the upper end of main drain/pipe B of the drainage system with central opening'l of the same diameter as pipe B and registering therewith. Flashing sheet 8 of lead, copper, or any suitable waterproofing material is then placed over outer section 3 and shaped to conform to the contour thereof by inner or die section 2 so that'opening 9 of the same diameter or slightly larger than opening 7 will register with the latter.
The inner or die section 2 comprises an annular Vertical flange or wall 10 internally threaded asy at 11 and is formedadjacent the lower edge of said threads with Va lateral flange 12 forming an opening 13 adapted to register with openings '7y and 9 and constituting a stop or seat for the pipe or body section 14 threadedly mounted in said section 2 vand adapted to form a continuation of pipe B as will be apparent. The wall v10 extends below ange 12 and is formed with an upwardly and outwardly extending portion 15 constituting the bottom 'of channel 16 and terminating in a vertical wall or flange 1'? spaced Vvfrom wall 10, one surface of which constitutes the outer wall surface of channel 16 and the other surface the calking wall surface of channel 18 formed by walls 17 and 6. Adjacent its lower end, wall 17 is formedwith a lateral flange 19 adapted to contact flashing sheet 8 and shape it to engage the inner surface of wall 6 and lock or hold Vsame in such position as said die section 2 is possible leakage through the connection of parts of the device can only escape from opening 7 to drain B. Channel 16 is formed with a plurality -of openings 21 through which water or other fluid ,is directed from said channel to drain pipe B.
The joint or` connection between the sections y2 and 3 and the flashing 8 is sealed preferably by filling channel 18 with a low temperature molten metal C such as lead, tin, or alloy, and which is adapted to be worked into cooperative position by a suitable iiat tool with respect to the flashing 8, flange seat 19, and wall 10 to effect a watertight joint as will be apparent.
By reason of the above structural arrangement it will be noted that no seepage from above flashing 8 and no leakage between sections 2 and Sby reason of rough or non-tight tting complemental faces can escape except through opening 7 and main drain B. Also leakage from the device by reason of the employment of bolts or other clamping devices between the complemental sec-r tions is eliminated and the'structural arrangement of the device greatly simplified.
Threadedly mounted on the upper end of body section 14 is a substantially funnel-shaped strainer section 22 constituting the top section of the device and formed in the presentfinstance with a slotted face 23'adapted to seat inthe l countersunk opening 24 formed in the tiles` or other suitable floor 25 which said device is adapted to drain. v v
The device A is shown, in the present instance, as mounted in concrete 26, and during the'installation of the device and in order to protect and prevent extraneous matter -from clogging `openings 2l or the device below said openings during pouring of the concrete above said flashing, a cylindrical member 27 is telescopically arranged with respect to the body of the device with its lower end seating in channel 16vand supported by wall 17, andnot only preventing pipe B of the drainage system, then concrete 26` is pouredvup to the level or slightly above the upper edge of wall 6, then flashing sheet. 8 is placed on the concrete and section 3 with Aopening 9 in registration with opening 7, then inner die section 2 is placed over said sheet and driven or forced down within the outer casting or section 3 shaping the sheet to conform to the contour of said section and locking it therein, then channel 18 is filled with molten metal C which is expanded preferably by means of a flat tool to effect a watertight joint and to unite the sections and flashing into a unitary structure, then sleeve 27 of sufficient length to reach to or above the level of oor or roof 1 is placed in channel 16 and concrete 26 is then poured on said flashing and around said sleeve to the desired height orto floor 1. After said concrete has set, sleeve 27 is removed and body section 14 with strainer section 22 is then positioned, after which tile or other floor material 1 is laid, which completes the installation of the device. The device is then tov suitably mounted to effect drainage of floor l v through strainer 22 to pipe B and any seepage through concrete 26 above flashing sheet 8 will be directedto channel16 through openings 21 and to pipe B, as will be clear without further discussion.
In this connection it will be observed that I have provided a drainage fitting comprising twin appended claims without departing `from or sacrificingany of theV principles of this invention. p
From the above it Willbe` apparent that I have l designed a twin drainage litting comprising vfevv parts, expeditiously installable, manufacturable at a minimum of production cost, and eiiicient for the purposes intended. l
Although in practice I have `found that the form of my invention illustrated in the accompanying drawing and referred to in the above description as thepreferred embodiment is the most efficient and practical, yet realizing the conditions concurrent with the: adoption of my invention will necessarily vary, I desire to emphasize that various minor changes in details of construction, proportion and arrangement of parts, maybe resorted to within the scope of the Having `thus described my invention, what `I desire protected by Letters Patent is as set forth inthe following claims:
