Abstract

The Cue Guard™ is a new and unique pool cue accessory because is covers the pool cue shaft with a light weight, pliable but sturdy material that is easily used and transported. The Cue Guard™ is slipped on before the pool cue is leaned up against something while it is not in use during a game.

Description

  • The Cue Guard™ is a sturdy, priable protective cover that prevents dents, nicks and scratches on a pool cue shaft and pool cue tip should the pool cue fall over. [0001]
  • BACKGROUND
  • The Cue Guard™ was invented out of necessity. During a night of billiard league play and a tournament, my pool cue accidently fell into a metal rail on the floor which caused a large dent in the wood on the shaft and at the tournament the fall caused the cue tip to fall off. [0002]
  • Any nick, dent, or scratch can affect the feel of the pool cue during play. [0003]
  • It took three days to repair the dent. During these three days, I thought of the solution to the problem of pool cues falling over while leaned again something or even clamped to something. [0004]
  • The only solution was a cover. It had to be sturdy enough to withstand an impact but also pratical and easy to use. [0005]
  • SUMMARY
  • The Cue Guard™ is a cover made of vinyl that fits easily over the shaft of the a pool cue to protect the shaft and the pool cue tip from damage should it fall. [0006]
  • The Cue Guard™ is removed for play and slides back on when the cue stick is at rest. [0007]
  • The Cue Guard™ ensures the cue shaft and cue tip is protected regardless of where the pool cue is leaned when it is not being used. [0008]

  • Silk screening is used to mark the vinyl with the Cue Guard™ trademark and/or other commercial names or logos. [0015]
  • The vinyl is doubled for sturdinous to ensure protection at times when the pool cue may fall against hard and/or sharp edges or objects. See FIG. 1, page [0016] 1/5
  • The face of the vinyl is 100% Polyvinyl chloride; the back is 100% polyester. [0017]
  • The outer layer is cut to “30.50” in length, “4.625” in width tapered to “2.00” at the. top. See FIG. 4, page [0018] 4/5.
  • The widest end of the outer layer is folded “0.5” inward and sewn across. See FIG. 2, page [0019] 2/5.
  • The inner layer is cut to “29.75” in length, “4.5” in width tapered to “1.875” at the top. See FIG. 5, page [0020] 4/5.

  • A “31.00” rectangular piece of nylon is cut to “1.25” width to be used as a binding. FIG. 6, page [0023] 4/5.
