Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a display, and particularly to a display with a protective cover for a back of a chair which may be used in a vehicle or other locations.
- 2. Prior Art
- Due to development in the economy and the prevalence of roads, automobiles have become a major means of transportation. Buses can be equipped with televisions for providing passengers with entertainment. These televisions can be mounted to the roof or to seats. However, the screens of the televisions are exposed when they are not in use. Therefore, the screens easily accumulated dust and easily scraped, scratched, hit or damaged. Furthermore, the televisions are easily seen so they are often stolen.
- Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a seat back display with protective cover of which the display module is covered by the protective cover when the display is not in use. As a result, the display module is prevented from accumulating dust or being scratched or damaged.
- A further object of the present invention is to provide a display with a protective cover for a back of a chair of which the display module is covered by the protective cover when the display is not in use, thereby increasing the security and preventing the display module from being stolen.
- To achieve the above-mentioned objects, a seat back display with protective cover in accordance with the present invention comprises a display module which is installed in the back of the chair, a protective cover for covering the display module thereby shielding the display module, and a connecting mechanism formed between the protective cover and the back of the chair or the frame of the display module. The protective cover is secured to the back of the chair or the frame fo the display module via the connecting mechanism and is for covering the display module thereby shielding the display module.
- The protective cover is generally equal to or slightly larger than the display module in size. The protective cover further comprises a pad attached or formed on the protective cover facing the display module for contacting the display module. The pad is made of a soft material, such as leather, fiber, cotton, rubber or sponge.
- The connecting mechanism provides a means for removably securing the protective cover to the seat back of display module. The connecting mechanism is for example, a zipper with one side connecting with the back and the other side connecting with the protective cover.
- Alternatively, the connecting mechanism comprises a plurality of snaps each having one part connecting with the back and the other part connecting with the protective cover.
- Alternatively, the connecting mechanism comprises a plurality of sticky strips or pieces of Velcro, each having one part connecting with the back and the other part connecting with the protective cover.
- The protective cover can have an edge fixedly connecting with the back of the chair or is separatable from the back.
- Other objects, advantages and novel features of the present invention will be drawn from the following detailed embodiments of the present invention with attached drawings, in which:
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a seat back display with protective cover according to an embodiment of the present invention; -
FIG. 2 is another perspective view of the display showing the protective cover being secured to the back of the chair; -
FIG. 3 is a perspective view of a seat back display with a protective cover according to an embodiment of the present invention; and -
FIG. 4 is a perspective view of a seat back display with a protective cover according to an embodiment of the present invention. - Referring to
FIGS. 1-2 , a seat back display with a protective cover of the present invention includes adisplay module 10, aprotective cover 20 and aconnecting mechanism 30. Thedisplay module 10 is received in a receiving chamber of theback 40 of the chair. Theprotective cover 20 covers thedisplay module 10 and is generally equal to or slightly larger than thedisplay module 10 in size. Apad 21 is formed on or attached to theprotective cover 20 facing thedisplay module 10 for contacting thedisplay module 10 and thereby reducing the contact area between theprotective cover 20 and thedisplay module 10. Thepad 21 is preferably made of a soft material, such as leather, fiber, cotton, rubber or sponge, for facilitating protection of the screen of thedisplay module 10. - In an embodiment of the present invention, the
connecting mechanism 30 is formed between theprotective cover 20 and theback 40 of the chair and comprises azipper 31 with one side connecting with theback 40 and the other side connecting with theprotective cover 20. When thezipper 31 is closed, theprotective cover 20 covers thedisplay module 10 for shielding thedisplay module 10. When thezipper 31 is opened, thedisplay module 10 is exposed to a user. Thus, when thedisplay module 10 is not in used, theprotective cover 20 covers thedisplay module 10 thereby preventing thedisplay module 10 from accumulating dust or being scratched or damaged. Additionally, the protective cover hides thedisplay module 10 and thereby prevents thedisplay module 10 from being stolen. - Referring to
FIG. 3 , a seat back display with a protective cover in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention is shown and includes adisplay module 10, aprotective cover 20 and aconnecting mechanism 50. Theconnecting mechanism 50 includes a plurality of buttons orsnaps 51 each having one part connected with the seat back 40 and the other part connected with theprotective cover 20 thereby securing theprotective cover 20 to theback 40 for shielding thedisplay module 10. - Referring to
FIG. 4 , a display with a shield cap for a back of a chair in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention is shown and includes adisplay module 10, aprotective cover 20 and aconnecting mechanism 60. Theconnecting mechanism 60 includes a plurality of sticky strips or strips of Velcro 61 each having one part connected with aback 40 of a chair and the other part connected with theprotective cover 20 thereby securing theprotective cover 20 to theback 40 for shielding thedisplay module 10. - In addition, the
protective cover 20 may have an edge fixedly connecting with theback 40 of the chair, or it can be separatable from theback 40. - Thus, when the
display module 10 is not in used, thedisplay module 10 is covered by theprotective cover 20 thereby preventing thedisplay module 10 from accumulating dust or being scratched or damaged. Additionally, the protective cover hides the display module from view and prevents the display module from being stolen. - It is understood that the invention may be embodied in other forms without departing from the spirit thereof. Thus, the present examples and embodiments are to be considered in all respects as illustrative and not restrictive, and the invention is not to be limited to the details given herein.
