Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates generally to merchandising display assemblies. More specifically, the present invention discloses an elongated and three-sided merchandising display assembly, capable of being mounted to a vertically extending support structure, and for supporting thereupon product display hangers in turn supporting individual volumes of merchandise.
  • 2. Description of the Prior Art
  • The prior art is well documented with various examples of merchandising display assemblies. Examples of wall mountable and revolving display units are disclosed in U.S. Design Patent No. 320,719, issued to Kolsrud et al., and U.S. Design Patent No. 327,187, issued to Swon. Each of the Kolsrud and Swon patents teaches a four-sided and rotatable display, each of the surfaces thereof consisting of a pegboard like surface, upon which volumes of product can be supported.
  • Another example of a rotatable merchandising display is set forth in U.S. Design Patent No. 462,556, issued to Shea, and which teaches a three-sided and elongated grid assembly supported at upper and lower ends by a pair of horizontally extending and telescopically extensible support arms. A further example of a three-sided and substantially “U” shaped grid element, secured to a pair of upper and lower extending and telescopic support, is set forth in U.S. Design Patent No. 457,770.
  • SUMMARY OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
  • The present invention teaches a combination spin panel and telescopically adjustable power arm assembly for supporting and displaying pluralities of merchandise from a vertically extending support surface. In particular, the present invention combines the feature of impulse merchandising product placement with self-integrated advertisement indicia for increasing retailer space utilization and profit.
  • A horizontally extending member secures at a first end to a location of the vertically extending support surface and, in a preferred embodiment, includes such as a telescoping assembly with a foot support configured for engaging such as a slotted backplate portion associated with the vertical support surface.
  • A display assembly suspends from a second end of said horizontally extending member and includes a multi (typically three) sided display panel, a plurality of apertures being formed in spaced increments through at least one of said display panel sides and as specified locations. A pair of multi-sided brackets each include edge-extending flanges, and in order to support the multi-sided display panel at top and bottom locations. Fasteners secure each of the top and bottom panel locations to associated sides of the brackets.
  • Another fastener extends downwardly from the second end of said horizontal member and engages through an upper surface location of a top located bracket. Typically, a nut attached to an extending end of the fastener and in order to suspend the display assembly from the horizontal member in a freely rotatable manner.
  • Product hangers engage through the apertures and in order to support thereupon individual volumes of the product merchandise. Advertisement indicia is placed upon at least one of the display panel sides, and in at least partially non-obscuring fashion relative to the hangers and product merchandise.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • Referring now to the several drawing figures, a combined spin panel and horizontal support assembly 10 is illustrated for supporting and displaying pluralities of merchandise from a vertically extending support surface. As previously stated, the present invention combines the feature of impulse merchandising product placement with self-integrated advertisement indicia for increasing retailer space utilization and profit.
  • As initially shown in FIG. 1, a horizontally extending member is provided and includes such as a telescopically adjustable arm including first 12 and second 14 telescoping portions. In a preferred embodiment, the horizontally extending member includes a foot support 16 for securing to slotted backplate 18, and such as is associated with a vertically extending surface 20. In an alternate variant, see FIG. 1A, the telescoping portions 12 and 14 are substituted by a fixed horizontal arm 17 (typically) a flat elongated metal bracket, and to an end of which is secured a foot support 19.
  • As best further illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 7, a series of apertures along an underside surface of a selected telescoping portion, see such as at 21 for telescoping portion 12 in FIG. 7. A push button, see at 23 in FIG. 3, is associated with an inserted location of the telescoping portion 14 and in order to selectively lock the telescoping portions in a selected spaced apart arrangement.
  • A display assembly suspends from a second end of the horizontally extending member, and such as in particular from an end 22 of telescoping portion 12. The display includes a multi-sided display panel and such as which is constructed by such as a durable and substantially rigid material, such as a plastic or a paperboard material.
  • In the preferred embodiment, a three-sided display panel, illustrated by panels 24, 26 and 28, is provided and which is folded about its edges to define an elongated and triangular cross-sectional shaped element. A lip 30 extends from a selected edge location of the multi-sided panel, such as from third interconnected side 28, and for assembling said display panel into a polygonal cross-sectional shaped and elongate extending article. In a preferred application, the lid 30 is either glued or otherwise mechanically/chemically affixed to an opposing inner edge surface of the side 24.
  • A pair of multi-sided brackets are illustrated at 32 and 34 and correspond to top and bottom mounting locations for the assembled and multi-sided display panels. Each of the brackets 32 and 34 include side extending and angled flange portions and this is best illustrated in phantom in FIG. 8 by which angled flange portions 36, 38 and 40 are associated with sides 24, 26 and 28 respectively and for supporting the multi-sided display panel at the top and bottom locations.
  • Fasteners secure each of the top and bottom panel locations to associated sides of the brackets. Reference in particular is made to rivets 42, such as in particular being illustrated in each of FIGS. 6-8, and which secure through associated top and bottom locations of each interconnecting panel side 24, 26 and 28 to engage associated flange portions of the upper 32 and lower 34 brackets. Reference is further directed to apertures 44 illustrated in selected angled flange portions 38 and 40 in the top bracket 32 of FIG. 8.
  • A further fastener 46 extends downwardly from the second end 22 of the horizontal telescoping portion 12 and engages through an upper surface location of a top located bracket 32. Typically, one or more nuts, see at 48 in FIG. 1, attaches to extending ends of the fastener 46 and in order to suspend the display assembly from the horizontal member in a freely rotatable manner.
  • A plurality of apertures, see for example spaced apart and longitudinally extending pairs 50, are formed in spaced increments through at least one, and preferably all three, of the interconnected display panel sides. As illustrated in FIG. 1, product hangers 52 engage through the apertures 50 and in order to support thereon individual volumes of the product merchandise, see as further referenced in phantom 54 in FIG. 1.
  • Referring again finally to FIG. 1, advertisement indicia markings 56 are placed upon at least one of the display panel sides, and in at least partially non-obscuring fashion relative to the hangers 52 and product merchandise 54. In this manner, the present invention combines the feature of impulse merchandising product placement with self-integrated advertisement indicia for increasing retailer space utilization and profit.
  • Having described my invention, other and additional preferred embodiments will become apparent to those skilled in the art to which it pertains, and without deviating from the scope of the appended claims.
