Definitions
- the makeup compact is perhaps one of most common types of makeup products carried by women. They often turn it throughout the day to not only check on their makeup using the included mirror, but to freshen it as well should it be needed. However, when it is used, these women are often in less than ideal lighting situations, such as in an automobile, an office setting, a dimly lit restaurant or the like. In these instances, any attempt at adjusting or applying makeup is a hit or miss situation at best. Even the most professionally applied makeup can be inadvertently ruined by a few careless strokes when the user is not able to see what they are doing. Accordingly, there exists a need for a means by which users can check and apply makeup anywhere without the need for bright ambient light levels. The development of the Illuminated Make-Up Compact fulfills this need.
- the Illuminated Make-Up Compact is a makeup compact with an integral lighting system.
- the invention looks like a conventional makeup compact commonly used by women to apply facial makeup.
- integral lights surrounding the mirror are automatically turned on.
- the lights provide a bright, but soft light to aid in the application of the contained makeup.
- the lights are powered by an internal battery, preferably a lithium cell for its high power to weight ratio.
- a dimmer switch is provided to allow the user to control the light level to match the surrounding ambient light level.
- the materials required to produce the Illuminated Make-Up Compact are all readily available and well known to manufacturers of goods of this type.
- the compact case including the hinge assembly and snap latch would be made of plastic in an injection molding process requiring the design and use of custom molds. Special modifications and the design of a slightly larger enclosure to hold the batteries and lights may be required.
- the remaining components of the invention, namely the mirror, the makeup, the lamps, the batteries, the switches, the dimming mechanism and the like, would best be obtained from wholesalers and manufacturers that deal in goods of that nature and assembled at a final location.
Abstract
The compact case including the hinge assembly and snap latch would be made of plastic in an injection molding process requiring the design and use of custom molds. Special modifications and the design of a slightly larger enclosure to hold the batteries and lights may be required. The remaining components of the invention, namely the mirror, the makeup, the lamps, the batteries, the switches, the dimming mechanism and the like, would best be obtained from wholesalers and manufacturers that deal in goods of that nature and assembled at a final location. The relatively simple design of the invention and the materials of construction make the Illuminated Make-Up Compact a cost-effective design due to the relatively low material and labor costs involved. Final production of the Illuminated Make-Up Compact will be performed by manufacturing workers of average skill.
Description
- The Illuminated Make-Up Compact, as its name implies, is a makeup compact with an integral lighting system. Upon initial observation, the invention looks like a conventional makeup compact commonly used by women to apply facial makeup. However, after closer inspection, it can be seen that upon opening the compact, integral lights surrounding the mirror are automatically turned on. The lights provide a bright, but soft light to aid in the application of the contained makeup. The lights are powered by an internal battery, preferably a lithium cell for its high power to weight ratio. Additionally, a dimmer switch is provided to allow the user to control the light level to match the surrounding ambient light level. The use of the Illuminated Make-Up Compact, allows for the foolproof application of makeup, almost anywhere without the worry of poor lighting, in a manner, which is quick, easy and effective.
