Abstract

A golf club head includes a half-circle metal ring that extends outwards from the rear surface of the head. The weight of the half-circle metal ring is adjustable according to the weight of the head. The half-circle metal ring can be a solid ring or a hollow tube. By change in diameter of the cross section of the half-circle metal ring, the center of gravity moves back in the club head and the center-of-gravity angle as well as the depth of center-of-gravity are both increased so as to achieve greater hitting efficiency.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to a golf club head, especially to a head with a half-circle metal ring with certain weight being fixed on the rear surface. The half-circle metal ring extends outwards, perpendicular to the rear surface of the head so as to make the center of gravity of the head move back, increase the center-of-gravity angle and the depth of center-of-gravity of the head.
  • For golf clubs, especially to drivers, the design of the head directly affects the hitting efficiency. An optimum design of golf club head is a golf club head with larger angle of center-of-gravity, a longer depth of center-of-gravity, or an enlarged sweet spot. The design of the present inventions complies with the above demands.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • Therefore, it is a primary object of the present invention to provide a golf club head with a half-circle metal ring fixed on the rear surface. The half-circle metal ring protrudes outwards and locates perpendicular to the read side of the head. The weight of the half-circle metal ring is adjustable in accordance with the weight of the head. For example, the half-circle metal ring can be hollow tube or a solid ring that is changeable in diameter. Thus the center of gravity of the head moves back, the center-of-gravity angle is increased, and the depth of center-of-gravity is increased so that the hitting efficiency of the head is improved.
  • It is another object of the present invention to provide a golf club head with holes on the plane for fixing the half-circle metal ring. During the manufacturing process of the head, insert two screws and lock nuts into the holes on the rear surface and turn the screw until the nut is firmly seated so as to make the half-circle metal ring be fixed on the rear surface of the head easily.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The structure and the technical means adopted by the present invention to achieve the above and other objects can be best understood by referring to the following detailed description of the preferred embodiments and the accompanying drawings, wherein
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment in accordance with the present invention;
  • FIG. 2 is a front view of the embodiment shown in FIG. 1;
  • FIG. 3 is an explosive view of the embodiment shown in FIG. 1;
  • FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of the embodiment shown in FIG. 1;
  • FIG. 5 is another explosive view of the embodiment shown in FIG. 1;
  • FIG. 6 is another embodiment of the present invention;
  • FIG. 7 is a schematic diagram showing the center-of-gravity angle of the embodiment in FIG. 1;
  • FIG. 8 is a schematic diagram showing the depth of center-of-gravity of the embodiment in FIG. 1.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFFERED EMBODIMENT
  • Refer to FIG. 1 & FIG. 2, a golf club head 1 in accordance with the present invention includes a main body 10 and a half-circle metal ring 20. The main body 10, similar to general heads of drivers, is made of stainless steel, aluminum, or titanium. At least a hitting surface 11 and a rear surface 12 are arranged on the surface of the club main body 10. While the half-circle metal ring 20 is made of stainless steel, aluminum, or titanium in various shapes. It can be a half-circle ring as shown in FIG. 1 a half-square grip in FIG. 6, or other shapes. The half-circle metal ring 20 has two flat end surfaces 21 on the same plane so that both of them 21 are fixed firmly on the rear surface 12. The half-circle metal ring 20 is arranged perpendicular to the rear surface 12, extending outwards.
  • Furthermore, the weight of the half-circle metal ring 20 is adjustable in accordance with the weight of the main body 10. For example, the half-circle metal ring 20 is a hollow tube or a solid ring. Or by change in the diameter of the cross section of the half-circle metal ring 20, the weight can be adjusted so as to create more effective main body 10.
  • Refer to FIG. 7, the half-circle metal ring 20 makes the center-of-gravity of the club head 1 moves from location B back to the location A. Thus the depth of center-of-gravity of the club head 1 increases. Moreover, due to the backwards movement of the center-of-gravity of the club head 1, the center-of-gravity angle of the club head 1 also increases, as shown in FIG. 8. Therefore, the hitting efficiency is improved and makes it easier to get the ball in the air
  • The main body 10 is made by various processing methods.
  • Refer to FIG. 3 & FIG. 4, the rear surface 12 of a rear plate 13 is integrated into the main body 10′ by soldering at the final stage. While screw holes 22 are mounted on the end surface 21 of the half-circle metal ring 20. Screws 30 and the corresponding lock nuts 31 insert through the inner surface of the rear plate 13 and screw into the screw holes 22 so as to fix the half-circle metal ring 20 firmly on the rear surface 12 of the rear plate 13. Then the rear plate 13 is combined with the main body 10′. Refer to FIG. 5, a front plate 14 with the hitting surface 11 is integrated into the main body 10′ by soldering at last while screw holes 22 are mounted on the end surface 21 of the half-circle metal ring 20. Screws 30 and the corresponding lock nuts 31 insert through an opening 15 for the front plate 14 and screw into the screw holes 22 so as to fix the half-circle metal ring 20 firmly on the rear surface 12. Then the front plate 14 is combined with the main body 10′.
  • Additional advantages and modifications will readily occur to those skilled in the art. Therefore, the invention in its
