Abstract
A portable wash basin designed for children 3 years and up. Said apparatus can be connected to sink and pedestal lavatories with functional plumbing features and include a concealed interior removable water reservoir container for temporarily holding of used, dirty or soapy excess water, which can be locked for child safety. The apparatus is equipped with a pull out adjustable towel rack on the pedestal and built in pull out step underneath the pedestal. Said apparatus is designed with a storage compartment for placing dry clean hand towels, first aid kit or other items. Safety latches are located on the mobility apparatus to prevent the wash hand basin from moving while child performs hygiene routine. The portable wash basin can be used indoors or outdoors and incorporate various designs for commercial use in public places.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- As children continue to grow and develop learning skills it is extremely important to teach them about proper hygiene and growth development. Although there are books and magazines that instruct parents and guardians on raising children, there should also be devices to help children understand these important developmental characteristics at early ages.
- Children can sometimes face difficulties in using devices that are made for adults. For example, these devices can be too big for the children in height, width or volume. Such disadvantages in uses for the children can result in several safety hazards. Children face the risks of hurting themselves by climbing, leaning, or pulling on such devices that are intended for adult use only. In order to provide a safe environment for children to develop their proper hygiene and growth developments, the inventors are proposing the portable wash basin for
children 3 years and up. - 2. Description of the Prior Art
- The inventors have done in depth research on the subject matter and they believe that there is no device on the market that exists for correcting the above problems that children face during their growth development stages. Although the idea of sink and pedestal lavatories are very well known, there are essential features of the inventors' proposed invention that are not disclosed in the prior art.
- Various prior arts are design patents, and thus solely protect the ornamental design and are not suitable for children due to their tall heights and wide shapes. Other prior art teach towards cabinet coverings for lavatory pipes, but do not incorporate cabinet storages for dry, clean hand towels or other items. Although a few prior art anticipate sink and lavatory pedestals none have a design that incorporates pull out adjustable steps for child usage.
- It is quite obvious that the prior art lacks several safety features as well as functions that are included in the portable wash basin. Thus the portable wash basin is a useful, novel device and non-obvious whereby correcting the above problems for children during their early development stages.
- The preferred embodiment teaches towards a portable wash basin designed for
children ages 3 and up. Said apparatus is a sink and pedestal lavatory that can be connected to a larger sink with plumbing features for a source of clean running water. A sink and pedestal lavatory has the capacity to include several designs but its function remains the same. The proposed invention is portable and can be used indoors or outdoors. The interior of the lavatory pedestal is hollow to accommodate an inner removable water reservoir cabinet for temporarily holding the excess water that comes out of the pipe/valve/tube that is connected to a larger sink with plumbing features. The removable water reservoir incorporates a door safety lock to protect the child from gaining access to the excess dirty soapy water. The removable water reservoir also temporarily holds the excess dirty soapy water so that it can be discarded into the larger sink with plumbing features, a toilet or outdoors. The proposed invention includes a storage compartment for keeping dry clean hand towels, first aid kit or other items. The portable wash basin can have several designs further including two sinks and lavatory pedestals that are manufactured side by side horizontally or back to back. It can be used commercially, a device of three or four portable wash basins which connect in a circular design. The sink and lavatory pedestal is also equipped with a pull out and adjustable towel rack located on the pedestal of said apparatus. The proposed invention can also include built in pull out step underneath the lavatory pedestal for height assistance. The portable wash basin is equipped with safety latches on the wheel of said apparatus in order to keep said apparatus in place while the child performs their hygiene routine. - A preferred embodiment of the invention is described in detail in conjunction with the drawing of which:
-
FIG. 1 is a front orthographic view of the portable wash basin according to the preferred embodiment; -
FIG. 2 is a right side orthographic view of the portable wash basin according to the preferred embodiment; -
FIG. 3 is a back orthographic view of the portable wash basin according to the preferred embodiment; -
FIG. 4 is a top orthographic view of the portable wash basin according to the preferred embodiment; -
FIG. 5 is section view of the portable wash basin in which dotted images represent the storage compartment and the built in pull out steps for height assistance according to the preferred embodiment. - A
portable wash basin 10 according to the preferred embodiment is illustrated inFIGS. 1-5 . Please refer toFIG. 1 a front orthographic view of the portable wash basin according to the preferred embodiment in which said apparatus is in an upright position perpendicular to the ground plane. Thesource water regulator 9 of said apparatus is a conduit for the clean running water for theportable wash basin 10. The clean running water flows through thesource water regulator 9 by means of thesource water connector 3 inFIG. 2 . The clean running water enters through thesource water connector 3 and is released from thesource water regulator 9 into thewash basin 5 inFIG. 4 . The temperatures and speed of the running water is controlled from the main faucet with plumbing features which is connected to theportable wash basin 10 by means of thesource water connector 3. Please refer toFIG. 1 , the stationary faucet handles 12 and 12′, have no function except for ornamental design to theportable wash basin 10. For safety reasons, the adult controls and operates the water temperature and flow from the main faucet with plumbing features, to be released into thewash basin 5 in order to prevent any accidents or other similar occurrences. - The
portable wash basin 10 can be moved indoors and outdoors by means of themobility apparatus FIG. 3 the back orthographic view according to the preferred embodiment. Themobility apparatus safety latches portable wash basin 10 in place when the child is using said apparatus. Saidsafety latches mobility apparatus portable wash basin 10 to prevent said apparatus from rolling back or forward or failing over and causing any accidents or other similar occurrences. - Please refer to
FIG. 2 , in which thetowel holder 1 in theportable wash basin 10 serves as a pull out adjustable member of said apparatus. InFIG. 1 , saidtowel holder 1 incorporates deep patterned grooves or indentions for holding towels in place before, after or during the child's hygiene routine. The deep patterned grooves or indentions of thetowel holder 1 prevent the towel, whether wet or dry, from falling onto the floor and causing the child to slip, fall and injure himself - The clean flowing water enters from the
source water regulator 9, into thewash basin 5, by means of thesource water connector 3 and is released intowater reservoir 8 of said apparatus, please refer toFIG. 5 . The water that remains in thewater reservoir 8 is considered used, dirty or soapy water and is stored there until emptied from thewater reservoir cabinet 4 inFIG. 5 . According toFIG. 3 the back orthographic view of the preferred embodiment, the water reservoir cabinet can be opened in order to empty out the used, dirty, or soapy water that is stored in thewater reservoir 8. Thewater reservoir cabinet 4 is equipped with adoor safety lock 13 to prevent the child from gaining access to the used, dirty or soapy water. Thedoor safety lock 13 is a device that is connected to thewater reservoir cabinet 4. - The
storage compartment 6 of the preferred embodiment provides storage for dry towels, first aid kit and other items inFIG. 5 which slides in and out horizontally. The height assist 7 of theportable wash basin 10 pulls out to provide height support for younger children who are not capable of reaching thewash basin 5. Theheight assist 7 has deep indentions and grooves to prevent the child from slipping and falling in the case that theheight assist 7 should become slippery or wet. Theheight assist 7 also accommodates growing children by allowing them extended use of theportable wash basin 10 during their growth stages. - While the preferred embodiment of this invention has been presented and described in detail modifications therein may be made to enhance the function or appearance. It is intended therefore to be bound by the scope of the claims which follow.
