Abstract

A hanging cabinet includes a cabinet body made out of a flexible sheet material, a top hanging plate fixedly provided at the top side of the cabinet body and having a rod member horizontally provided at the top for the mounting of a swivel hook for hanging the cabinet body on an overhead hanging rod and a plurality of hanging holes for the mounting of hooks for hanging the cabinet body on a door panel, and a plurality of side bags with a top open side or one lateral open side provided at two vertical side panels of the cabinet body on the outside for keeping things.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • (a) Technical Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates a cabinet and more particularly; to a multipurpose hanging cabinet that can be hung inside a wardrobe or on an overhead place to keep clothes or other things and, that can be used independently or combined with another or other hanging cabinets of the same structure.
  • (b) Description of the Prior Art
  • Due to limited house space, people may hang a hanging cabinet on the back side of the door panel of the door of the kitchen or a wall inside a room for keeping small items. A conventional hanging cabinet is known comprising a body shell formed of tough and flexible sheet material (for example, canvass) and arranged around the top, bottom left and right sides, and a plurality of partition members arranged in the body shell at different elevations to divide the holding space of the body shell into having a plurality of front-open compartments for keeping things. A top opening may be formed in the top side of the body shell for the mounting of a hanger for hanging on a hanging rod inside a wardrobe or at a wall. Hook and loop materials may be used to secure the hanging cabinet to a hanging rod inside a wardrobe or at a wall. According to the aforesaid conventional design, the front-open compartments of the hanging cabinet each have a flat bottom wall that is kept in horizontal. Storage items may protrude over the front side of the front-open compartments, destructing the sense of beauty of the hanging cabinet. Further, storage items may fall out of the front-open compartments when the hanging cabinet is vibrated accidentally. Further, after installation of the hanging cabinet, the user cannot rotate the hanging cabinet through 360-degrees. This limitation narrows the application of the hanging cabinet.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The primary purpose of the present invention is to provide a hanging cabinet, which has additional side bags on the outside for keeping small items. It is another object of the present invention to provide a hanging cabinet, which keeps storage items from falling to the outside. It is still another object of the present invention to provide a hanging cabinet, which has a swivel hook for hanging on an overhead place so that the user can rotate the cabinet body to different directions convenient for arrangement of storage items.
  • According to one aspect of the present invention, the hanging cabinet comprises a cabinet body, which has two vertical side panels, a vertical back panel, and a plurality of transverse partition panels fastened to the vertical side panels and the vertical back panel at different elevations and defining with the vertical side panels and the vertical back panel a plurality of storage chambers, and a top hanging plate provided at the top side of the cabinet body. By means of the top hanging plate, two hanging cabinets can be fastened together.
  • According to another aspect of the present invention, the top hanging plate of the hanging cabinet has a plurality of hanging holes for the mounting of hanging hooks to hang the hanging cabinet on a door panel.
  • According to still another aspect of the present invention, the transverse partition panels are formed of a flexible sheet material, each having a downwardly extending suspending portion for keeping storage items in place.
  • According to still another aspect of the present invention, side bags are respectively mounted on the vertical side on the outside of the cabinet body for keeping small items. The side bags can be made having at least one horizontally extending open side, or a vertically upwardly extending open side.
  • According to another aspect of the present invention, each hanging cabinet has an oblique roof panel that define with the top side of the cabinet body a triangular storage space.
  • According to still another aspect of the present invention, a top hanging plate with a swivel hook is provided at the top side of the cabinet body for hanging. By means of the swivel hook, the hanging cabinet can be hung on a rod member inside a wardrobe and freely rotated through 360-degrees.
  • The foregoing object and summary provide only a brief introduction to the present invention. To fully appreciate these and other objects of the present invention as well as the invention itself, all of which will become apparent to those skilled in the art, the following detailed description of the invention and the claims should be read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. Throughout the specification and drawings identical reference numerals refer to identical or similar parts.
  • Many other advantages and features of the present invention will become manifest to those versed in the art upon making reference to the detailed description and the accompanying sheets of drawings in which a preferred structural embodiment incorporating the principles of the present invention is shown by way of illustrative example.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • The following descriptions are of exemplary embodiments only, and are not intended to limit the scope, applicability or configuration of the invention in any way. Rather, the following description provides a convenient illustration for implementing exemplary embodiments of the invention. Various changes to the described embodiments may be made in the function and arrangement of the elements described without departing from the scope of the invention as set forth in the appended claims.
  • Referring to FIGS. 2 and 4, a hanging cabinet in accordance with the present invention is shown comprising a cabinet body 1 made out of a tough and flexible sheet material (for example, canvass). The cabinet body 1 has two vertical side panels 11, a vertical back panel 18 connected between the two vertical side panels 11 at a rear side, and a plurality of horizontal partition panels 13 respectively connected between the two vertical side panels 11 at different elevations and defining with the vertical side panels 11 and the vertical back panel 12 a plurality of vertically spaced storage chambers 10 for keeping things. The horizontal partition panels 13 are tilted such that each storage chamber 10 slopes downwardly backwards toward the vertical back panel 18. The horizontal partition panels 13 may be directly stitched to the two vertical side panels 11 and the vertical back panel 12. Alternatively, hook and loop materials, snap means, or other fastening devices may be used to secure the horizontal partition panels 13 to the two vertical side panels 11 and the vertical back panel 18. Further, the partition panels 13 have a length greater than the depth of the storage chamber 10 such that each partition panel 13 has a downwardly extending suspending portion 131 (see FIG. 8).
  • A vertical partition panel 12 may be set between the two vertical side panels 11, as shown in FIG. 3, to divide each storage chamber 10 into two storage spaces.
  • Further, a hanging plate 15 is fixedly fastened to the top side of the vertical back panel 18. The hanging plate 15 has a top notch 151 formed on a horizontally extending top sleeve thereof at a suitable location, for example, on the middle. A rod member 16 is inserted into the horizontally extending top sleeve of the hanging plate 15. The hanging plate 15 further has a plurality of hanging holes 152 for the mounting of Z-hooks 4 to hang the hanging cabinet on a door panel or the like as shown in FIG. 5.
  • Further, side bags 14 are respectively provided on the outside of the vertical side panels 11 for keeping clothes or other small items. These side bags 14 are prepared from a flexible sheet material (canvass, meshed cloth) and stitched with seam lines, thereby forming a plurality of pockets 141 at different elevations for keeping things. Hook and loop materials or snap fasteners may be used to secure the side bags 14 to the vertical side panels 11.
  • Referring to FIGS. 2, 9A and 9B, a top hook 2 and a holder frame 23 are secured to the rod members 16 at the top hanging plates 15 of two cabinet bodies 1 for hanging the two cabinet bodies 1 on a rod member 3. The top hook 2 is pivotally coupled to the holder frame 23 that is fastened to the rod member 16 at the top side of the hanging plate 15. Bending a metal plate member into a predetermined shape, having a through hole 231, makes the holder frame 23. Before bending the metal plate member into shape to form the holder frame 23, the hook 2 is inserted through the through hole 231 with the expanded endpiece 21 thereof stopped at one side of the metal plate member. Further, a washer 22 is mounted on the hook 2 and stopped between the expanded endpiece 21. After insertion of the hook 2 through the through hole 231, the metal plate member is bent into two eyelets 232 around the rods 16 at the top side of the hanging plates 15. When installed, the top hook 2 can be rotated through 360-degrees relative to the hanging plates 15.
  • Referring to FIG. 2, the rod members 16 are respectively removed from the horizontally extending top sleeves of the hanging plates 15 of two cabinet bodies 1, and then the holder frame 23 is inserted into the top notches 151 of the hanging plates 15, and then the rod members 16 are respectively inserted into the horizontally extending top sleeves of the hanging plates 15 and the eyelets 232 of the holder frame 23, thereby causing the holder frame 23 and the top hook 2 to the two cabinet bodies 1.
  • FIG. 6 shows another alternate form of the present invention. According to this embodiment, two cabinet bodies 1 are attached together side-to-side-; each cabinet body 1 has an oblique roof panel 1, which defines with the top side of the respective cabinet body 1 a triangular storage space; each side bag 14 is stitched with a vertical seam line 142 on the middle.
  • FIG. 7 shows still another alternate form of the present invention. This embodiment is substantially similar to the embodiment shown in FIG. 6 with the exception the side bags 14 of this embodiment each have a top open side 141.
  • Although particular embodiments of the invention have been described in detail for purposes of illustration, various modifications and enhancements may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Accordingly, the invention is not to be limited except as by the appended claims.
  • It will be understood that each of the elements described above, or two or more together may also find a useful application in other types of methods differing from the type described above.
  • While certain novel features of this invention have been shown and described and are pointed out in the annexed claim, it is not intended to be limited to the details above, since it will be understood that various omissions, modifications, substitutions and changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in its operation can be made by those skilled in the art without departing in any way from the spirit of the present invention.

Claims (7)

1. A hanging cabinet comprising:
a cabinet body, said cabinet body having two vertical side panels arranged in parallel, a vertical back panel connected between said vertical side panels at a rear side, and a plurality of transverse partition panels connected to said vertical side panels and said vertical back panel at different elevations and defining with said vertical side panels and said vertical back panel a plurality of vertically spaces storage chambers;
a top hanging plate fixedly provided at a top side of said cabinet body, said top hanging plate having a rod member horizontally provided at a top side thereof; and
a swivel hook fastened to the rod member of said top hanging plate for hanging, said swivel hook comprising a holder frame fastened to the rod member of said top hanging plate, and a top hook pivoted to said holder frame.
2. The hanging cabinet as claimed in claim 1, wherein said vertical side panels, said vertical back panel and said partition panels are respectively formed of a flexible sheet material.
3. The hanging cabinet as claimed in claim 2, wherein said partition panels slope downwardly backwards toward said vertical back panel.
4. The hanging cabinet as claimed in claim 1, wherein said top hanging plate has a plurality of hanging holes.
5. The hanging cabinet as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a plurality of side bags respectively provided at said vertical side panels outside said cabinet body.
6. The hanging cabinet as claimed in claim 5, wherein said side bags each have at least one horizontally extending lateral open side.
7. The hanging cabinet as claimed in claim 1, wherein said side bags each have an upwardly extending top open side.
