FIG. 1 , anengaging structure 100 for an electronic device according to an exemplary embodiment includes afirst substrate 10, anengaging member 20, a reinforcingmember 30 and asecond substrate 40. The electronic device may be a mobile phone, or personal digital assistant, etc. - Referring to
FIGS. 2 and 3 together withFIG. 1 , thefirst substrate 10 includes afirst surface 11 and an oppositesecond surface 12 facing thesecond substrate 40. Arecess 111 is defined on thefirst surface 11 and is shaped and sized to receive theengaging member 20. Two guidingslots 13, afixing slot 14 and a first throughhole 15 are defined through thefirst substrate 10 in therecess 111. The guidingslots 13 and thefixing slot 14 are defined in an approximately isosceles-triangle fashion at two opposite sides of the first throughhole 15. The distance between one guidingslot 13 and thefixing slot 14 is approximately equal to that between another guidingslot 13 and thefixing slot 14. Aflange portion 16 is formed on thesecond surface 12 around the first throughhole 15. Acutout 17 is defined at a side of theflange portion 16 close to thefixing slot 14. Twoengaging portions 18 are formed away from theflange portion 16 on thesecond surface 12. Eachengaging portion 18 extends towards the first throughhole 15. Eachengaging portion 18 may define an engaging groove (not shown inFIG. 2 ). Twoside latching protrusions 19 extend respectively from thesecond surface 12 at twoopposite side portions 19a of thefirst substrate 10. - Referring to
FIGS. 3 and 4 , theengaging member 20 includes atop surface 21 and anopposite bottom surface 22. Twofirst latching protrusions 23 and afixing protrusion 24 are formed on thebottom surface 22, corresponding to the guidingslots 13 and thefixing slot 14 when theengaging member 20 is coupled to thefirst substrate 10. The extending directions of distal ends of the twofirst latching protrusions 23 from thebottom surface 22 are the same as the extending direction of a distal end of thefixing protrusion 24 from thebottom surface 22. A second throughhole 25 is defined through theengaging member 20. - Referring to
FIGS. 3-5 , the reinforcingmember 30 is made from elastic material, such as rubber or elastic plastic. The reinforcingmember 30 is approximately T-shaped and includes anabutting portion 31, a receivingportion 32 and a connectingportion 33 configured for connecting the abuttingportion 31 to thereceiving portion 32. Twoabutting blocks 311 extends from theabutting portion 31 along a direction same as the extending directions of two distal ends of the twofirst latching protrusions 23. Thereceiving portion 32 defines a third throughhole 321 aligned with the first throughhole 15 when the reinforcingmember 30 is coupled to thefirst substrate 10. A lens module (not shown) may be received in the third throughhole 321. Astopping block 34 extends from thereceiving portion 32 away from the connectingportion 33. When the reinforcingmember 30 is coupled to thefirst substrate 10, thestopping block 34 is received in thecutout 17. - A U-shaped
elongated groove 35 is further defined at a surface of the connectingportion 33 facing thefirst substrate 10 corresponding to the side of theflange portion 16 opposite to the side of the flange portion defining thecutout 17. In this embodiment, threelatching slots 36 are separately defined in theabutting portion 31. - Referring to
FIG. 6 together withFIGS. 2 and 4 , thesecond substrate 40 includes threesecond latching protrusions 42 extending towards the reinforcingmember 30 corresponding to thelatching slots 36. The reinforcingmember 30 may be fixed to thesecond substrate 40 by eachsecond latching protrusion 42 of thesecond substrate 40 engaging in eachlatching slot 36 of the reinforcingmember 30. Twothird latching protrusions 44 extend from thesecond substrate 40. An extending direction of a distal end of eachthird latching protrusion 44 is same as that of the distal end of thesecond latching protrusion 23. Eachthird latching protrusion 44 may be engaged with a correspondingengaging portion 18. Twoengaging grooves 46 are defined at twoopposite side portions 48 of thesecond substrate 40, being engaged by theside latching protrusions 19. - Referring to
FIGS. 1-2 and 6-9, when theengaging structure 100 is assembled, the reinforcingmember 30 is fixed to thesecond substrate 40 by engaging thethird latching protrusion 42 with thesecond substrate 40 through thelatching slot 36, as shown inFIG. 1 . Thefirst substrate 10 is coupled to thesecond substrate 40 by an engagement between theside latching protrusion 19 and theengaging groove 46, and by an engagement between theengaging portions 18 and the third latching protrusions 44 (thethird protrusion 44 is engaged in the engaging groove of the engaging portion 18). As a result, theabutting blocks 311 of the reinforcingmember 30 directly face the guidingslots 13 and the first throughhole 15 is aligned with the third throughhole 321, as shown inFIG. 7 . The side of theflange portion 16 corresponding to theelongated groove 35 is received in theelongated groove 35. In this way, thereceiving portion 32 can be easily and accurately received in theflange portion 16. Alignment between the first throughhole 15 and the third throughhole 321 can be easily achieved (seen inFIGS. 3 , 5 and 7). Thefixing protrusion 24 is received in thefixing slot 14 by guidance of thestopping block 34. Thestopping block 34 is received in thecutout 17. - The
engaging member 20 is coupled to thefirst substrate 10 and received in therecess 111. Thesecond latching protrusion 23 engages in the guidingslot 13 and abuts against the correspondingabutting block 311. The second throughhole 25 is aligned with the first throughhole 15. Light may pass through the second throughhole 25 and the first throughhole 15 in that order to be received by a lens module (not shown) in thereceiving portion 32. Referring toFIG. 9 , when theabutting block 311 is abutted by thesecond latching protrusion 23, theabutting block 311 is deformed to generate stress to thesecond latching protrusion 23 towards the extending direction of the distal end of thesecond latching protrusion 23. In this way, the engagingmember 20 can engage with thefirst substrate 10 firmly and permanently. - It is to be understood, however, that even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present disclosure have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the disclosure, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the disclosure to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
