Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • This invention relates to articles of clothing and more particularly, clothing having an inner non-permeable material that covers and prevents topical creams that are applied to a user's skin from staining clothes and from evaporating from the user's skin.
  • Laser hair removal is a medical procedure that uses laser light to permanently remove unwanted hair from the human body. Laser hair removal works by passing a light beam through the skin. The laser targets dark pigments, called melanin, located in hair follicles. When the light beam hits a hair follicle, intense heat created by the light beam destroys the hair follicle. To be effective, laser hair removal requires multiple treatments over an extended period of time. A downside to laser hair removal is the pain caused by the laser. Patients undergoing laser hair removal are prescribed a topical anesthetic, which is a numbing cream that the patients must apply to the skin on the area to be treated prior to treatment. To effectively numb the treatment area, the cream must be applied at least ninety minutes before undergoing treatment. In addition, patients must cover the treatment area and the numbing cream with a non-permeable material, such as plastic wrap, to prevent the cream from evaporating. The use of plastic wrap to cover treatment areas can be very uncomfortable especially considering some of the sensitive areas that patients have hair removed from, such as the bikini line and genitals. Further, unless the plastic wrap is held securely against the skin, there is a chance the cream will evaporate rendering the numbing cream ineffective. There is also a chance that the cream could leak out onto clothes and cause stains. In addition, wearing the plastic and cream can be a large inconvenience for a patient who has to go to a laser hair removal appointment strait from work.
  • Therefore, a need exists for an article of clothing with an inner non-permeable liner that is comfortable to wear and can be he Id securely against the skin, thereby covering the treatment area and numbing cream and preventing the cream from evaporating.

  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The primary object of the present invention is to provide an article of clothing with an inner non-permeable liner that prevents topical creams applied to a user's skin from evaporating off of the user's skin.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide an article of clothing with an inner non-permeable liner that prevents topical creams applied to a user's skin from leaking and staining clothes.
  • A further object of the present invention is to provide an article of clothing with an inner non-permeable liner that is comfortable to wear.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide an article of clothing with an inner non-permeable liner that is discreet when worn.
  • The present invention fulfills the above and other objects by providing an article of clothing having an outer layer of material and an inner non-permeable liner that fits into articles of clothing and is either temporarily or permanently attached to the articles of clothing. The non-permeable liner is available in different shapes to cover the different areas of the skin that patients have hair removed from, such as the back, chest, arm pits, bikini line and the legs. For example, if a patient is having laser hair removal performed on her bikini line she would cover the treatment area and the numbing cream applied to the treatment area with an inner non-permeable liner shaped like underwear that is either temporarily attached or permanently attached the crotch area of a pair of shorts. The outer layer of material is preferably made of a material having elastomeric qualities, such as spandex, lycra, etc, that will ensure that the inner non-permeable liner is pressed firmly against the skin of a user. The outer perimeter of the non-permeable liner may have a raised edge and/or elastic to ensure that the numbing cream does not escape out of the sides of the non-permeable liner. The non-permeable liner may also be applied to other articles of clothing, such as leggings if one is having laser hair removal performed on the legs, and shirts if one is having laser hair removal performed on the chest, arm pits, and/or back.
