Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a protective device and, more particularly, to a protective device for a notebook computer.
- 2. Description of the Related Art
- A conventional support bracket is used to support a notebook computer so as to provide a heat dissipation effect to the notebook computer. However, the support bracket is mad of metal so that the notebook computer is easily scratched or worn by the support bracket due to a frequent friction or hit.
- In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a protective device, comprising a foldable and expandable support bracket and a resilient protective jacket removably mounted on the support bracket to fold and expand in concert with the support bracket.
- The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a protective device for a notebook computer having multiple functions.
- According to the primary objective of the present invention, the protective jacket covers the support bracket completely and is placed between the support bracket and the notebook computer to prevent the notebook computer from being scratched or worn by the support bracket due to frequent friction or hit.
- According to another objective of the present invention, the protective jacket is partially removed from the support bracket and is expanded to have a flat shape so that the protective jacket can function as a mouse mat to place a mouse of the notebook computer.
- According to a further objective of the present invention, the protective jacket is removed from the support bracket so that the protective jacket can function as a cloth to wipe a monitor of the notebook computer.
- Further benefits and advantages of the present invention will become apparent after a careful reading of the detailed description with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.

FIG. 10 is a schematic operational view of the protective jacket of the protective device for a notebook computer as shown inFIG. 2 . -
FIG. 11 is a schematic operational view of the protective jacket of the protective device for a notebook computer as shown inFIG. 2 . - Referring to the drawings and initially to
FIGS. 1-7 , a protective device for a notebook computer in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a foldable andexpandable support bracket 2 and a resilientprotective jacket 1 removably mounted on thesupport bracket 2 to fold and expand in concert with thesupport bracket 2. - The
support bracket 2 includes twosupport arms 21 which are used to support a notebook computer. Thesupport bracket 2 has a surface provided with twoelongate slots 22 to allow passage of the twosupport arms 21. - The
protective jacket 1 has a size and a shape flush with that of thesupport bracket 2. Theprotective jacket 1 consists of aninner layer 15 and anouter layer 11 enclosed around theinner layer 15. Theinner layer 15 of theprotective jacket 1 is fully covered by and hidden in theouter layer 11 of theprotective jacket 1. Theinner layer 15 of theprotective jacket 1 is made of an elastomeric material, such as a SBR rubber foam material and the like so that theprotective jacket 1 is expandable and contractible. Theouter layer 11 of theprotective jacket 1 is made of a cloth, such as a high fiber cloth and the like. - The
protective jacket 1 has a surface provided with two elongate throughholes 111 to allow passage of the two supportarms 21 of thesupport bracket 2. Theprotective jacket 1 has a periphery provided with acloth rim 12 by sewing. - The
protective jacket 1 has a first side provided with a plurality ofmounting pieces 13 for mounting thesupport bracket 2 and a second side provided with a plurality ofnon-slip pads 14. Themounting pieces 13 of theprotective jacket 1 are located at four corners of theprotective jacket 1. Themounting pieces 13 and thenon-slip pads 14 of theprotective jacket 1 are located opposite relative to each other. - As shown in
FIG. 5 , when thesupport bracket 2 is bent and folded inwardly, theprotective jacket 1 is also bent and folded inwardly to protect thesupport bracket 2. - As shown in
FIGS. 6 and 7 , when thesupport bracket 2 is expanded outwardly and disposed at an inclined angle, thesupport arms 21 of thesupport bracket 2 extend through theslots 22 of thesupport bracket 2 and the throughholes 111 of theprotective jacket 1 and protrude outwardly from the throughholes 111 of theprotective jacket 1 to support a notebook computer 3 (seeFIG. 9 ). Thus, thesupport bracket 2 can support thenotebook computer 3 in an inclined manner to provide a heat dissipation effect to thenotebook computer 3. In addition, theprotective jacket 1 is placed between thesupport bracket 2 and thenotebook computer 3 to prevent thenotebook computer 3 from being scratched or worn by thesupport bracket 2. - As shown in
FIGS. 8 and 9 , theprotective jacket 1 is partially removed from thesupport bracket 2 and is expanded to have a flat shape so that theprotective jacket 1 can function as a mouse mat to place amouse 31 of thenotebook computer 3. - As shown in
FIGS. 10 and 11 , theprotective jacket 1 is removed from thesupport bracket 2 so that theprotective jacket 1 can function as a cloth to wipe amonitor 32 of thenotebook computer 3. - Accordingly, the
protective jacket 1 covers thesupport bracket 2 completely and is placed between thesupport bracket 2 and thenotebook computer 3 to prevent thenotebook computer 3 from being scratched or worn by thesupport bracket 2 due to frequent friction or hit. In addition, theprotective jacket 1 is partially removed from thesupport bracket 2 and is expanded to have a flat shape so that theprotective jacket 1 can function as a mouse mat to place amouse 31 of thenotebook computer 3. Further, theprotective jacket 1 is removed from thesupport bracket 2 so that theprotective jacket 1 can function as a cloth to wipe amonitor 32 of thenotebook computer 3. - Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment(s) as mentioned above, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention. It is, therefore, contemplated that the appended claim or claims will cover such modifications and variations that fall within the true scope of the invention.
