Abstract
A golf glove hand warmer compartment is a significant upgrade to the standard golf glove. By holding an air activated hand warmer in place, heat is transferred directly and continuously to the back of the hand. Thermally conductive fabric transfers heat from the back of the hand to the fingers. A simple hook and loop clasp not only facilitates the ease of insertion and removal of the hand warmer, but also secures the hand warmer in place during the rigors of a golf swing.
Description
- I claim prior benefit of provisional patent application No. 61/283,662 filed Dec. 7, 2009.
- This invention relates to an invention to a golf glove. A compartment is sewn in as an integral part if the golf glove. This compartment is to hold a hand warmer. The warmer is secured in place with a hook and loop clasp.
- Golf is played outdoors in differing climatic condition. With more adverse conditions, more discomfort is experienced by the golfer. A common condition during the colder days is coldness of the hands. The colder the hands get, the more difficult it is to grip a golf club. Air activated hand warmers are available to help relieve this situation. Holding the hand warmer in place, strategically located in the inside back hand portion of the glove, would be an asset to a golfer to aid in keeping the golfers' hands warm.
- A golf glove hand warmer compartment facilitates playing golf in cold weather. By containing the hand warmer as an integral part of the glove, this frees the hands up to execute the game. Mounting the compartment on the internal backhand portion of the glove is beneficial whereby the hand warmer does not interfere with the golfers' grip. Thermally conductive fabric, extending from the backhand wrist to each of the backhand fingertips, transfers heat from the backhand to the fingertips.
- The pocket portion (details 3 and 5) of the hand warmer compartment is to be secured on three sides with the opening at the base (back hand wrist portion) of the glove. The pocket can be glued or sewn in place. In this case sewing optimizes the design. The pocket can be rectangular, trapezoidal, or conform to the seams of the glove. The pocket pattern in detail 3 conforms to the seams of the glove. The stitching depicted in detail 3 is oversized for clarity. The key issue here is the ability of the pocket to accommodate a hand warmer of at least 2″ by 3½″ rectangle and ½″ of thickness.
- The pocket portion can be made from any fabric, synthetic fabric or animal skin. The material of choice here is an elastic fabric. The elastic quality allows the pocket to conform to the contours of the hand to help facilitate a comfortable fit.
- The closure is located at the base of the wrist (detail 4). The opening of the hand warmer compartment can be secured closed in many ways. A zipper, metal snap, plastic snap, or hook and loop can be used. The optimal clasp used is hook and loop due to its innocuous quality. The stitching of the clasp in
detail 4 is oversized for clarity. The mating portions of the hook and loop clasp are depicted indetails 6 and 7. - Thermally conductive fabric is used to transfer heat from the back hand area to the fingers. The thermally conductive fabric begins at the inside back hand edge of the glove. Said fabric continuously extends inside through the back hand portion, inside past the knuckles, inside through each back hand finger, terminating at the finger tips.

FIG. 2 shows the front view of the glove looking inside the glove.
