Abstract

This invention embodies a floating hammock that attached to the front or side of a boat in a manner that allows for ease of deployment and storage. This invention has stiffeners on the front and sides that prevent the device from collapsing upon itself while users may lie in the middle in a partially submerged fashion for maximum enjoyment of the water while on a boat in a static position. The device then easily stores by rolling up and locking down on the front or side of the boat for use at a later time.

  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • This invention relates generally to a floating device used for recreation where the users may rest upon it in the water. This device has been invented mainly for use in bodies of water where boats are used. This invention allows for easy storage and deployment from the side or front of a boat in a static position. Floating devices that allow the user to be partially submerged in the water improve the relaxation and enjoyment of swimming along side of a boat. This device allows the user to be partially submerged and close to the boat. Floating devices for use in water recreation have been used for many years. This device allows for the above enjoyment with the improved ease of deployment and retrieval for maximum enjoyment.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF INVENTION
  • The primary object of this device is to allow for ease of deployment and retrieval and storage of a floating device that is attached to a pontoon boat or speed boat. This floating hammock allows the user to simply deploy the device from the front or side of a boat that allows two to three users to float in the water partially submerged. The partial submersion in the water allows the user to stay cool and sun bath in the water with the security of being attached to the boat in a static position. This device is not intended to be deployed with the boat moving. This device is an improvement on a simple floating device because it is attached to the boat and it allows more than one person to lounge in this device in a lake or other body of water.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
  • This invention may be better understood by reading the detailed drawing descriptions.
  • FIG. 1 shows a top view of the floating hammock not attached to a pontoon boat.
  • FIG. 2 shows a side view of the floating hammock deployed in the water.
  • FIG. 3 shows a top view of the floating hammock deployed in the water.
  • FIG. 4 shows a side view of the floating hammock in the stored position on a pontoon boat.
  • FIG. 5 shows a front view of the floating hammock in the stored position on a pontoon boat.
  • FIG. 6 shows the device deployed from the side of a speed boat.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
  • Referring to FIG. 1, part 1 is a strap located on both sides of the device that attach the entire device to the boat. Part 2 is a buckle that allows the part 1 to be tightened or loosened to the desired length. Part 3 is another strap that connects part 4 to part 1 in a manner that stiffens the connection between the boat and device. Part 5 is another strap that is connected to part 3 with a part 2, buckle for adjustment. Part 4, another stiffener that is made of plastic that runs along the inside of a fine Styrofoam floatation, part 6, which encapsulates the device (part 4). Part 7 is a mesh nylon fabric that is connected to part 4 and 6 on the top where the device is attached to the boat and part 6 floating.
  • Referring to FIG. 2, the device is shown from a side view. It is shown how part 4 is attached to the front of a pontoon boat and the device is deployed in front of the boat. The users then may lay in a partially submerged fashion on top of part 7 as shown in FIG. 1. The stiffeners, part 4 prevent the device from collapsing inward while the users are lying on top of part 7.
  • Referring now to FIG. 3, another top view is shown with the device attached to a pontoon boat in a deployed position. Users can easily climb over the sides and front in order to lie in the middle of the device in a partially submerged fashion.
  • Referring now to FIG. 4, this view shows the device in a stored position from the side. Part 7 from FIG. 1 is rolled up around part 4 between the two sides.
  • Referring now to FIG. 5, this view shows a front view of the device in a stored position. In this position the boat may then move to the next desired location or docked for use at a later time.
