Abstract

The invention relates to a dispensing container for wipes comprising: A dispensing container (1) featuring a dispensing aperture (2) to dispense wipes (3) and at least one variable width means (11 a, 11 b) built into the dispensing container (1) to enable the user to secure the dispensing container (1) to a surface on which it is standing with the user's knees engaging the variable width means (11 a, 11 b).

Description

  • The present invention relates to a dispensing container for wipes with an integral means for enabling the dispensing container to be secured to a surface upon which it is standing.
  • Various types of dispensing containers are known such as tubs of wipes. Much of the time these dispensing containers can be left on a shelf or other surface when not in use, but are then picked up manually to use them. This often requires the use of both hands to dispense the contents.
  • When using wipes, it is usually necessary to hold the wipe container with one hand, whilst withdrawing a wipe from the container with the other hand, to give stability to the wipe container and prevent it from falling over. It can however be inconvenient to have both hands tied up with this operation. For example when changing a nappy, it is more convenient to be able to hold wriggling baby's legs with one hand, and then access and extract a wipe from a container with the other.
  • The invention seeks to provide a solution to this problem.
  • According to the present invention there is provided a dispensing container for wipes comprising:
    • a) a dispensing aperture at one end of the dispensing container to dispense wipes.
    • b) at least one variable width means built into the dispensing container to enable the user to secure the dispensing container to a surface on which it is standing with the user's knees engaging the variable width means.
  • Preferably the variable width means to secure the dispensing container to the surface on which it is standing comprises a protrusion located towards the bottom of the dispensing container.
  • Preferably the variable width means to secure the dispensing container to the surface on which it is standing comprises indented areas on the dispensing container.
  • Preferably the variable width means to secure the dispensing container to the surface on which it is standing comprises at least one wing located towards the bottom of the dispensing container.
  • Preferably the variable width means to secure the dispensing container to the surface on which it is standing comprises at least one wing located towards the bottom of the dispensing container which may retract into the dispensing container.
  • Preferably the dispensing container may have two or more variable width means to secure the dispensing container to the surface on which it is standing.
  • Preferably the dispensing container maybe of the ‘soft-pack’ variety and may feature hermetically sealed edges which are extended enough in size so as to enable the user to kneel on them. It is preferable to enable the user to tidily wrap these sealed edges around the outside of the ‘soft-pack’ dispensing container when the user is not dispensing wipes from the container. Therefore preferably these sealed edges have a temporary fixing means to enable the length of the extended sealed edges to be releasibly attached to the outside of the dispensing container. This temporary fixing means could be Velcro or some other temporary attachment means.
  • Embodiments of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
  • FIG. 1 shows a dispensing container in the form of a container of wipes with protrusions located at the bottom of the dispensing container onto which a user can kneel.
  • FIG. 2 shows a dispensing container in the form of a container of wipes with indented areas to enable the knees to secure the dispensing container to the surface on which the user is kneeling.
  • FIG. 3 shows a dispensing container in the form of a container of wipes with two wings located at the bottom of the dispensing container onto which a user can kneel.
  • FIG. 4 shows a dispensing container in the form of a container of wipes with indented areas and protrusions to enable the user to secure the dispensing container to the surface on which the user is kneeling using the side of the knees.
  • FIG. 5 shows a dispensing container in the form of a ‘soft-pack’ with hermetically sealed ends which are extended enabling the user to kneel on those extended ends.
  • Referring to FIG. 1 there is shown a dispensing container 1 with a dispensing aperture 2 at one first end 2A of the container to dispense product. A surface contact means 2C is provided at a second end 2B of the container opposing the first end 2A. Variable width means in the form of protrusions 11A, 11B located at the second end 2B are provided onto which the user will kneel thereby keeping the dispensing container secure as wipes 3 are withdrawn enabling wipes to be extracted with just one hand, leaving the other free to enable the user to maintain contact with the baby.
  • Referring to FIG. 2 there is shown a dispensing container 1 with variable width means in the form of indents 22A, 22B which enable the user to use the knees in order to keep the dispensing container secure as wipes 3 are withdrawn.
  • Referring to FIG. 3 there is shown a dispensing container 1 with variable width means in the form of wings 32A, 32B onto which the user will kneel thereby keeping the dispensing container secure as wipes 3 are withdrawn.
  • Referring to FIG. 4 there is shown a dispensing container 1 with variable width means in the form of indents 42A, 42B and protrusions 42C, 42D to provide the user with a secure means by which to secure the dispensing container to the surface using the side if the knees.
  • Referring to FIG. 5 there is shown a dispensing container 1 which is in the form of the ‘soft-pack’ variety with variable width means in the form of extended sealed edges 52A, 52B onto which the user will kneel thereby keeping the dispensing container secure as wipes 3 are withdrawn.
  • It is envisaged that in some instances, a user would purchase a dispensing container for wipes, and refill it with packs of wipes as required.
  • Further modifications will be apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention.
