Abstract

A bed-making system and method of deploying that system. The system includes a number of inserts which are fitted between a mattress and a box spring. A clamp is connected to each insert via an anchor ring. The clamp is used to clamp together onto bedding which can then quickly and easily be placed onto the mattress to re-make the bed.

Description

    CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
  • This application claims priority in U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 61/857,342 filed Jul. 23, 2013, which is incorporated herein by reference.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates generally to a bed making apparatus and method of use and more specifically to an apparatus for use when making a typical sleeping bed
  • 2. Description of the Related Art
  • Many industries require multiple beds to be made in a day, such as hotels, medical facilities and institutions, multi-person residencies, and the like. Presently, each bed must be remade by hand every day. What is needed is a device which can quickly and easily help facilitate the making of a bed while reducing labor.
  • Heretofore there has not been a bed making device or method thereof with the features and elements of the present invention.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • A plastic sheet with a number of hard nodes is slipped between a mattress and set of box springs. A connecting ring is connected through the plastic sheet. A cam-activated-clamp is connected to the ring. The clamp secures bedding which has been placed on the bed and is pulled taught. Once this arrangement has been set up, the bed can quickly and easily be re-made by a single person in a matter of seconds. In order to change the bedding and sheets, the clamp is loosened and new bedding is placed on the bed.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The drawings constitute a part of this specification and include exemplary embodiments of the present invention illustrating various objects and features thereof.
  • FIG. 1 is an isometric view of a preferred embodiment of the present invention in the presence of a typical environment.
  • FIG. 2 is a second isometric view thereof, showing the use of the present invention in a completed bedding situation.
  • FIG. 3 is a top-plan view of a preferred embodiment of the present invention.
  • FIG. 4 is a detailed plan view thereof, as taken about the circle in FIG. 3.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS I. Introduction and Environment
  • As required, detailed aspects of the present invention are disclosed herein; however, it is to be understood that the disclosed aspects are merely exemplary of the invention, which may be embodied in various forms. Therefore, specific structural and functional details disclosed herein are not to be interpreted as limiting, but merely as a basis for the claims and as a representative basis for teaching one skilled in the art how to variously employ the present invention in virtually any appropriately detailed structure.
  • Certain terminology will be used in the following description for convenience in reference only and will not be limiting. For example, up, down, front, back, right and left refer to the invention as oriented in the view being referred to. The words “inwardly” and “outwardly” refer to directions toward and away from, respectively, the geometric center of the embodiment being described and designated parts thereof. Forwardly and rearwardly are generally in relation to the fore-end (barrel) and the back end (grip), respectively. Said terminology will include the words specifically mentioned, derivatives thereof and words of similar meaning.
  • I. Bed Making System 2
  • Referring to the figures in more detail, FIG. 1 shows a bed which includes both a mattress 5 and a box spring 4. The bed making system 2 employs at least two inserts 6 which are inserted between the mattress 5 and the box spring 4. An anchor ring 10 is affixed to each insert and a clamp 8 is connected to the anchor ring. Each insert 6 includes a number of hard, plastic nodes 16 which provide a gripping surface to the insert. The inserts grip onto the material of the box spring 4 and/or the mattress 5, preventing the inserts from being inadvertently removed from between the mattress and the box spring.
  • As shown in FIG. 2, bedding 7, such as sheets and covers, are secured to the clamps 8 and then pulled taught to cover the mattress. The inserts 6 prevent the covers from being pulled away from their respective corners, and thus allows the bed to be quickly re-made by a single person.
  • FIG. 3 shows how the inserts 6 are placed above the box spring 4. The detailed view shown in FIG. 4, which is taken about the circle of FIG. 3, provides additional detail. The insert 6 includes a plurality of hard nodes 16, a rough surface, or other sufficient element for gripping against the material of the box spring 4 or the mattress 5.
  • The clamp 8 is connected to the insert 6 via the anchor ring 10. The clamp includes a cam lever 14 which adjusts the clamp open and closed, and a pair of cushioned clamp-ends 12, which grip the bedding 7.
  • As shown in the figures, the typical method of using the bed making system 2 is to insert a pair of the inserts 6 between a mattress 5 and a box spring 4. The nodes 16 grip the material of the mattress and/or the box spring. A clamp 8 is affixed to each insert 6 via an anchor ring 10. Bedding 7 is then clamped into the clamp and is placed over the mattress. This allows for quick and easy re-making of the bed each day.
  • It is to be understood that the invention can be embodied in various forms, and is not to be limited to the examples discussed above. The range of components and configurations which can be utilized in the practice of the present invention is virtually unlimited.
