Abstract

The present invention provides for a sport shorts comprising: a waistband having top and bottom sides, the top side having an opening for receiving a user's waist, and the bottom side leading to at least two extendable portions ending in at least two opening, and the openings are designed to receive the user's thighs, the extendable portions forming an interior surface and an exterior surface, the extendable portion comprising front and rear sides, the extendable portion forming a crotch portion situated in between said two openings; at least one gusset extending from the waistband on the rear side of the extendable portion through the crotch portion.

Description

    RELATED APPLICATION
  • This application is related to U.S. Provisional Patent Application Ser. No. 62/071,023 filed on Sep. 12, 2014 entitled “Sports Shorts”.
    • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • This invention relates to a sports short and more specifically, to athletic shorts designed for kicking sports and martial arts such as taekwondo, kickboxing, muay tai, etc.
  • 2. Description of the Related Art
  • There are various patents covering athletic shorts but most do not address kicking movements made by athletes and martial artists.
    • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • In one embodiment, the present invention provides for a sport shorts comprising: a waistband having top and bottom sides, the top side having an opening for receiving a user's waist, and the bottom side leading to at least two extendable portions ending in at least two opening, and the openings are designed to receive the user's thighs, the extendable portions forming an interior surface and an exterior surface, the extendable portion comprising front and rear sides, the extendable portion forming a crotch portion situated in between said two openings; at least one gusset extending from the waistband on the rear side of the extendable portion through the crotch portion; and at least three pockets situated on the interior surface of the extendable portions, at least two of the pockets designed to receive padding, and at least one pocket designed to receive a cup.
  • In another embodiment, the gusset is constructed of stretchable material. In yet another embodiment, the extended portions are constructed of stretchable material, the percentage of the stretchable material on the gusset is greater than the percentage of the stretchable material on the extendable portions.
  • In still another embodiment, the shorts further comprises padding, and the two pockets designed to receive the padding is situated on the extended portion at a location adjacent to the user's thighs.
  • In still yet another embodiment, the shorts further comprises a cup, and the pocket designed to receive the cup and is situated adjacent to the crotch portion.
  • In a further embodiment, the gusset extends from the waistband on the rear side of the extended portions to the waistband on the front side of extended portion and covers the crotch portion. In yet a further embodiment, the gusset extends to cover a portion of the area adjacent to the opening of the extendable portion to cover at least a portion of the user's thighs.
  • In yet a further embodiment, the shorts further comprises a securing device for closing an opening of each of the pockets to the interior surface of the extendable portions. In still a further embodiment, the shorts further comprises at least one removable loop for receiving a belt.
  • In another embodiment, the present invention relates to a sport shorts comprising: a waistband having top and bottom sides, the top side having an opening for receiving a user's waist, the bottom side leading to at least two extendable portions ending in at least two opening, and the openings are designed to receive the user's thighs, the extendable portions forming an interior surface and an exterior surface, the extendable portion comprises front and rear sides, the extendable portion forming a crotch portion situated in between the two openings; and at least one stretchable portion extending from the waistband at the rear side of the extendable portion and covering the crotch portion, the stretchable portion is designed to stretch when the user is making a kicking motion.
  • In a further embodiment, the stretchable portion extends from the waistband at rear side of the extendable portion to the waistband at the front side of the extendable portion.
  • In another further embodiment, the stretchable portion covers extends to cover a portion of the area adjacent to the opening of the extendable portion to cover at least a portion of the user's thighs.
  • In yet another further embodiment, the shorts further comprises at least three pockets situated on the interior surface of the extendable portions. In still another further embodiment, the shorts further comprises a securing device for closing an opening of each of the pockets to the interior surface of the extendable portions.
  • In another embodiment, at least two of the pockets designed to receive padding, and at least one pocket designed to receive a cup. In a further embodiment, the shorts further comprises at least one removable loop for receiving a belt. In another further embodiment, the securing device is selected from a group comprising buttons, snap, Velcro, zippers, etc.

  • FIG. 2 is a rear perspective view of FIG. 1 showing the gusset;
  • FIG. 3 is overhead view of FIG. 2 showing the pockets, the padding and the cup; and
  • FIG. 4 is a front perspective view of another embodiment of the shorts showing a belt and the removable belt loops.

  • Among those benefits and improvements that have been disclosed, other objects and advantages of this invention will become apparent from the following description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. The drawings constitute a part of this specification and include exemplary embodiments of the present invention and illustrate various objects and features thereof.
    • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • As required, detailed embodiments of the present invention are disclosed herein; however, it is to be understood that the disclosed embodiments are merely exemplary of the invention that may be embodied in various forms. The figures are not necessarily to scale, some features may be exaggerated to show details of particular components. Therefore, specific structural and functional details disclosed herein are not to be interpreted as limiting, but merely as a basis for the claims and as a representative basis for teaching one skilled in the art to variously employ the present invention.
  • FIGS. 1-2 show a sport shorts 1 comprising: a waistband 2 having top and bottom sides, the top side having an opening 2 a for receiving a user's waist, the bottom side leading to at least two extendable portions, 3 a and 3 b respectively, ending in at least two openings, 4 a and 4 b respectively, and the openings are designed to receive the user's thighs, the extendable portions forming an interior surface and an exterior surface, the extendable portion comprises front 6 and rear 7 sides, the extendable portions, 3 a and 3 b, forming a crotch portion 11 situated in between the two openings, 4 a and 4 b; and at least one stretchable portion 4 extending from the waistband 2 at the rear side 7 of the extendable portions and covering the crotch portion 11, the stretchable portion 5 is designed to stretch when the user is making a kicking motion.
  • FIG. 3 depicts the shorts 1 further comprises at least three pockets 8, 9 a and 9 b, situated on the interior surface of the extendable portions, 3 a and 3 b. The shorts 1 further comprises a securing device 44 for closing an opening of each of the pockets, 8, 9 a and 9 b, to the interior surface of the extendable portions, 3 a and 3 b. At least two of the pockets, 9 a and 9 b, are designed to receive padding 99, and at least one pocket 8 designed to receive a cup 8.
  • FIG. 4 shows the kicking or taekwondo shorts 1 comprising: a waistband 2 having top and bottom sides, the top side having an opening 2 a for receiving a user's waist, and the bottom side leading to at least two extendable portions, 3 a and 3 b, ending in at least two opening, 4 a and 4 b, and the openings, 4 a and 4 b, are designed to receive the user's thighs, the extendable portions, 3 a and 3 b, forming an interior surface and an exterior surface, the extendable portions, 3 a and 3 b, comprising front 6 and rear 7 sides, the extendable portions, 3 a and 3 b, forming a crotch portion 11 situated in between said two openings, 4 a and 4 b; and at least one gusset 55 extending from the waistband 2 on the rear side of the extendable portions, 3 a and 3 b, through the crotch portion 11.
  • Numerous modifications and variations of the present invention are possible in light of the above teachings. It is therefore to be understood that within the scope of the attendant claims attached hereto, this invention may be practiced otherwise than as specifically disclosed herein.

Claims (16)

What is claimed is:
1. A sport shorts comprising:
a waistband having top and bottom sides, said top side having an opening for receiving a user's waist, said bottom side leading to at least two extendable portions ending in at least two opening, said openings are designed to receive the user's thighs, said extendable portions forming an interior surface and an exterior surface, said extendable portion comprising front and rear sides, said extendable portions forming a crotch portion situated in between said two openings;
at least one gusset extending from said waistband on said rear side of said extendable portion through said crotch portion; and
at least three pockets situated on said interior surface of said extendable portions, at least two of said pockets designed to receive padding, and at least one pocket designed to receive a cup.
2. The shorts of claim 1 wherein said gusset is constructed of stretchable material.
3. The shorts of claim 2 wherein said extended portions are constructed of stretchable material, the percentage of the stretchable material on said gusset is greater than the percentage of the stretchable material on said extendable portions.
4. The shorts of claim 1 further comprising padding, said two pockets designed to receive said padding is situated on said extended portion at a location adjacent to the user's thighs.
5. The shorts of claim 1 further comprising a cup, said pocket designed to receive said cup is situated adjacent to said crotch portion.
6. The shorts of claim 1 wherein said gusset extends from said waistband on said rear side of said extended portions to said waistband on said front side of extended portion and covers said crotch portion.
7. The shorts of claim 1 wherein said gusset extends to cover a portion of the area adjacent to said opening of said extendable portion to cover at least a portion of the user's thighs.
8. The shorts of claim 1 further comprising a securing device for closing an opening of each of said pockets to said interior surface of said extendable portions.
9. The shorts of claim 1 further comprising at least one removable loop for receiving a belt.
10. A sport shorts comprising:
a waistband having top and bottom sides, said top side having an opening for receiving a user's waist, said bottom side leading to at least two extendable portions ending in at least two opening, said openings are designed to receive the user's thighs, said extendable portions forming an interior surface and an exterior surface, said extendable portion comprising front and rear sides, said extendable portions forming a crotch portion situated in between said two openings; and
at least one stretchable portion extending from said waistband at said rear side of said extendable portion and covering said crotch portion, said stretchable portion is designed to stretch when the user is making a kicking motion.
11. The shorts of claim 10 wherein said stretchable portion extends from said waistband at rear side of said extendable portion to said waistband at said front side of said extendable portion.
12. The shorts of claim 11 wherein said stretchable portion covers extends to cover a portion of the area adjacent to said opening of said extendable portion to cover at least a portion of the user's thighs.
13. The shorts of claim 11 further comprising at least three pockets situated on said interior surface of said extendable portions.
14. The shorts of claim 13 further comprising a securing device for closing an opening of each of said pockets to said interior surface of said extendable portions.
15. The shorts of claim 13 wherein at least two of said pockets designed to receive padding, and at least one pocket designed to receive a cup.
16. The shorts of claim 1 further comprising at least one removable loop for receiving a belt.
