Claims. (Cl. 312-1125) The invention relates to devices such as small brackets and the like which are adapted for the support of tooth brushes, paste tubes, powder cans, etc., and which are generally arranged for mounting on the usual bathroom wall at the convenience of the user.

An object of the invention is to provide a holder of the character described which will shield the brushes supported tliereon against dust and the like and will at the same time provide a circulation of air over the brushes to insure a'sanitary drying thereof. Another object of the invention is to provide a plurality of individual hoods or compartments for the'brush heads and to afford in cooperating relation with the compartments an improved brush and tube support for facilitating the introduction and removal of the brush to and from the holder.

A further object of the invention is to provide a holder of the character described which will beespecially compact in its arrangement and yet not over-crowd the members carried thereby or interfere with the latters free movement to and from an attached position.

The'invention possesses other objects and features of advantage, some of which, with the foregoing; ,will be set forth in the following description of the preferred form of the invention which is illustrated in the drawing accompanying and forming part of the specification. It is to be understood, however, that variations in the showing madeby the said drawing and description maybe adopted within the scope of the invention as set forth in the claims.

With reference to the drawing the holder I l of my invention comprises a supporting member ATENT OFFICE 12 which is formed with a substantially flat supporting portion l3 arranged at the rear side l4 thereof for mounting against a supporting surface such as the room Wall l5. is a hood portion I8 which defines with the surface ll an inverted covered receptacle for the brushes 19. In the present embodiment the 10 holder is adapted to support two brushes and in accordance with this number, the hood and surface ll are preferably interconnected with a partition 2i serving to divide the aforesaid receptacle into a pair of individual compartments 22 15 for the brush heads 23.

Support of the brushes is here arranged with the. head portions 23 extended into the compart'ments 22 and with the brush handles 24 depending from the compartments in covering relation to the forward surface I! of the main holder member. As a convenient feature of the holder, the brush'handles may be extended below the lower end 26 of the surface ll to thereby space the handles from the room wall for ready grasp- 25 ing. Means for so mounting the brushes here include a pair of spring clip members 21 which are afilxed to the surface i1 centrally of the compartments and are arranged for the receipt and resilient gripping'of the brush handles. As 30 an important feature of this arrangement the clip members are disposed below the lower edge 28 of the hood so as to afford visibility thereof to the user and thereby facilitate the correct positioning and attachment of the brushes.

In addition to the useof the holder for supporting the brushes, I provide for the convenient attachment of a paste tube 29 or the like to the holder so as to afford in a single, handy unit the requisites for brushing ones teeth. While thus making the holder more complete in its purpose, I have nevertheless arranged for the support of the paste tube in a manner not interfering with the entering or removing of the brushes, or enlarging the overall size of the holder over that required for accommodating the two brushes alone. This arrangement is here effected by mounting the paste tube directly in line with and longitudinally under the partition 2! so that the tube will be positioned intermediate and generally parallel to the brush handles. Since the compartments are considerably wider than the brush heads to afford circulation of air about the brush heads, it will be clear that the relatively narrow brush handles will be normally spaced sufficiently apart to permit the positioning therebetween of a paste tube or powder can or the like. The supporting means for the paste tube here comprises a spring clip 3| which is adapted to clasp the neck or cap portion of the tube and is mounted on the surface I! intermediate the clip members 2'! and well below the lower edge of the hood. As will be clear from Figure 5, and as a further feature of this arrangement, the lateral spacing of the hood from the rear body portion of the holder is suchas to completely overlie the top of the paste tube to thereby shield the latter against gravitating dust particles or the like in the air. To facilitate the insertion and withdrawal of the brush handlesin and from the clips 21, in view of the closeness'of the paste tube mounting, the clips 21 may as here shown be formed to open angularly outward from the surface IT and from the tube.

Means of ventilation are also provided in the hood for insuring a circulation of air through and about the brush heads. As here shown the opposite ends 32 and 33* of the hood'are provided adjacent the top of the brush compartments with openings 34 which serve, together with the open bottom of the hood, to promote a constant fiow of fresh air through the compartments. The openings 34 are preferably sloped outwardly and downwardly from the compartments so as to prevent the gravitation of dust particles therethrough and into the compartments.

Attachment of the holder to wall l5 may be effected a here shown by providing in the rear surface M of the holder a dove-tailed recess 36 -which is arranged for detachable, interfitting connection with a flanged bracket 31 fixedly supported on the wall.

A modified form of the invention is shown in Figures 4 to 6 wherein thebrushes and paste tubeare supported by an auxiliary band member 38 and no permanent attachment of either brush clips or wall fastening means need be made to .the main body portionof the holder; As here shown the member 38 is mounted about the holder portion I3 for relative longitudinal movement thereto and is provided with a pair of depressed screw receivingportions 39 in the rear side 4i thereof for attaching the band mem: ber to the wall I5. Preferably the rear portion M of the holder member is provided adjacent the upper end l6 thereof with a rearwardly extending boss ll) for engaging the wall l5 and serving, together with depressed portions 39, to maintain the" holder portion l3 spaced from the wall. Arranged at the forward side 42 of the band member 38 is a set of brush and tube supporting clips 21 and 3| which may, in the instance where the band may be of spring metal, be formed as here shown as anintegral part of the band. Thus in this form of the invention the support of the holder and of the brushes and tube is provided entirely by the band 38 and independent of the hood. As a result, the hood may be raised from a normally seated position with the end walls 32 and 33 thereof resting on the forward side 42 of the band to a detached position for permitting ready cleaning thereof and maintenance of the various parts in sanitary condition. I claim: 5

1. In a device of the character described, a backing member, a hood depending from the upper portion of said member and defining there with an inverted receptacle, a partition extending between said member and hood dividing said receptacle into individual compartments, means for supporting tooth brushes with the head por- .tions thereof extended into said compartments, and means for mounting a tooth paste tube or the like directlyunder and aligned with said partition.

2. In a device of the character described, a body member defininga chamber and having a partition dividing said chamber into. individual compartments, means for supporting tooth 20 brushes with the head portions thereof positioned in said compartments and with the handle portions thereof extending from said compartments with said handle portions in spaced relation, and

means for mounting a toothpaste tube or the like centrally under and in alignment'with said partition and between said brush handles. 7

3. In a device of the character described, a body member defining a chamber and having a partition dividing said chamber into individual compartments, means for V supporting tooth brushes with the head portions thereof 'posi,-' tioned in said compartments and'with the handle portions thereof extending from saidcompartments with said handle portions in spaced relation, and means for mounting'a tooth paste tube 'or the like centrally under and in alignment with said partition and between said brush handles, said first named means comprising members each providing a receiving opening for engaging and holding 'a brush handle and providing for the entrance of ahandle thereto sidewise and in the direction of said second named means.

In a device of the character described, a body 7 member, a hood therefor, a partition connecting said member and hood. defining a pair'of individual compartments and being terminated within the openend of the hood, means for supporting tooth brushes with the head portions thereof extended into said compartments, and means formounting a tooth paste tube or'the like adjacent and longitudinally aligned with said partition and spaced from the open end of but covered by said hood. 7

5. Ina device of the character described, a body member, a hoodtherefor, a bandembracing said member and arranged for attachment to a wall, and means carried by said' band for'supporting a tooth brush under said hood, said body member and hood being slidable relative tosaid bandto permit movement thereof to covering 01 uncovering relation with respect to said tooth brush.
