The present invention relates to an improved fender signal arrow and parking lamp housing one adapted for each fender of a motor vehicle and the purpose of the invention is to provide an article of manufacture of this kind, which will give direction of the vehicle from the front or from the side, said casingincluding two compartments one for a parking light bulb'and the other for a direction indicating bulb, the side and front wall of thecasing having arrows for indicating a turn, in the presentinstanc-e the arrows indicate a left turn.

Another purpose is to provide, in a device of this kind a bullet-shaped casing provided with an a elongated footed pedestal for mounting the casing on the fender, there being means passing through the wall of the casing and through the pedestal for fastening the parts together and on the fender.

Another purpose is to provide in a device of this kind, an improved one piece partition, which divides the interior-of the casing, at a point above the arrow openings into two compartments, the lower. compartment for the bulb for reflecting the light rays through the arrows openings, an upper compartment for the reception of a bulb for reflecting light rays through a parking light opening, the bulb for the arrow openings being extinguished when the bulb for the parking light opening is lighted.

Another purpose is to provide a one piece partition comprising a horizontal portion at the front of the lamp casing merging into a vertical part to divide off an upper compartment for the reception of a bulb with a transparent covered opening in front as a parking lamp, said vertical portion merging into an inclined portion and a second vertical portion, dividing the interior of the casing into a second compartment containing a lamp bulb for illumination through transparent covered direction arrows, said second vertical portion merging into an extension in conformity to the interior rear curvature of the casing, to receive the securing means between the casing and the elongated footed pedestal, to assist in holding the partition in place, it being observed that the lamp bulbs are mounted in sockets carried by both vertical portions of the one piece partition.

It is to be understood that the particulars herein given are in no way limitative, and that while still keeping within the scope of the invention, any desired modification of details and proportions may be made in the construction of the appliance according to circumstances.

foot being such'as will conform to the curvature 1 5 of a fender. This footed pedestal merges into 'a contracted neck2, which in turn swells into a supporting base 3, for the support of the "fender signal arrow and parking lamp casing.

This'casing 4 is bullet-shaped, and the curvature of its-wall conforms to the curvature of the supporting base 3 of the pedestal. An opening 5 is formed through the pedestal and-it regis- 'ters with'an opening 5a-inthe wall of the casing 4, for the reception of suitable leads or wires from the bulbs 6. Suitable screws 1 pass through the wall of the casing and through the pedestal and also through the fender 8 and receive nuts 9 on their lower ends, thereby holding the parts together and mounted upon the fender. The casing receives a flanged cover I0, which is provided with an arrow opening II, which in the present instance indicates a left turn. The cover is secured in position by means of screws l2 and is provided with a second opening I3 of an elongated curved formation above the arrow, for the reflection of light rays for parking purposes. One side of the casing is formed with an arrow opening similar to that in the cover and is designed to likewise indicate a left turn. This arrow opening M in the side of the casing is for the purpose of permitting the direction to be indicated from the side while the arrow in the cover indicates the direction from the front.

Arranged in the interior of the casing is a partition l5, which divides the interior of the casing into two compartments I6 and H, the former being incident to the elongated curved opening in the cover, the latter being incident to the two arrow openings. This partition l5 has a socket I8 for a bulb 6 for illuminating the compartment IS.

The single piece partition comprises a horizontal transverse portion l9, which at the rear merges into a vertical part 20. These parts l9 and 20 are in conformity to the circular contour of the lamp casing. The vertical part 20 merges into an inclined portion 2|, which in turn merges into a second vertical portion 22, which has a socket 23 for the lamp bulb 6. As will be noted the two lamp bulbs 6 and 6a are carried by the first and second vertical portions of the partition, while the wires or leads 24 and 25 are connected to suitable contacts 26 on the rear faces of the first and second vertical portions. These wires or leads pass through the opening formed through the pedestal and are adapted to lie under the surface of the fender, in any conventional way. The forward opposite corners of the transverse horizontal portion 19 of the partition are provided with corner pieces or brackets 26, certain portions 2? of which are electrically welded to the interior surface of the casing, while the portions 28 receive the screws l2, which pass through the cover It! for holding the cover in place.

The invention having been set forth, what is claimed is:

l. A fender lamp, comprising a lamp housing, a pedestal on a fender for the housing, a one piece partition within the housing, said partition comprising a vertical portion having a curved extension at its lower part engaged with the rear and bottom portion of the interior of the housing, said vertical portion having an upwardly inclined part extending into a second downwardly extending vertical portion, said second downwardly extending vertical portion extending into a horizontal wall provided with corner supports secured to the wall of the housing, said partition dividing the interior of the housing into three compartments, two of which contain light bulbs supported on the partition, and means passing through the extension,'the rear bottom wall of the housing and through the pedestal and the fender for securing said members together.

2. In a turn signal device for vehicles, a casing having a. front circular cover and a lens between the cover and the circular edge of the casing at the front, a plate having a portion engaging a wall of the casing and another portion extending inwardly from said wall and conforming to the shape of the casing engaging the latter and forming a rattle preventing support for a lamp socket, the inwardly extending portion of the plate having a lamp socket, said plate having a vertical part extending from said first named wall engaging portion and provided with a second lamp socket, said plate also including a horizontal broad portion connected to the lower part of the vertical part and conforming to the sides of the casing, the forward corners of this horizontal broad portion of the plate having lugs at right angles to each other, and securing means passing through the lugs at two points, one of said securing means fastening the lugs to the front cover and the lens, the other securing means connecting the lugs to the opposite sides of the casing, thereby providing a rigid structure.

In a turn signal device for vehicles, 2, casing, a plate within the casing, having a portion engaging a wall of the casing and another portion extending inwardly from said wall and conforming circumferentially to the shape of the casing engaging the latter, said other portion constituting a rattle-preventing support for a lamp socket, a lamp socket supported by said inwardly extending portion, a casing support having means engaging said wall of the casing at the exterior thereof in substantial alignment with the casing and a wall engaging portion of said plate, securing means fastened through said support and casing and connecting the same together, and also supporting said wall engaging portion, means on the other end of said support for attaching same to a. vehicle, said support and casing being provided with alined openings for the passage of conductors for the lamp socket.
