1 Claim.
This invention relates to safety razors, and its general object is to provide a razor of that character, which is capable of eillciently performing its intended function from one to several times and is then discarded in its entirety as the blade is fixed and cannot be. changed or removed for sharpening or other purposes, with the result the razor is not only advantageous from a sanitary standpoint but danger of cutting oneself which frequently happens when changing a blade in safety razors now in general use, is entirely elim-.
inated, and that safety factor is also present, in the event children should play with a razor constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Another object of the invention is to provide a safety razor that cannot be efliciently used as a dangerous'weapon, by a person attempting to do himself or others bodily harm.
Another object of the invention is to provide a safety razor that is simple in construction, and is made from some very inexpensive material, so that it can be discarded and replaced by a new one from time to time with minimum expense. This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and specifically pointed out in the appended claim. In describing our invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which: 5 Figure 1 is a perspective view of the razor con- :tructed in accordance with the present inven- Figure 2 is a side view thereof. Figure 3 is a sectional view taken approximate- 1y on line 3-3 of Figure 2.
Referring to the drawing in detail, it will be noted that the guard plate i, body 2 and handle 3 are integrally connected and may be made from a single piece of material, but in any event the material is very inexpensive.
The handle is preferably rectangular in cross section and merges at its upper end into the body which as shown is of substantially triangu- 50 lar configuration. From its juncture with the handle, the body is tapered on its inner face,
to present a relatively thin upper portion 4 having straight ends merging into the inclined side edges of the body, as clearly shown in Figure 1.
The upper portion 4 has formed therewith the guard plate I which as shown extends at a downward inclination or angle with respect to the body, and the free edge is notched to provide teeth 5 which are long and relatively wide and are provided with rounded free ends as shown.
The cap 6 is co-extensive with the length of the guard plate I, but as shown is relatively narrow with a rounded upper surface and a flat lower surface, the latter being disposed in engagement with the blade I and the cap holds the cutting edge of the blade in cooperation with the teeth 5, by the use of rivets or the like 8' that extends through the cap, the blade and the guard plate, consequently the blade is fixed and cannot be removed to be replaced and sharpened as is customary with safety razors now in general use. From the above description and disclosure of the drawing, it will be obvious that we have provided a safety razor that is capable of perform- I ing its intended function from one to several times and then may be discarded to be replaced by a new one, and a razor of this character affords many advantages, some of which have been previously set forth.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of our invention will be readily apparent. We desire it to be understood that we may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall' within the scope of the appended claim.
What we claim is:
A safety razor comprising a handle of cross sectional rectangular configuration, a substan-- tially triangular body formed on the handle and r rising therefrom, a guard plate formed on the upper end of the body and extending at a downward inclination with'respect thereto, teeth included in the guard plate, a cap co-extensive with the length of the guard plate, a blade between the cap and guard plate, and rivets extending through the cap, blade and guard plate for permanently securing the same together and fixing the blade relative to the teeth of the guard plate for cooperative association therewith; JOSEPH MASIP.
