, This invention relates to dispensing cartons, an

object of the invention being to provide a carton for containing interfolded sheets which can be I readily and conveniently withdrawn from the 5 carton one at a time.

An object of the invention is to proyide a carton containing interfolded sheets, such as waxed paper sheets, which may be withdrawn one at a time from the carton while the remaining sheets will be retained in the carton and protected from dirt and dust.

Another object of the invention is to provide a tear-out strip for the carton having a tab for facilitating its removal.

A further object of the invention is to provide the first upper sheet within the carton with a grasping portion aligned beneath the tear-out strip for facilitating the removal of the first sheet from the carton.

Another object of the invention is to provide an inserted information strip in the first upper sheet to facilitate withdrawal of the sheet from the container.

With these and other objects in view, the in- 6 vention consists in certain novel features of con- 2 struction and combinations, and arrangements of parts, which will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.

Figure 6 is a plan of the blank scored to form the carton illustrated in Figure 1. 7 Referring to the drawings, the dispensing carton includes a paper board carton formed of a blank as shown in Figure 6. The blank is scored 50 along lines I, 2, 3, and 4 so as to form wide wall portions l0 and I2, narrow wall portions II and n l3, and fiapl4. Score lines 5, 6, and'8 and cut lines I provide narrow end walls i6, and flaps l5 and l1.

7 One of the wide walls, preferably wall l2 which carries the flaps, is provided preferably with spaced lines of perforated lines i0, i9, 20 and 2| so as to form anarrow rectangular tear-out strip 24 located in the medial portion of the wall H. The tear-out strip may be delineated, if desired, by score lines or by printed lines which can be used as guides for cutting out the strip 24.

A semi-circular out line 22 is provided at one end of the strip 24 terminating near the ends of line 21 so as to form a depressible tab 23. If desired, line 22 may be perforated instead of severed. Obviously any other suitable configuration may be given to the tab 23 for the purpose 7 of this invention.

In forming the package a stack of interfolded sheets is placed in proper position onthe wide wall I2 of the blank. End walls It are folded up on lines 5 and the flaps ii are then folded over on lines 6 so as to overlie the ends of the sheets. Flaps II are then folded on lines 8 to contact the sheets. The narrow wall I3 is then folded up on line 3 and the flap 4 folded on line 4 to enclose longitudinal margin of the sheets. Narrow wall II is then folded up on line 2. Glue is then applied to the folded-flaps l4 and IS. Wall I0 forming the bottom of the carton is then folded on line I and pressed on the glued flaps l4 and I! to seal the carton.

Interfolded sheets of waxed paper can be advantageously packaged in this carton. The individual sheets are folded longitudinally into two equal leaves, each leaf having its dimensions substantially the same as the dimensions of the wide face ii of the carton, and they are then interfolded as shown in Figure 5.

In order to facilitate withdrawal of the first sheet A within the package, one portion of a sheet is folded back as shown in Figure 3 so as to form a pocket portion B having a folded edge C which will align with the slot or opening in the carton when the tear-out strip 24 is removed as shown in Figures 2 and 3. An indmendent stiff sheet or card 30 is placed within the fold or pocket portion preferably in middle portion of the fold, or pocket, and-thecard may have printed instructions thereonwhich can be read through the folded sheet when: using transparent or translucent sheets.

The folded pocket portion B of the uppermost sheet thus forms a grasping portion which can be seized preferably in the region of the inserted card by the thumb and forefinger as shown in Figure 3. The card being of stiff material facilitates grasping of the first sheet, particularly when thin sheets are packaged.

The upper sheet may be folded in other ways I claim: if desired to form a grasping portion. For ex- 1. A dispensing carton having an elongated ample, the portion B may be folded inwardly in a position reverse to that shown in Figure 3 along the same fold line C and the instruction sheet 30 placed inside such fold.

The interfolded sheets are so positioned that when the carton is opened by removing tear-out strip 24 the first sheet A carrying the information card will be the top sheet in the carton. After the first sheet A is removed the next sheet D will assume the portions illustrated in Figure 4 with one of the leaves extending through the slot in the carton. This sheet can thus be readily grasped and removed from the carton. The interfolded leaf of the next sheet will then extend through the slot in the opposite direction. Each of the succeeding sheets will similarly present a grasping portion enabling the sheet to be readily removed from the carton;

It is obvious that thedispensing carton provides a dirt and dust proof package and protects the contained sheets from contamination and soiling.

In order to facilitate opening the carton a tab 23 is provided at one end of the tear-out strip 24. When the tab 23 is depressed the strip 24 can be readily grasped and torn out or out along lines l8, l9,2il,and2l.

It is obvious that many'changes and modifications may be made in the arrangement of the sheets in the box, as wellas in the construction of the carton, without departing from the "spirit of the invention, the scope of which should therefore be determined by reference to the following claims, the same being construed as broadly as can be consistent with the prior art.

A dispensing carton having a side wall and an end wall, an elongated tear-out strip defined by parallel tear lines in said side wall, and containing a stack of waxed paper interfolded sheets, each sheet being folded approximately in half to form two leaves, each leaf having dimensions approximately equal to those of the side wall, the uppermost sheet in said stack having a folded pocket portion formed by folding back the upper leaf, the edge of said pocket portion being aligned beneath said tear-out strip, said edge being posi-l tioned a substantial distance from either of said tear lines and therebetween to afford a grasping portion for withdrawal of said sheet from the carton, a stifi information sheet carried in said pocket portion, an edge of said stiff sheet being in close proximity to the said edge of said pocket portion to afford a firm grasping portion for the uppermost sheet to facilitate withdrawal of said sheet from the carton,
