REFLECTOR ATTACHMENT FOR SHOES Filed June 28, 1939 INVENTOR ATTORNEYS Patented Mar. 4, 1941 UNITED STATES 1 PATENT OFFICE REFLECTOR. ATTACHMENT FOB, snons Ruth R. McKinley,- Miami, Fla.
Application June 28, 1939, Serial No. 281,726 1 claim. (o1. ss .-so
The object of the invention is to provide a reflector attachment for shoes applicable on top of a shoe or is equally readily removable therefrom}. so that it may be carried in a pocket of the owner when not in use.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device of the kind indicated whichis of simple construction and susceptible of cheap ture. Other objects manufacand advantages of the: invention appear in the following description when read in connection with the accompanying drawing, in
which: I
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the leg'and foot of a user showing the invention applied in operative position.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of "the invention unattached.
Figure 3 is a rear view of the construction of Figure 1..
The harness for the reflector consists of the elastic bands I and 2 of which the .iformeris adapted for looping around the heel of the user and the latter across the instep, the ends 'of the bands being connected so that their normal relative positions .are in synclined planes; A nonelastic strap 3 for extension-under theinstep of the wear has its ends connected with the'bands' I and 2 where they are joined together. i The light reflecting elements 4 and I are slid? ably mounted, by means of loops 8, on the elastic bands I and 2,:so that their positions may be changed on the bands.
In applying the invention to the-foot of. the user, the toe of the shoe is inserted between'the band v2 and strap {with the band i under the sole of' the -shoe.. After theband 2 and strap 3 a. are in place, as indicated in Figure 1, the band I is pulled around on the heel, as shown in Figlire 1. With the reflecting elements positioned as shown in Figure 1, they are adapted to reflect the light rays from the headlights of motor vehicles either when. the user is walking toward the vehicle or away from the latter. If desired, however, by reason of the loops 6, the reflecting elel- 'ments may be slid'along the bands I and! to position both on the same side-of the foot or one on one side and one on the other side, or one, as shown in Figure 1- of the drawing, with'the other on one side of the foot.
' The invention having been described, what is claimed as new-and useful is:
the heel and terminating in angular extremities upon opposite sides of the shoe above'the arch thereof,- a second elastic band for disposal over the extremities of. the first mentioned band, said bands having light reflecting elements slidably connected thereto for adjustment along the length thereof and for normal disposal at the front and rear of the shoe, and a non-elastic strap for disposal under the arch of the shoe and
