4 Claims.' (01.206-57) The present invention relates generally to packets of stickers. More particularly, the invention relates to that'type of sticker packet in which the stickers are arranged in superposed relation.
and have; on the inner faces thereof, coextensive facings of-permanently tacky pressure-sensitive adhesive whereby they are adhesively secured together in packet form and are adapted after stripping apart or separation to be stuck against any selected surface or object for ornamentation or other purposes. 7
One object of the invention is to provide a sticker packet of this type which not only is an improvement upon previously manufactured packets of the same general character but also may be more readily handled in connection with stripping apart or separation of the stickers by reason of the fact that along one margin of the packet the stickers are providedwith small striplike pieces of holland which cover and are stuck to the adjacent portions of the adhesive facings and serve so to space apart or separate the contiguous'marginal portions of the stickers that I the latter may be readily gripped with the fingers in connection with stripping apart or separation thereof.
Another object 'of the invention is to provide a sticker packet of the last-mentioned type and character in which the marginal portions of the stickers having the strip-like pieces of holland stuck thereto, have projecting integral tabs which are covered on the adhesive-equipped inner surfaces thereof with the holland pieces and facilitate strippingapart or separation of the stickers in connection with use of the latter.
Other objects of the invention and the various advantages and characteristics of the present sticker packet will be apparent from aconsideration of the following description.
The invention consists in the several novel features which are hereinafter set forth and are more particularly defined by claims at the con-.
clusion hereof. v
In the drawing which accompanies and forms a part of this specification or disclosure and in which like numerals of reference denote corresponding parts throughout the several views:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a sticker packet embodying the invention; and c Figure '2 is an enlarged section taken on the line 2-2 of Figure 1 and showing or illustrating the manner in which the pieces of holland serve to cover the adhesive face portions of the projecting tabs and contiguous marginal portions of the stickers so that they are precluded from sticking together and may be readily gripped in connection with stripping apart or separation of the stickers j I The packet which is shown 'in Figure 1 of the drawing constitutes the preferred embodiment of the'invention. It is in the nature of .a new article of manufacture and consists of a plurality or set of superposedstickers 9. The latter'are adapted when stripped apart or separated from one another to be stuck to any selected surface or object and, depending upon their shape, serve as articles of utility or ornamentation. They are thin and flexible and are secured together in packet form by means of facings In of permanently tacky pressure-sensitive adhesive. The stickers which are shown in Figure 1 are for purposes of ornamentation-and simulate in appearance a small or miniature sailboat. It is to be understood, however, that the stickers may be shaped conformably to other articles or objects and also that they may be rectangular or circular if so desired and used as price tags in connection with the distribution and sale of articles or mer chandise. The stickers 8 are formed from an elongated web of tape-like materiallike that which forms the subject matter of United States Letters Patent No. 2,229,316, grantedto me on January21, 1941. Suchmaterial is composed of a base of paper or like material. The base is i'mthe'stickers in such manner that when the stickers are stripped apart or separated the facings remain in connected relation with the paper base portions and pull readily from the outer faces of the contiguous stickers. The bottom or lowermost sticker of the packet is protected from adhering to objects by way of a holland sheet l2. This sheet underlies and is stuck lightly to and is coextensive with the adhesive facing ill of the When the bottom bottom or lowermost sticker. or lowermost sticker is to be used, the holland sheet I2 is stripped from the adhesive facing of the lowermost sticker so as to expose such facing and permit the sticker to be stuck in place by the facing. When it is desired to use a sticker,
the upper or topmost sticker is separated from the sticker next below by stripping or pulling'it therefrom. During the stripping or pulling operation the adhesive facing for the topmost sticker is pulled from sticking relation with-the top or 7 upper face of the next sticker. Upon separation of the topmost sticker from the sticker next below it is adapted by pressing its adhesive facing into contact with any selected surface or object to be stuck 'to such surface or object. By reason of the fact that permanently tacky pressuresensitive rubber base adhesive is used, the sticker may be reused as many times as desired. As shown in Figure 1, the stickers it are provided with integral outwardly projecting tabs [3. These tabs are Joined to the stickers by reduced necks H. In Figure l the tabs are shown as being shaped conformably to a boat body. As illustrated in Figure 2, the adhesive facings Ill cover the inner faces of the tabs l3, In order to facilitate stripping apart or separation of the stickers 9, each sticker is provided along the tab-equipped margin, thereof with a holland piece IS. The pieces I underlie and are lightly stuck to the portions of the adhesive facings which underlie the tabs'andthe adjacent marginal portions of the stickers. .They serve to separate and prevent sticking together of the tabs and the margins that are, associated therewith with the result that the tabs and said associated margins are free with respect to oneanother and may be readily gripped in connection with stripping apart or separation of the stickers. When the topmost sticker is to be removed from the packet, the tab ii! for such sticker is gripped by the fingers and then pulled upwardly. Because of the holland piece which is stuck to the tab of the top or uppermost sticker the tab is in separated relation with respect to the subjacent tab and hence it is possible readily to grip it in connection with the stickers with which they are associated, Upon stripping or removal of the holland pieces from the stickers, all portions of the adhesive facings are exposed and the stickers may hence be pressed or stuck flatly throughout the entire area thereof .against the selected or desired surface orobject. Because of the adhesive protecting holland pieces on the tabs l5, the tabs, as clearly shown in Figure 2, spread outwardly in a radial manner and are hence easy togrip with the fingers in connection with stripping apart or separation of the stickers.
The herein described sticker packet is capable of ready handling as far as separation of the stickers thereof is concerned, because the portions of the adhesive facings under the tabs l3 and the adjacent margins of the stickers embody the hol-' land pieces l5 which serve to separate the tabs and such margins and prevent them from sticking together.
Theinvention is not to be understood as restricted to the details set forth, since these may be modified within the scope of the appended claims, without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
Having thus-described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. As a new article of manufacture, a packet comprising a set of stickers of similar size and shape arranged insuperposed relation and having along one margin thereof integral outwardly projecting tabs with reduced neck portions between them and said tabs and also having coextensive facings of permanently tacky pressure-sensitive adhesive on their inner faces whereby they are secured adhesively together and are adapted upon stripping apart or separation to be stuck against any selected surface or object, and pieces of holland type material stuck lightly to and covering the portions of the adhesive facings on the inner faces of thetabs and serving to space apart and separate the tabs so that they may be readily gripped in connection with stripping apart or separation of the stickers.
2. As a new article of manufacture, a packet comprising a set of stickers of similar size and shape arranged in superposed relation and having integral outwardly projecting small sized tabs' along one side margin of the set and in addition coextensive facings of permanently tacky pressure-sensitive adhesive on their inner faces.
that they may be readily gripped in connection with stripping apart or separation of the stickers. 3. As a new article of manufacture, a packet comprising a set of paper stickers of similar size margins of the stickers and serving to space apart and separate the-tabs and said adjacent margins and shape arranged in superposed relation and having integral outwardly projecting tabs with reduced neck portionsbetween them and the tabs and also having coextensive facings of permanently tacky pressure sensitive adhesive on their inner faces whereby they are adhesively secured together and are adapted upon stripping apart or separation to be stuck against any selected surface or object, and pieces of holland type material stuck to and covering the portions of the adhesive facings that are on the tabs, necks and adjacent margins of the stickers and serving to space apart and separate the tabs and said adjacent margins of the stickers so that they may be readily gripped in connection apart or separation of the stickers.
4. As a new article of manufacture, a packet comprising a set of.paper stickers of similar size and shape arranged in superposed relation and having integral outwardly projecting tabs with reduced neck portions between them and the tabs and also having coextensive facings of perma-- together and are adapted upon stripping apart or separation to be stuck against any selected surface or object, pieces ofholland type material stuck to and covering the portions of the adhesive facings that are on the tabs, necks and adjacent of the stickers so that they may be readilygripped in connection with stripping apart or separation of the stickers, and a single sheet of holland type material of the same size and shape as the stickers fitting against and stuck removably to the remaining portion of the adhesive facing of the lowermost sticker.
