The present invention relates to a new and. improved game apparatus and has for its primary object the provision of a game that will require a certain amount of skill and will allord amusement and entertainment to both players and spectators.

Another object of the invention is to provide a game apparatus including a box-like receptacle formed with a plurality of narrow compartments extending transversely thereof and a slide bar supported for roc-king movement for depositing a ball or sphere into one of the compartments of the box.

A further object of the invention resides in the provision of a game apparatus having the above characteristics in which a further means is provided for tilting the slide bar while rocking the same to further aid in depositing a ball or sphere into a selected compartment of the box.

The invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and specically pointed out in the appended claims.

In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a game apparatus embodying the features of the present invention.

Figure 2 is a transverse sectional view thereof.

Figure 3 is a longitudinal sectional View.

Figure 4 is a fragmentary top plan view of a modified form of the invention.

In the preferred embodiment of the invention disclosed in Figures 1, 2 and 3, there is provided a box-like structure which is generally designated by the reference numeral 5, the same being of elongated rectangular formation and formed with end walls 6, side walls I and a bottom wall 8. A plurality of transverse partitions 9 are held between the side walls I to form a series of narrow compartments Il). Each compartment will be designated by a number as indicated at II printed or otherwise formed on the outer face of one side wall I and in the playing of the game each compartment will have a definite numerical value.

A rectangular-shaped block I2 is mounted on a pivot pin I3 in the center of the box 5, the pivot pin passing through the central pair of partition members and holding the block I2 substantially flush with the upper edge of said members. As

will hereinafter appear, ther block I2 is mounted for rocking movement about the longitudinal center of the box onV its pin I3. A rod I4 which extends transversely of the box 5 is slidably and rotatably supported in the block I2. One end I5 of the rod Ill is bent upwardly at substantially right angles to the side wall 1 for supporting a slide bar I6. The up-turned end I5 carries a tubular rod I'I which is heldfagainstthe lower face of the slide bar I6 and attached thereto by spring clips I8 thus making the bar I6 `an integral part of the rod I4 so that movement of the rod will effect movement of the slide bar. The slide bar I6 is formedwith a side flange I8 and end llanges I9, said flanges adapted to confine a ball or sphere 2B on the slide bar.

The slide bar I6 is adapted to be manipulated through the medium of the rod Ill to dispose the ball 2li into a selected compartment III during the playing of the game. The opposite end 2| of the rod Id is bent upwardly and outwardly so as to project beyond the front wall 1, said projecting end being provided with a knob 22 for manipulating the rod I 4.

The game will further include a plurality, preferably 10, of the balls 20 and the object of the game is to manipulate the slide bar I5 bearing one of the balls and dispose that ball into a selected compartment. Since the compartments have different numerical values, the contestant placing the balls into compartments which total the greatest number is declared the winner. With the slide bar supported in a substantially horizontal position, a ball 2l) is placed thereon and the operator will then select the compartment that he desires to dispose the ball in. The knob 22 is grasped and by raising upwardly on the same the block I2 will be tilted toward the rear wall of the box putting the ball in motion. The rod I4 may then be rotated in a clockwise or anticlockwise direction for tilting the bar IS toward either end of the box and simultaneously therewith pressing downwardly on the knob 22 will release the ball from the slide bar into the compartment. Thus it will be seen that the rod I4 effects a rocking motion of the block I2 While permitting said rod to be rotated in the block or to be slidable therein. Various rules can be in effect for governing the playing of two or more contestants.

In Figure 4 of the drawing there is shown a modiiied form of the invention which includes the use of an arcuate-shaped bar 23 as a substitute for the slide bar I6. The bar 23 is likewise formed with flanges 24 and 25, respectively, for

retaining the bar thereon and is connected to the operating rod I4 in the manner previously described. The curved bar 23 may serve to add further interest in the playing of the game and it is preferred that each apparatus sold will include each of the bars, so that one can be substituted for the other. The clip means for attaching the rod I4 to the slide bars permits rapid interchanging thereof.

Also it will be understood, of course, by those skilled in the art that variations in the hereinabove described device involving the substitution of substantal equivalents for the devices described are intended to be comprehended Within the spirit of the present invention and that the invention is capable of extended application and is not conned to the exact showing of the drawing nor to the precise construction described and, therefore, such changes and modifications may be made therein as do not affect the spirit of the invention nor exceed the scope thereof as expressed in the appended claims.

What is claimed is:

1. A game apparatus of the character described comprising a base member, a block pivotally mounted on said base member, means attached to said block for imparting a rocking motion thereto, and a longitudinally disposed bar connected to said means adapted to be actuated upon rocking said block.

2. A game apparatus of the character described comprising a base member, a series of transverse partitions attached to said base member for forming a series of compartments, a

blocki mounted substantially centrally of said Y base member, means attached to said block for imparting a rocking motion thereto, and a longitudinally disposed bar connected to said means adapted to be actuated upon rocking said block.

3. A game apparatus of the character described comprising a base member having side and end Walls and a bottom Wall, a plurality of partitions extending transversely of said base member to form a series of compartments, a block mounted substantially centrally of said base member and pivotally supported between a pair of said partitions, a rod slidably and rotatably mounted in said block, one end of said rod being bent at right angles, and a longitudinally disposed bar attached to said bent end adapted to be actuated by said rod.

A game apparatus of the character described comprising a substantially rectangularshaped box-like member having a plurality of compartments formed therein, a block pivotally mounted substantially centrally of said member, a rod extending through said block member for actuating the same, a longitudinally disposed bar attached to one end of said rod above said box-like member, said bar adapted to be longitudinally and transversely moved by means of said rod yand Isaid block, and means for removably attaching said bar to said rod.

5. A game rapparatus of the character described comprising a substantially rectangularshaped box-like member having a plurality of compartments formed therein, a block pivotally mounted substantially centrally of said member, a rod extending through said block member for actuating the same, an arcuate-shaped bar attached to one end of said rod and disposed above said box-like member, said bar adapted to be longitudinally and transversely moved by means of said rod and said block, and means for removably attaching said bar to said rod.
