This invention relates to improvements in toilet accessories, and more particularly an accessory for dispensing tissue in combination with lipstick or similar material.

Objects hinged closure having means for temporarily locking the same when in closed condition; to secure simplicity of construction and operation; and to obtain other advantages and results as may be brought out in the following description.

Description As seen from the drawing, the several figures are particularly directed to a construction whereby a toilet tissue may be used in combination with the use of lipstick or the like from a one piece construction of a toilet accessory I 0. For purposes of illustration the showing of the toilet accessory in the several figures are exaggerated in size so as to more clearly understand its operability. In actual construction the device will be considerably smaller to enable a person to place the same in a purse or handbag without taking up too much room and at the same time be enabled to use it very conveniently. While I have shown my improved toilet accessory as a combination device for dispensing paper tissue and for simultaneous use of lipstick or the like, I wish it to be understood the invention is more particularly directed to the dispensing of the tissue.

Now referring more particularly to the drawing, the toilet accessory l0 preferably may be constructed of any suitable shape, such as round, square, octagon and so forth and may be of metal or any other suitable material. As shown the device is round and is provided in its lower end or body portion with a chamber for a lipstick or the like H, secured therein in any conventional manner and when not in actual use may be protected by a removable closure cap l2.

The body portion l3 upwardlybeyond the lipstick chamber is provided with a tissue chamber l4 and preferably is a continuation of the lipstick or the like chamber with a partition I5 separating said chambers. Said upper body preferably is hollow and is provided with a closed end as by a cap I6 and in the front thereof is provided with a swinging member ll securely hinged to the body portion I3 of the accessory. An opening I8 is provided in the upper chamber in back of and of a size slightly smaller than the swinging member. Said member I! for clarity may be referred to as the upper chamber closure for the opening I8 and may be swung to open position by virtue of being hingedly secured to the upper portion as at I9. When desiring to retain the closure member in closed position, means may be utilized at the upper and lower inside portions of the closure member whereby said member may be temporarily held in locked relationship with the upper chamber. Such means may be conveniently in the form of extensions which may be bent and curved slightly to provide spring clips 20,, 20 to engage depressions 2|, 2| provided in the body portion I3 thereby temporarily locking the closure member when desiring to release tissue from within the chamber M by virtue of a slitted opening between the body portion and said closure.

Adjacent the opening I4, the material comprising the body portion I3 is bent inwardly towards the chamber 14 to provide for a longitudinal cupped shaped member 22 to be entirely hidden from view when the closure member I! is in closed or locked position. Adjacent the top and bottom of the body portion and centrally of the cupped-shaped member the body portion material is crimped as at 23, 23 which will accommodate and retain in place an actuating member 24. Said actuating member where held within the crimped portion 23 preferably is of small diameter so as to rotate freely by virtue of a knurled head 25 protruding on the outside of the top of the accessory.

The integral cupped shaped member 22 is curved sufliciently to accommodate the actuating member 24 and as such provides a recess whereby the actuating member will not make direct contact therewith. The actuating member preferably may be of metal or rubber and may be, if desired, an integral part of the reduced portions within the crimped portions 23, 23 of the body material. However, it is desirable that the main or central part of the actuating member be of a diameter considerably larger than the reduced end portions, and preferably knurled so as to present a firmer gripping surface when in use. Likewise, it preferably may be of a longitudinal length substantially that of the cupped shaped member 22.

In carrying out the invention the chamber M is sufficiently large enough to receive therein a roll of facial tissue 26 which can be inserted into said chamber through the opening It. This roll of tissue ordinarily does not have any perforations when in rolled condition whereby lengths of individual pieces may be determined before the tissue is released from within the chamber. To

, this end the closure member H at its inner edge and between the respective spring clips 29 may be provided with saw-like teeth or serrations 21 which will allow cutting or severing any lengths of a pieceof tissue from the roll with slight pressure thereagainst. It will be noted that when the closure'is in locked position it is slightly offset fromthe body portion l3 so as to permit the loose end of the tissue to protrude slightly out from within the chamber and outside body portion. When desiring to release a strip of tissue the user may turn the knurled knob 25 in a clockwise direction and as the tissue moves in anoutwarddirection from within the chamber the frictional surfaceof the actuating member 2G engages the surface of the tissue until a desired length has been dispensed. The tissue dispensed isthen grasped by the user with the part next the closure i? brought upwardly and away from the accessory and at the same time engaging the serrations 21 and with a slight pulling will be severed from the roll within-the chamber and leaving a sumcient amount at the severed edge and adjacent the actuating member 2 which will allow for dispensing another strip under influence of the knob iiti until allthe tissue comprising the roll is completely dispensed. rolls of tissue may be inserted when desired by releasing the spring clips 28 and opening the closure member ll. 1

Obviously detail changes and modifications may be made in the construction and use of my improved toilet accessory-without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention, and I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the exact construction or operation shown or described except as set forth in the following claims when construed in the light of the prior art.

I claim:

1. A toilet accessory of the character described comprising a body portion and having a chamber adapted to hold tissue therein, an opening in said body portion, a closure for said opening, rotating means for extruding the tissue from the chamber and outwardly between the closure and body portion, and said closure having means whereby the tissue may be severed at a desired length.

2. A toilet accessory of the character described comprising a body portion and having a chamber adapted to hold a roll of tissue therein, an opening in said body portion, a hinged closure overlying said opening and slightly offset in part from said body portion, an actuating frictional member between the body portion and said closure, means outside said accessory for rotating said frictional member, and said frictional member engaging the tissue and under actuation moving said tissue outwardly from the chamber between the closure and'frictional member.

A toilet accessory of the character described comprising a body portion and having a chamber adapted to hold a roll of tissue therein, an opening in said body portion, a hinged closure overlying said opening and slightly offset in part from said body portion, an actuating frictional member of a length substantially that ofv said offset opening between the body portion and said closure, means outside said accessory for rotating said frictional member, and said frictional member engaging the tissue and under actuation moving said tissue outwardly from the chamber between the closure and frictional member, and said closure having a serrated edge for severing the tissue at determined lengths.

A toilet accessory of the character described comprising a body portion and having a chamber adapted to hold a roll of tissue therein, an opening in said body portion, a hinged closure overlying said opening and slightly offset in part from said body portion, an actuating frictional member of a length substantially that of said offset opening between the'body portion and said closure, means outside said accessory for rotating said frictional member, said frictional member engaging thetissue andunder actuation moving said tissue outwardly from the chamber between the closure and frictional member, said closure having a serrated edge for severing the tissue at determined lengths, and said closurehaving looking means at its upper and. lower ends for temporarily locking to said body portion.
