MEANS FOR CHANGING THE EXPRESSION OF PAGE Filed July 20, 1939 jrmen oi,
I Jafrz iz'c/z Patented Apr. 21, 1942 S fen"- KENT FFlCE Istvan Gliick, Budapest, Hungary Application July 20, 1939, Serial No. 285,618 In Hungary July 20, 1938 2 Claims.
In the technics of theatre and motion pictures it is very often necessary to alter temporarily the expression of the face. This task was hitherto solved by external masking which in many cases was not perfect. Moreover, in the cosmetics it is often required to render irregular faces regular or to correct changes of the countenance which could be done up till now by a physician, more particularly by a surgeon, only, that is in an operative way.
The invention provides a means by the aid of which all these tasks may be solved very easily and perfectly without any external masking or operation.
The invention will be more clearly understood from the following description and drawing, in which the same reference characters refer to the same parts throughout.
In the drawing:
Fig. 1 is a sectional view of the invention as applied to the mouth of the wearer,
Fig, 2 is a perspective View of the insert with the attaching member,
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a modified form of the invention having a stirrup as an attaching member,
Fig. 4.- is a perspective view of a modified form of the invention, the insert having an arm spacing the same from the attaching member,
Fig. 5 is a perspective view of a modified form of the invention having a pair of arms connecting the insert with the attaching member,
Fig. 6 is asectional view of a modified form of the invention, in which the insert is detachably connected to the attaching member, and
Fig. '7 is a perspective View of a modified form of the invention in which the insert is detachably connected to the attaching member by a pair of arms.
The means according to the invention is an insert which may be fastened in the mouth, on the teeth, whereby the shape, surface and the position of this insert, as compared with the teeth, is chosen in agreement with the desired change of the face.
By the insert according to the invention the expression of face is altered in the first place by changing the position of the so-called deflection-fold. Under deflection-fold the mucous membrane is meant which connects the inner mucous membrane of the face with the gums. In this way it is rendered possible to let a young face appear older or on the contrary to make an old countenance younger, to change a round face to an oval or square one and vice-versa; it is also possible to make the lips thicker or thinner, to alter the shape of the chin, etc,
The shape, surface and position of the insert is varied according to the individual face in connection with which the insert is to be used. The attaching members to be employed are also formed in accordance with the countenance and the teeth of the individual. This attaching member may consist of a ring 2, or stirrup 3 or the like adapted to be fastened on the teeth. The attaching member is fastened to the insert l directly, but, alternatively, it may be connected to the insert by one or more arms 4 as shown in Figures 4, 5 and 7.
The insert I can be rigidly connected to the teeth for continuous wear in which case the user himself cannot remove it. In case of need, a skilled person, for instance a dentist, can remove this insert, It is however preferable to fasten the insert on the teeth in an easily detachable manner to enable the user to fasten or remove the same at will as shown in Figures 6 and 7. Finally, the insert or a part thereof may be detachably connected to the attaching member so that the insert may be fully or partly removed by the user while the attaching member remains in the mouth.
In Fig. 7, the attaching means are illustrated as removably connected to the insert l by a universal joint connection.
In this specification, under teeth, natural teeth or artificial ones are to be understood.
The effect attained by the means according to the invention may be called in contradistinction to the known methods mentioned in the introductory part of this specification an inner masking of the face.
I claim:
1. In a device for changing the expression of the face, an insertion adapted to be situated in one of the deflection folds of the face, fastening means adapted to be attached to one or more teeth, and at least one rod connecting the said insertion with the said fastening means and spacing the same from the teeth.
2. A device as claimed in claim 1, wherein a universal joint is provided at at least one end of the rod.
