Application April 15, 1941, Serial No. 388,688
1 Claim.
This invention relates to a holder for toilet paper and it is an object of the invention to pro vide a device of this kind embodying a structure permitting the holder to be supported by the flush tank to one side thereof.
It is also an object of the invention to profor toilet paper, whereby certain important advantages are attained, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order that my invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein:
Figure 1 is a view in elevation of a toilet paper holder constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention and in applied position, the associated tank being shown in fragment.
Figure 2 is a view in outer end elevation of the holder, as herein comprised.
Figure 3 is a view in bottom plan of the outer extremity of the arm of the frame.
As disclosed in the accompanying drawing, my improved holder comprises a frame F of desired dimensions and design. The bottom member 1 of the frame F, as herein disclosed, is relatively broad and is continued at one side of the frame F by an elongated arm 2, herein disclosed as of substantially the same Width as the bottom member I.
The outer or free end portion of this arm 2, at substantially its transverse center, is provided with a longitudinally disposed open slot 3. This slot is of a width to allow the free end portion of the arm 2 to straddle the Water supply line or more particularly the nipple or tailpiece 4 of a conventional ball-cock valve and which nipple extends through the bottom of the tank and has threaded thereon a lock nut 5 which holds the ball-cock in place. This arm 2 straddles this nipple 4 above the nut whereby the nut will per- 'manently clamp the arm 2 against the under surface of the bottom 6 of the tank T.
In the present embodiment of my invention, the side members I are provided with open slots to receive a mandrel 8 for a paper roll 9. It is believed to be understood, however, that the frame F may be of a structure to allow the placement therein of packs of toilet paper other than a roll. It is believed to be obvious that a holder constructed in accordance with my invention may be readily applied in position with respect to the flush tank T and in a manner to hold a paper pack in such position to allow the same to be readily reached by an occupant of the toilet seat and also in a position to be out of the way.
In referring in the foregoing description and in the following claim to a frame, it is to be understood that this is to include any structure for holding a toilet paper pack in the form of a roll or otherwise.
From the foregoing description it is thought to be obvious that a holder for toilet paper constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and operated.
I claim:
In combination with a flush tank having a member depending from the bottom wall thereof, of a toilet paper holder for use in connection with the flush tank, said holder comprising a frame including side members and a bottom member, the side members being provided with means whereby a paper roll may be supported therebetween, a laterally disposed aim extending from an end of the bottom member of the frame, said arm being broad, the outer or free end portion of the arm having an open slot disposed lengthwise thereof, said arm being adapted to contact the bottom of the tank from. below, the slot in the arm allowing the outer end portion of the arm to straddle the member depending from the bottom wall of the tank, and a clamping element engaging the member depending from the tank for holding the arm in close contact against the bottom Wall of the tank with the frame in a position to one side of the tank.
WILLIAM GALENA.
