H in a manner customary with purse constructions of this type. In the closed position the frames I2 and I3 are suitably locked by means of cooperating snap fasteners or the like as shown at l5 secured to each of the metal pieces.

Any other known closure or fastening device may be employed, the particular construction thereof forming no part of the invention.

According to the present invention, one or preferably both pouch faces [0 are provided with an opening or window covered with preferably flexible transparent material such as glass, preferably of the unbreakable type, Celluloid, regenerated cellulose known as Cellophane, cellulose acetate or any other of the known transparent plastic or artificial resinous materials. Alternatively, the window in the pouch faces of the purse, as shown in the example illustrated may be covered with mesh or screen material l9 secured thereto in a suitable manner. fore, coin purses had to be opened to determine their contents and in some cases the coins 20 had to be removed to determine their correct denomination and value. This and other disadvantages are overcome by the present invention Heretoin that the contents such as coins I9 can be readily observed from the outside through the transparent window. In this connection it is specially advantageous to provide a transparent window in both of the opposite pouch faces, whereby by holding the purse against the light or a bright object the contents therein may be readily observed and details thereof examined.

The screen or mesh material is preferably, although not limitatively, composed of flexible strands of thermoplastic material such as regenerated cellulose, cellulose acetate or any of the artificial plastic materials known in the art and woven in the manner of an insect screen. The strands from which the screen is woven may be either solid strands or strands composed of many twisted fibres. A suitable way of supporting a screen of this type is to mount it in a flexible frame 2| as shown in Figure 1 such as of rubber and preferably directly molded around the edges of the screen and secured to the window in the pouch faces of the purse in any suitable manner such as by sewing as indicated by stitches 22 in the drawing.

In Figure 2 there is shown a purse similar to that of Figure 1 wherein the window in one or preferably both pouch faces is covered with a piece of Cellophane 19 or any other suitable transparent material mentioned hereinabove and secured in any suitable manner such as by sewing as shown by stitches 22.

Referring to Figures 3 and 4, there is shown a modification of a purse construction and method of making same in accordance with the invention. In this exemplification substantially the entire purse is constituted by transparent material, in the example shown by a mesh or screen 25 mounted in a rubber frame 26 or the like of suitable shape as shown in Figure 3, preferably molded around it to form a flexible mounting frame or support. The screen is folded about its symmetry axis x:c and the opposite lower portions of the frame adjacent to the folding axis are secured together by stitches 21 or in any other suitable manner to form a pouchlike container, with the upper portions of the frame forming a mouth provided with a suitable closure device such as a snap fastener or preferably a zip fastener shown at 28 of known construction having a slider 29.

It will be evident from the foregoing that the invention is not limited to the specific details and arrangements of parts shown and described herein for illustration and that changes and variations may be resorted to coming within the broader scope as defined in the appended claims.

I claim:

1. A purse-like container having a pair of flexible side walls integrally interconnected at the bottom and connected at the side edges and open at the top to form a pouch, said walls being formed substantially of a reticular mesh material consisting of a plurality of interwoven thermoplastic monofil strands of a flexible bendable material, the reticular spacings between ible side walls integrally interconnected at the bottom and connected at the side edges and open at the top to form a pouch, said walls being formed substantially of a reticular mesh material consisting of a plurality of interwoven thermoplastic monofil strands of a flexible bendable material, the reticular spacings between adjacent strands being substantially wider than the strands, said reticular mesh being continuous around the bottom of the purse, the interior of the purse being clearly visible from either side while said purse is closed.
