This invention relates to a packet or folder containing manicuring aids.

In traveling or in doing ordinary tasks the nails accumulate dirt and otherwise become carrying of some sharp instrument of a permanent nature. Also, it is frequent that a nail becomes broken or split and gives a great amount of annoyance; and in such case it would be of great advantage to take from a convenient purse packet a suitable abrasive strip which may be discarded after use.

It is a general object of my invention to provide a packet or folder which will meet the needs above referred to. More specifically an object of the invention is to provide a packet or folder which contains the necessary manicure elements in the form of removable strips which may be easily taken from the folder, used in treating the nails, and then discarded. It is desired that the folder be capable of very economical construction with a minimum of material. Other objects and advantages will appear as the specification proceeds.

One embodiment of the invention is illustrated by the accompanying drawing in which:

In the embodiment illustrated, the improved packet has a cover A which may be made of any suitable material. Suitably the cover may be formed of an elongated paper strip of uniform width. One end of such a strip, here designated by the character I0, is turned forwardly to make a fold. The strip extends upwardly to form the back ll of the cover, and is folded forwardly and downwardly along the edges l2 and i3 respectively. The other end portion ll of the strip serves as the front of the cover and also as a flap which can be opened to expose the contents. The extreme end Ila. is tucked under the forwardly turned end [0 when the packet is closed.

Contained within the folder is the sheet B which is adjacent the back H and has its lower edge l5 disposed within the fold l6 provided by the forwardly turned end III. This sheet has spaced vertical cuts l9 extending downwardly to the lower portion l5 and providing a series of strips I! which are secured only at their lower ends. At their upper ends strips II are pointed as more clearly illustrated in Figure 4 of the drawing. Suitably, the sheet B, and consequently the strips II, may be of paper or cardboard, laminated wood, or other suitable material, and may advantageously carry at least on one side and preferably on both sides an abrasive material.

The embodiment here shown contains also a second sheet C which may also be formed of a paper or paper-like material. The lower portion 20 of this sheet, like the lower portion of sheet B, is disposed within the fold it, and is held fast by the wire staple 2|. Any other suitable fastening means might be used. Sheet C, like sheet B,has spaced vertical cuts 22 which provide strips 23 secured only at their lower ends. At their upper ends strips 23 are pointed and provided at their points with nail white composltion 24. This may be any well known nail white composition and may be formed on these points by dipping them in liquid nail white and permitting this to congeal, or by any other suitable process. Desirably, the sheets B and C aresecured in the cover with their cuts aligned so that a strip in one row may be bent and removed more easily after the corrcsponding strip in the other row has been removed.

If desired, the sheets B and C may be provided with lines of weakness 2! and 28 along the base of the strips so that the strips may be more easily torn oil when intended for use. Also, lines of weakness might be substituted for the vertical cuts in each of these sheets, but it is preferable that cuts be used so that the strips may be more easily removed.

In the use of the improved packet, it may be carried around in a ladys purse or in a gentleman's pocket until such occasion as it may be needed. After opening the cover by turning back the front I, the user may pull ofl one of the strips l1 and run its pointed end beneath the fingernail tips to clear any dirt that may have accumulated. then brush the abrasive side of the strip over the end of the nail to shape and smooth it. This used strip may then be discarded. One of the strips 23 is then pulled off in the same way, and after moistening the nail or the tip of the strip, the user passes this tip underneath the nail to whiten the exposed edge. A manicure packet comprising a cover formed of a paper strip, said strip having one end turned forwardly to form a fold and having its other end tucked under said one end when said packet is closed, a sheet having a sanded surface and having parallel cuts providing a series of sheet rearward of said firstmentioned sheet and having parallel cuts forming a second series of strips, said second series of strips having their one equipped with nail white at sheets being secured within said fold, the strips of each of said series being tearable from its sheet and so individually removable from said packet.
