This invention relatesv to stick and paperdispensert Y An object of this invention-is" tofprovide a highlyl improved article off the character described having means to dispensepaper lfor cleaning fingers after spreadingli-pstick on the lips, or for any other purpose;
A further object of this inventionY is to-provide in a device of' the character described, highly improved means for insuring positive ejection of the paper from a roll within thel holder. Yet a further object of this invention is to provide a compact and durable device of the character described', which sha1-l be relatively inexpensive to manufacture, easy toassemble, and reiill, and yet practical and eiiicient to a high degree in use.
Other objects of this invention will in part be obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out.
The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combination of elements, and arrangement of parts whichwill be exemplified inthe construction hereinafter described, and of which the scope of application will be indicatedin the following claii-ns.I
In the accompanying' drawing,` *inA vwhich is a combination lipshown one of the various. possible illustrative embodiments of this invention,
Fig. 1 isa iront elevational 'view of a combi-V nation lipstickv andi paper dispenser embodying the invention;
Fig. 2` is a side elevationalv view of the lipstick removed from the holder;
Fig.` 3 is` an elevational crossese'ctional View through the paper holder;
Fig. 4 is a cross-sectional view taken on line ll--' of Fig. 3;
Fig. 5 is an elevational,
lfview taken on line 1 1 ofY Fig. 1; and
Fig. 8y is an enlarged, cross-sectional view taken on line 8-8 of Fig. 1. f i
Referring now in detail to the drawing, Iii designates a combination"lipstick:v and paper dis` penser embodying` the invention. The same com prises a member II having a lcircular bottom wall l2 formed in the top surface thereof with an annular groovev i3. Fixed to the bottonfi'wall cross-sectional n view through the slotted outer cylinder through which f view takenV on line l2 is a radial, pin l5 traversing the groove I3, l L
for the purpose hereinafter appearing.
Extendingup'wardly from the bottomwall 'f2 is a cylindrical' wall Hoo-axial' with said bottom wall. The cylindrical wall I'l isV open at theytop, as shown in Fig; 3' of the drawing.
Mountedon member vIl and telescoped therewith, is a member 20. shown in Fig. 6 of the drawing. Said member 20 comprises ya cylindricalwall 2l' formed with a, longitudinal slot 22 termi'- natingshort of the upper end thereof,'and extending all the way down to the lower end thereof. The slot 22 forms a pair of parallel, longitudinal edges 23 and 215,. Edge 2li isk serrated as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawing.
Extending inwardly from edge 24, adjacent the bottom end" 21tr of cylindrical wallr2l is a short; `slot 2 6.
when member Il is tted into member `2li, the lower edge 21a of cylindricalY wall -:i lits into the groove and pin` |5- passes into slot 2I of cylindrical wall 2 l.. Thereafter, a slight rotation of member 20, relative to memberl ll causes engagement of pin I5 within said slot 26 to attach y the member 20 to member H'.
vFixed within the upper end of cylinder2-I is a spacer ring Sil, having an outer cylindrical i? wall 3| contacting the inner surface of cylinder 2l, an inner cylindrical Wall.32 concentric with cylindrical'wall 3l, and an annular bottom' wall. 33.interconnecting walls 3I land 32. Extending y outwardly fromgwall 3l; of ring 30 isv aange 36 contacting the upper: edge of cylinder'2i. .The
ring 3l)k may be xed to the cylindrical wall ,2i in any suitable manner. It will now be understoodthat when members ll and 2i! are intertted, a cylindrical chamberZila is formed'there between for a roll of paperR. f f
Fixed to cylindrical'wall 2l is a paper guide |20. The same comprises a' portion iloverlying the outer surface of'cylin'drical wall 2l, adjacent edge 23 thereof, and xed to said wall by means `:lof screws Vt2, or in'any suitable manner.
H surrounding the cylindrical wall Il. The rollA of paperris disposed between member M) and wall l'l, asV shown inFig. 8 of the drawing-. The outer end of Athe paper passes between'the tongue portion 45' and cylindrical wall 2li, and out through slot 22 so that a piece' of' paper may be tornv against the serrated edge' 24 of the cylindrical wall 2|.
` The diameterof' cylindrical wall 2t is equal to the diameter ofthegroove i3, so that Means is provided to facilitate ejection of paper from the device I0. To this end, wall 2| is formed with a circular opening 50, adjacent the serrated edge 24 and overlying tongue 45. Mounted on wall 2l above and below said opening 5I), are longitudinally aligned brackets 5| formed with parallel aligned slots 52. Rotatably mounted on and between the brackets 5I is a roller 54 projecting into opening 5B. The roller 54 is provided with an axle 55, the ends of which project into the slots 52.
It Will be noted that the roller 54 has a little movement toward and laway from tongue 45. The paper from the roll R passes between the roller 54 and the tongue 45. The outer surface ofthe roller is preferably knurled, as at 60. v
It will now be understood that the `roller 54 may be rotated in a counterclockwise direction, looking at Fig. 2 of the drawing to facilitate dispensing of paper outwardly through the slot 22.
The pressure of the finger o-n the roller presses the roller against the paperto push the paper out of the slot 22.
If it is desired to replace the roll of paper, member ll is rotated about its axis untilpin l5 moves out of slot 26. An axial movement of member I I relative to member will then separate said members. A new roll may then be placed on member Il and member Il may then be inserted into member 2 0.
It will be noted that the upper end of cylindrical wall I1 frictionally fits within the inner Wall 32 of ring 3E. It will be noted furthermore that the upper end of wall I1 projects beyond the outer end of ring 3l, for the purpose hereinafter appearing.
Frictionally tted within member Il is a lipstick holder 19. The lipstick holder 'lll comprises a cylindrical wall 1l, to one end of which there is rotatably mounted an ejector head 13 for a piece of lip rouge 14. Member 'l0 may be of usual construction, and Wall 1l frictionallyY ts within wall I1. The upper end of wall I1 retains the rotary member 13 spaced from the upper end of member 29, as shown in Fig. l of the drawing.
It will now be understood that the user of the device l0 may first pull out the lipstick holder l0 and use the same. Quite often the user of the lipstick spreads the lipstick on the lips by the use of a iinger tip. By turning the roller 54, a suiicient length of paper isV pushed through the opening 22 and this length of paper may then be torn oir against the serrated edgev 24`to be used for cleaning the iinger tip.
It will thus be seen that there is provided a device in which the several objects of this invention are achieved, and which is well adapted to meet the conditions of practical use.
As various possible embodiments might be made of the above invention, and as various changes might be made in the embodiment above set forth, it is to 'be understood that all matter herein set forth or shown in the accompanying drawing is to be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense. l
