SOAP DISPENSER Filed Dec. 19, 1942 Inventor 321mm Zwak/ jy Patented oci. 26, 1943 NITED STATE NT Fries The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in soap dispensers of the iluid type, and has for one of its important objects to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a device of this character which, with the addition of water, if necessary, is adapted to use soap in cake form.
Another very important object of the invention is to provide a dispenser of the aforementioned character which is adapted to convenient-e ly receive and. dispense pieces of soap or the wafers which are ordinarily thrown away, there-1 by preventing Waste.
Stili another important object of the invention is to provide a dispenser of the character described which serves as a tray for holding a caire soap.
il still further important object of the invention is to provide a dispenser of the character set forth which is adapted to receive and retain the drairrlngs .from a caire of soap reposing in the "troy, thereby further preventing Waste.
another object ci the invention is to provide soap dispenser or" .the iluicl type comprising means wher y a piece of soap may be Couveniently grated and deposited therein.
Other objects of the invention are to provid an improved soep dispenser which will be cornparotively simple iii-construction, strong, durable, highly eiiioient and reliable in use, compact, and which be manufactured at low cost.
nii oi the foregoing and still further objects end advantages ci" the invention will become apparent from o study of the following speoincation, teken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein like characters of reference designate eorrespondine` parts throughout the several views, and wherein:
Figure l is a view in front elevation of a soap dispenser embodying the present invention, the upper and lower portions of the device being broken away in section.
Figure 2 is a top plan view.
Referring now to the drawing in. detail, it will loe seen that reference numeral i designates a container ci suitable capacity and material. Depending from the bottom of the container l is a conventionai hand operated dispensing valve 2.
The top of tlie container i is open and removably mounted thereon is a tray 3 for the reception of a cake of soap or a portion thereof. The
bottom il oi the tray 3 has formed longitudinally Y therein a plurality of spaced, parallel drain slots 5.
Tite bottom @i ci the tray 3 is further provided with e longitudinally elongated opening Traversing a portion of the elongated opening 8 is a series of grating or shredding elements l.
It is thought that the operation of the device will be readily apparent from a consideration of the foregoing. Briey, after the cake oi soap has been used, it is placed in thetray 3. The soap laden water which drips from the soap in the tray 3 drains through the slots 5 and the opening B into the container i from which it may be conveniently dispensed as desired by actuating the valve 2. Pieces of soap or wafers may be deposited in the container .i through the unobstructed end portion of the elongated opening if desired, a quantity of water may be placed in lthe container i to dissolve or assist in dissolving the soap so deposited in said container. if the wafer or piece of soap is too large, or if for any other reason it is desired to shred same, this may loe conveniently accomplished in an obvious manner by scraping said soap across the elements l. l
Sit is believed that the many advantages oi an improved soap dispenser embodying the present iiavention will be readily understood, and although e, preferred crni of the device is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction may be resorted to which willi :fall Within the scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed is:
i. The cornninationwith a soap dispenser com@ prisina a container having an opening in its top and a dispensing valve, oi a tray for the recep tion of a caire of soap mounted on the container over the opening therein, said tray including a bottom having a drain passage therein communicating with the container.
2. The combination with a soep dispenser coinprising a container having an opening in its top and o dispensing valve, of a tray, for the reception oi a caire of soap, mounted on said container over the opening therein, said tray having an elongated drain passage thereiny communicating with the container,'and shredding elements in said passage.
3. The combination with a soap dispenser comprising a container having an opening in its top and a dispensing valve, oi` a tray, for the reception of a piece of soap, mounted on the container over the opening therein, said tray including a bottom having an elongated drain passage therein communicating with the container, and a series of shredding elements traversing an end portion of the passage.
e. The combination with a soap dispenser com.,
prising a container having an opening in its top and a dispensing valve. of a tray, for the reception of a piece of soap, removably mounted on the container over the opening therein. said tray comprising a bottom having an elongated openins therein communicating with the container, a
series ofv shredding elements vtraversing a portion of the opening, one end portion of said opening being free of said elements, said bottom of the tray further having a plurality of spaced drainv slots therein paralleling `'the elongated 5. opening on opposite sides thereof;y
