1 Claim.
Figure l is a perspective showing a portion of r the board with the light structure thereon.
Figure 2 is a fragmentary side elevational view.
Figure 3 is a fragmentary sectional and elevational view showing the board, clip and light structure.
Figure 4 is a fragmentary rear elevational view of the outfit.
Figure 5 is a perspective view showing a folder form.
Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen that the present invention embraces a board 5 upon which writing paper 6 is disposed.
Numeral I generally refers to an illuminating unit and this consists of a well 8 which rests upon the board 5 as shown in Figure 3, this well structure 8 having at its back side a boss 9 formed with a passageway therethrough for receiving the upstanding leg a of an angular member III, the lower horizontal leg I) of which is disposed against the underside of the board 5. A set screw I I is feedable into the boss 9 and against the upstanding leg a so as to firmly clamp the well 8 against the mounted board 5.
The well 8 carries a spring clip which consists of a curved finger rockable plate I2, one edge portion of which is straight for engaging paper 6 while the other end is reduced to provide a finger tab I3. The clip or plat I2 has ears I4 which interlap ears I5 on the well 8 and a pin I6 passes through these interlapping ears for hingedly connecting the clip plate I2 to the well 8. A spring I! is wound on the pin I6 and has its ends engaging the well 8 and the inner side of the clip plate I 2 so as to hold one edge of the plate snugly against paper 6 that is to be held in place on the board 5.
A flashlight including a case I8 is employed, the case I8 being disposed downwardly at its lower portion into the well 8 where it is held by a blister I9 on the inside of the well 8 engaging into a concavity 20 in the shell I8.
The shell I8 has a removable head portion 2I from which rises gooseneck-shaped hood 22 and in this is located a bulb 23. The gooseneck 22 has a bulls eye or lens 24 mounted therein and set to focus light onto the paper 6. Obviously, the flashlight is provided with suitable switch means and fastening means for the head 2|. Th flashlight may be removed and may be used separately.
A special application of the invention is shown in Figure 5, the paper Ba in this case being placed on a folder form 5a which includes side flap 5b, 5b. The outfit shown in Figure 5 includes an illuminating unit generally referred to by reference character Ia and this includes a clip I2a for engaging the paper 6a. The unit Ia and clip I2a are the same in construction as the unit I and the clip I2 shown in Figure 3.
While the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
An illuminating device for writing boards, folders, writing pads and similar articles comprising a base member carrying writing sheets, comprising an electric flashlight, including a casing with a flat bottom and a hood structure the latter provided with a lateral, downwardly inclined light ray emissionopening, a bail shaped boss on said casing, an angular member having a leg passing through saidbail shaped boss and another leg substantially parallel to the bottom portion of the casing means for adjustably fixing said angular member on said boss, a clip member having a gripping edge substantially parallel to the bottom portion of the flashlight casing, means for pivotally mounting said clip on the said casing, the axis of the pivot being substantially parallel to the above mentioned gripping edge, and a spring member
