4. Claims. (Cl. 206-16) Application April 12,
This invention relates to toilet articles for men, and more specifically to a receptacle for a safety razor and razor blades.
An object of the invention is to provide razor and razor blade receptacle that is adapted for use as a hanging bathroom fixture or as a travelling kit.
Another object is to provide a compact covered receptacle that can securely house a safety razor and blades and permit drainage of water dripping therein.
A further object is to provide a strong, sanitary durable receptacle that can be made at low unit cost.
These and other objects are accomplished in part in one form of the invention by providing a receptacle comprising a container and a laterally enclosed cover therefor. The container has rear, side, top and bottom walls and two compartments formed by portions of the side Walls in combination with partitions.
The arrangement is such that a safety razor can be positioned therein with its head resting on a horizontal partition whose upper surface slopes to permit drainage, the razor handle fitting snugly between the compartments, being held in place by a spring clip. The compartments are adapted to receive new individually wrapped blades and used blades and have sides with cut out portions to facilitate easy access to the blades.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
In the accompanying drawing forming a, material part of this disclosure:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a razor and razor blade receptacle that can be used as a removable hanging bathroom fixture, said receptacle incorporating features of the invention herein.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a container element of the receptacle shown in Fig. 1 with the cover removed.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the container element with a razor and blades retained therein.
Fig. 4 is a sectional view along the line 4-4 of Fig. 3. i
Fig. 5 is a perspective view of a variation of the invention.
Fig. 6 is a plan view of thereceptacle shown in Fig. 5.
Fig. 7 is a perspective view of a modified container element with the cover removed.
Fig. 8 is a plan view of the modified container shown in Fig. '7.
Fig. 9 is a sectional view along the line 9-9 of Fig. 8.
In the drawings and in the specification, in which like reference numbers designate similar elements, a razor and razor blade receptacle iii shown in Figures 1 to 4 inclusive, is adapted for use as a travelling kit or as a removable bathroom fixture, and comprises a container II and a removable cover 12 therefor.
The container H is oblong in shape and is formed with a rectangular rear wall l3 laterally enclosed by top and botom walls It and I5 respectively and two longer side walls 16, the top and bottom walls joining the side walls in rounded corners IT. A hole It extends through the rear wall l3 near the top wall and midway between the side walls, said hole having a round portion l9 and a slot 20 extending upwardly therefrom so that the container can be suspended from a nail or screw driven in a bathroom wall or medicine chest. Two oblong compartments 2i, each formed by top and bottom partitions 22 and 23 and a longer side partition 24, are proportioned to receive and hold safety razor blades of the conventional type, it being intended that one or" the compartments be utilized to retain new individually wrapped blades 25 resting on their ends and that the other hold used blades 26. The compartments are as deep as the container and are opposingly disposed about the vertical or longitudinal axis of the container in horizontal alignment midway between the top and bottom walls l4 and it. Each of the side partitions 24 has an arcuate out out portion 21 extending inwardly from its outer edge to facilitate ready access to the razor blades. The side partitions 24 are spaced apart so that a safety razor 29 can be positioned in head 30 resting on the top partitions 22 and its handle 3| suspended between the side partitions.
The removable cover I2 is formed with a rectangular front wall 32 laterally enclosed by two long side walls 33 and shorter end walls 34 meeting in rounded corners 35. A notch 36 extends into each side wall from its free edge 31 to permit easy removal of the cover which fits snugly over the open face of the container keeping its contents free of dust and in sanitary condition.
While the drawings show the hole l8 as positioned in the container, a hole similarly formed can be cut in the cover wall 32 and the receptacle suspended from a nail or screw extending therethe container with its through, all within the spirit of the invention herein.
The receptacle Ill, as hereinabove described, can be used as a, travelling shaving kit as well as a removable bathroom fixture since the cover retains the razor and blades securely in place when enclosing the container.
In the variation of the invention shown in Figs. and 6, a razor and razor blade container 38 is comprised of a rectangular rear wall 39 and a compartmental structure 40. The rear wall 39 has upper and lower edges 4| and 42 and longer side edges 43. An opening 44, similar to the opening I8 in the container Ii, extends through the rear wall near its upper edge 4| and midway between its side edges 43. The structure 40 is formed with top and bottom walls 45 and 46 respectively, two side walls 47 and two partitions 48, and is positioned on the rear wall with its tioned therein on end and a center compartment Aligned arcuate notches 5! are cut out of the side walls and partitions to facilitate removal of the razor blades from the side compartments.
Elongated cut out portions 52 of the top and bottom walls of the compartmental structure are disposed in the top and bottom of the center compartment, permitting a safety razor 29 to be positioned with its head resting on the top walls 45 and its handle suspended between the partitions.
In Figures '7 to 9 inclusive, a modified container 53 has. two oblong compartments 54 each having a top partition 55 with an upper surface 56 which slopes downwardly as it extends inwardly from a side wall 51. A bottom wall 58 has a centrally disposed elongated hole 59 therethrough. A clip 54' secured to. a rear wall 6| is positioned between the compartments and is formed with a base plate 62 and two resilient arms 63 spaced apart and adapted to receive and hold the safety razor handle 3|. In all other respects, the container 53 is similar to the containerll heretofore described. The safety razor 29, can be positioned with its head 30 resting on the sloping upper surface 56 of the top partition 55 and its handle held in the clip 60 between the compartments 54. Water deposited by a wet razor head on the top partition can drain down the slope and out through the hole 59 in the bottom Wall of the container. A cover similar to the cover [2 can be used with the. container 53 to keep the contents clean and dust free.
The receptacle It as well as the. containers 38 and 53 can be made of plastic or other molded material.
While I, have illustrated and described the preferred embodiments. of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise constructions herein. disclosed and the right is reserved to all changesand modifications coming within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
