2 Claims. (01. 294-25) This invention relates to new and useful improvements in sanitary holders for picking up small articles. This is an improvement upon my U. S. Letters Patent No. 2,373,651, issued on April 17, 1945.

The new and improved sanitary. holder for picking up small articles in accordance with this invention is characterized by extension sheets mounted upon walls of side apex pocket portions formed on a sheet of folded material, or material otherwise formed, having an upwardly directed central apex portion and a plurality of downwardly directed side apex portions into which one may engage the fingers for pressing the side apex pocket portions towards each other for picking up articles.

This invention is applicable to sanitary holders as briefly described above, which have from 2 to 5, or more side apex pocket portions.

The invention contemplates numerous modified forms, one of which has the extension sheets fixedly mounted in position, and another having the extension sheets adjustably mounted. It is also proposed to so construct the extension sheets that they may be bent around certain of the fingers, for example, three fingers. It is also proposed to reinforce the side apex pocket portions to facilitate gripping small articles. These reinforcements may be in the nature of peg-like conical portions.

While on the drawing, the extension sheets are illustrated relatively small, one or more of the extension sheets could be quite large, so as to be engag-eable about the wrist to form a cuff protection.

Still further the invention proposes the construction of sanitary holders for picking up small articles as briefly described which may be manufactured and sold at a low cost.

For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.

The sanitary holder for picking up small articles in accordance with that form of the invention illustrated in Figs. 1 to 3 includes a sheet of folded paper, or the like material having an upwardly directed central apex 'portionlil and a plurality of downwardly directed side apex pocket portions ll into which one may engage the fingers for pressing the side apex pocket portions towards each other to grip small articles.

In Figs. 4 and 5, a modified form of the invention has been disclosed in which each extension sheet I2 is provided with a stem l6 attached with adhesive material IT, or in any other way. Each stem l6 frictionally engages a tubular socket 18 mounted with adhesive l9 upon the inner face of a wall of the side apex pocket portion l I. The arrangement is such that each extension sheet l2 may be moved upwards and downwards, and will frictionally maintain selected adjusted positions. With this arrangement it is possible to protect more of, or less of ones hand, as desired.

In Figs. 6 and '7 still another form of the invention has been disclosed in which each extension sheet I2 is formed from double layers of material only-in one direction.

With this arrangement it is possible to curl the extension sheets l2 about ones fingers and they will maintain a gripping position on the fingers.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:

1. A sanitary holder for picking up small articles, comprising a sheet of folded paper, or the like material having an upwardly directed central apex portion and a plurality of downwardly directed side apex pocket portions into which onemay engage ones fingers for pressing the side apex portions towards each other, extension sheets mounted on the walls of said side apex the wrist, and the pliable strip .thereof may be i used for holding it in position. The tips of the fingers may be engaged into the conical portions 25, when the sanitary holder is used, so that it is possible tolift heavier objects. The reason is that the side apex pocket portions H are reinforcedbyfthe conical portions 25.

In other respects this form of the invention is similar to the prior forms,.and like parts may be recognized .by like reference numerals.

In Fig. 10, the cotton pi-cker' is shown to be extended up toa personswrist, to keep the cotton 3| or other substance from getting in contact with the hand.

It is to be understood that these sanitary holders for picking .up vsmall articles may have 2, 4 or any othersuitable number of apex pocket portions I I.
