1 Claim. 1
This invention relates to a combined humidifier and dispenser which is adapted to dispense and humidify toilet tissues and the like.
An object of the invention is to provide a device that will considerably soften the texture of the tissues, thereby making them moreeiiicient in their use.
The invention contemplates the softening of the toilet tissues to the same degree as are the ordinary facial tissues without any danger of the tissues tearing. Facial tissues are usually made double and very thin in order that they may be soft and pliable, therefore, easily torn.
Toilet tissues at room temperature and humidity are dry and stiff, causing harshness and irritation when used.
The invention contemplates producing a soothing and comforting effect plus healthful features herein more fully described.
With the above object and other objects and advantages in view, the invention consists of the novel details of construction, combination and arrangement of parts more fully hereinafter described, illustrated and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the invention;
Figure 2 is a sectional view on the line 2-2 of Figure 1;
Figure 3 is a sectional view on the line 3-3 of Figure 1, and
Figure 4 is a fragmentary sectional view on the line 44 of Figure 2.
Referring more in detail to the drawing, the reference numeral l designates an open-topped container, made from plastic, molded metal or pressed metal coated by any rust resistant such as baked enamel, if the metal used requires such a coating, which is made in a box-like form or shape of any suitable dimensions.
The container is provided with a lid or cover l2 having an integral depending flange l4 and connected to the container I0 by means of the hinge l6.
The lid or cover l2 having a flange l4 completely covers the open top of the container and the flange I4 is provided with an indenture l8 which is adapted to co-act with the spring pressed fastener 20 secured to the container II] by rivets or other securing means 22.
The lid or cover l2 functions as the front face of the container l0 and is provided with a struck out transverse slot 24 through which the tissues A are dispensed.
The inside of the container can be left plain or lined with wood, cork, blotting paper or other suitable moisture absorbing material as shown at 26.
Fastened to the inside of the container H] on opposite sides thereof by means of rivets 28 or the like are the roller supports 30 which are provided with openings 32 to rotatably receive the stub axles 34 of the roller 36 which is adapted to support the roll of tissues A thereon.
Positioned immediately above the roll of tissues A and secured to the interior sides of the container II] by means of rivets 38 are channel members 40 which are adapted to support in the channel thereof a screen or perforated tray 42 which is made of non-rusting metal and is adapted to support the sponge or moistening unit 44 above the roll of tissue A. The tray 42 is slidably mounted in the channel members 40 in order that it can be removed as desired through the front of the container l0.
As stated, the moistener 44 can be made of sponge or any moisture holding substance such as artificial sponge blotting paper or wadding of any sort which can be easily removed and moistened with a liquid at required intervals.
While the lid has been described and shown as being hingedly connected to the bottom of the container by a butt hinge, it can be connected to the container by other means, such as with quick detachable fasteners on the side, top or bottom so long as the top is made removable.
The lid fastener can also be modified within the scope of the invention.
It is apparent that a device has been provided that is made of a size to conform to the size and use of standard rolls of tissue or tissues of the folded type which can be mounted horizontally as shown, or vertically. The container can be mounted flush on the wall or be set in the wall as desired. The moistening unit can be saturated with water, a medicinal solution, a disinfectant or any deodorizing solution as desired.
It is to be understood that various changes and modifications in size, shape and combination of the parts thereof may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention or extending beyond the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is:
A device of the character described, comprising a container, a lid hingedly connected there- REFERENCES CITED The following references are of record in the file of this patent:
