Claims.
This invention relates t o improvements in golf bags.
An object of the invention is to provide an improved golf bag having a rigid skeleton frame and a detachable cover therefor adapted to be supported by and secured to said frame.
Another object of the invention is to provide an improved golf bag having a skeleton frame including a base and split vertical supporting members secured thereto, and a cover therefor detachably held between said split members with separable fasteners, together with separator means insertible in said frame and cover for providing separate compartments in which the several golf clubs will be received.
A further object of the invention is to provide an improved form of golf bag including a frame and detachable cover therefor having separate pockets incorporated therein for holding the means for carrying club head protecting hoods and a supply of golf balls and tees, and a small umbrella.
Another object of the invention is to provide an improved golf bag which will be highly siiicient in use, and relatively inexpensive to manufacture and produce.
Other objects will appear as the description proceeds.
In the accompanying drawings which form a part of this application,
Figure l is a perspective view of the completed golf bag;
j Figure 2 is a perspective view of the golf bag frame for supporting the cover;
Figure 3 is a front elevation of the outside of the detachable golf bag cover;
Figure 4 is a front elevation of the inside of the detachable golf bag cover;
Figure 5 is a perspective View of the separator plates used to divide the golf bag into compartments, and
Figure 6 is a detail view partly in section of the golf bag frame and cover showing the securing means for holding the cover on the frame.
Like characters of reference are used through out the following specification and the accompanying drawings to designate corresponding parts.
In carrying out the invention, there is provided a base or bottom plate I generally elliptical (el. o- 1.5)
2 in shape, to which a plurality of V-shaped metal frame strips 2 are secured, the inner arms 3 of said strips 2 being secured to the metal reinforcing hoops 4 and 5 by Welding or in any other desired manner, said hoops being positioned at the upper ends of said strips 2 and at a point intermediate the ends of said strips 2. Inverted cup-shaped fastening clips 6 are provided to slip over the upper ends of the V-shaped frame strips 2 and 3 after the detachable golf bag cover l has been inserted between said V-shaped frame strips.
The bag cover 'l Will be made from leather or from canvas or a Washable material, and will be of rectangular shape, approximately the same height as the V-shaped frame strips 2 and 3, and of a length to completely encircle said hoops 4 and 5. p'
Positioning slots 8 and 9 will be formed through the upper and lower edges of the bag cover 1 to permit the outer frame arms or strips 2 to extend therethrough when placing the cover on the frame, after which the fastening clips 6 will be placed over the upper ends of said pairs of frame arms 2 and 3.
Female snap fastener elements Il) will be carried by the lower edge of the bag cover 1 and will snap on the male fasteners Il on the base or bottom I.
Male and female snap fastener elements I 2 and I3 will be supported by the upper edge of said bag cover 1 to lock over the fastening clips 6 when positioned over the upper ends of the frame arms 2 and 3.
Spaeed straps I4 and buckles l5 will be disposed on the opposite ends of the bag cover l to be secured when the cover is in position` and cooperating male and female snap fasteners I and Il will also be secured or positioned along said vertical ends of the bag cover l, to further hold and support the same on said frame strips.
Individual pockets 8 will be provided in spaced relation in vertical position to support the handles or grip portions and Shanks of the golf clubs I8, or if desired, the separator plates 20 extending at right angles to each other may be inserted Within the hoops d and 5 of the bag frame to form a plurality of parallel vertical compartments in the golf bag.
Pockets 22 and 2-3 having zipper closures 24 and 25 respectively are provided on the outer surface of the bag cover l to hold hoods for the clubs and for holding extra golf balls and tees.
Suitable fastening bands or rings 25 and 21 will be disposed in vertical relation on the outer scribed, it will be understood that it is not inf.-
tended to limit the scope of the invention thereto, as many minor changes in detail of con-estruction may be resorted to Withoutfdeparture from the spirit of the invention.
Having thus described myinventiorr'A what .IV claim as new and desire to secure by Letters.
